As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I dont know if its just a WNY thing-- but here people seem to hold out wearing winter gear as long as possible and start wearing warm weather stuff as soon as the sun is out in the spring ( shorts when its 50 and sunny). Its been in the 30's in the AM and I dont see lots of winter coats-- Even though I am always freezing, I have only been wearing a zip up fleece-- is that how it is where you are????

Yes. It was in the 70's last week, 39 yesterday AM. My folks in Vermont got their first snow earlier in the week. I think it's going to be a bad winter
Thats funny Sheila because the same thing happens here even though we rarely get extremely cold weather. It has been in the upper 50's in the morning the last few days and I cannot tell you how many people are still wearing flip flops, shorts and sweatshirts ! Now it does warm up quite a bit during the day but I keep thinking how cold their legs and feet must be. At least wear cropped pants and closed toe shoes with your sweatshirt !!
I am switching out my closets today. Fall/winter stuff is being moved from the closet in our spare bedroom to my closet in our bedroom and the summer stuff is going in the spare room.
I put on my knee length duvet coat about three weeks ago. Snow is forcast for next week - we don`t get much of that round here.
As this is a big walking/ outdoorsy place here we do get the odd person wearing shorts all year round. Rather them than me!
Well, my DH just took my DD6 golfing this morning. It's 46 degrees. She has on her heavier fall jacket and hat and mittens, but he's just wearing a sweatshirt. 46 isn't that cold yet, I guess! To me, it is - but I just think of the middle of winter when the high is only 5, and then I do OK with 46 and just a sweatshirt too!!

Same here. Yesterday was 38 when we went to school and half of my class was dressed in shorts. Of course I have one little boy who wears a huge heavy coat when it is 90 outside............go figure.
You could definitely be talking about Winnipeg. I've seen it below 30º and there's people wearing just shorts and t-shirts (my husband being one of them). Of course, my husband wears shorts and a tank top when he curls....
I've been wearing my wool coat for the past couple weeks now, and the other day when it was really windy, I had my down jacket on but we had a windchill of about 23.
It's freezing here!! Mid 20s all last week in the mornings, and sounds like more of the same for the week coming. I've already got out my gloves and warm jacket, but I've seen plenty of kids at the school with shorts still on!!
I saw an episode of 20/20 or 60 Minutes or something like that about this exact thing last year.
The news guy was from upper state NY, and went back to his hometown to do the show. No-one under the age of 30 +/- was wearing a coat. And it was snowing.
Here, it's hit or miss. Although the only person I've seen in a winter coat yet is DD Kathryn - and she's always cold.
