As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Welcome to the boards Jeffrey!
You sound like a wonderful boyfriend and so romantic! Does your girlfriend have a favourite ride at MK? If so, maybe you could propose there? Also, what about booking a meal - maybe at Cinderella's Royal Table? I'm sure I read a trip report that someone proposed there and it was the proposal was brought out in a glass slipper? Welcome to Passporter online! I'd say that CRT seems to be "the place" to pop the question. By planning ahead they'll be able to coordinate the proposal (the glass slipper included) with you should you choose to do it there.
Have fun planning the event and good to have ya here!

I think the CRT suggestion is a great one. There's nothing more romantic than Cinderella's castle! I just wanted to say welcome!

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
CRT is a good one. My DW is a big Pooh fan. I proposed to her at Crystal Palace with Pooh. Pooh was at the center of the resteraunt and I told the CM who was with him we wanted a pic and I was going to propose so she could take pics. I caught her totally off guard. It was great. All the parents waiting with kids were holding them back and smilling. There are plenty of great places to ptopose. I would try to choose one where a CM can take pics for you. If there is someplace that is special to the two of you or her would be a good place also.

Hi Jeffrey and welcome to the boards!
What an incredibly romantic guy you are to plan this for your girlfriend! Cinderella's Castle is certainly a romantic backdrop for a proposal. But then a lot depends on what her tastes are like and what her favorite things are. I would take that into consideration first and then plan it from there. You could call either whatever restaurant you decide on utilizing or guest services at the theme park containing the attraction you choose for the big event and see if there are any special arrangements you can make to ensure that the proposal is as magical as possible.

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
How romantic! Congrats in advance! When we were at CRT in May the couple next to us got engaged. It was SOOOO sweet! I had tears in my eyes...
Anyway, they do bring the ring out tied into the glass slipper and the glass slipper is on a pillow. I heard the guy who got engaged kept thanking the manager of CRT for all his help in planning the proposal. The manager also provided them with a disposible camera (which the manager was clicking the pictures for them).
Good luck!

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
WOW!!!! thank you all so much! i cant believe how many people are willing to help out! 2 more questions, first, if i decide to go to the restauraunt in the Cinderellas Castle, how do i get in contact with them? Second, if i go with another attraction, say a ride, what is the possibility of getting the time to actually do anything? It would be awesome to do something with Splash Mountain as that is her favorite ride! But the restauraunt is also very cool becs that is her favorite PLACE in the park. Again thank you all for all of your help!!!!!!!
P.S. i will take a ton of pics and show them off when we get home!!!!!!!

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
When I did a search on wdwig.com it noted that Disney doesn't offer engagement packages anymore, however they suggested getting in touch with Gifts of a Lifetime that plan surprises. Here is the link about this http://wdwig.com/engage.htm
I hope this helps! My other suggestion would be to contact Disney dining and explain what you want to do. Maybe they can give you a contact number directly to the manager of Cinderella's Royal Table.
Lots of luck and pixie dust heading your way!

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
While my family was at CRT, Fairy Godmother gave us some "fairy dust". I think that was really cool, and there might be a way to integrate that into your plans. CRT would be great - but a cruise on the lagoon during the fireworks would be awfully nice, too. Good luck - you sound like a great guy to do this for your special girl.

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
That is way cool. what a guy
You could contact Gifts of a lifetime but don't forget Disney Florist. I used them to make our last trip extra special for my dear husband and they had several ideas for me.
I am sure Disney will have all kinds of ideas and at all kinds of prices for you to help make this even more special.
don't forget to get a cast member to video the proprosal. it will be a special memory to watch over and over.
We did the re-hittichin ceremony at the Garden Grill and a cast member grabbed my video camera and said "may I" I am so glad he did. it is so wonderful to have it on video to watch.
congrats and good luck. let us know what special romatic way you chose.

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
Hi there!
How exciting for you It reminds me of my engagement last summer at MK!! I wish I could offer you some good adice about the way my fiance did it, but he booked it through their engagment department which is no longer around. If you care to read the stroy (since it's long) it's here:
http://wedding.weddingchannel.com/homerandcaesar
I think the dinner in Cinderella's castle is the way to go Though he didn't actually propose to me IN the restaurant, I am sure that would be lovely and so romantic. Ask for a special table near the windows! One of the best parts about it that night was after the proposal, we got on a few rides (hehe) and then saw the spectromagic parade (is that the one?) for the first time ever and it was sooo romantic and beautiful. We both were choked up! And then the fireworks...wow it was amazing I love your ideas - I can say from experience, your gf will be THRILLED!!!!

Re: getting engaged @ MK in dec, HELP!
You will want to make a Priority Seating Arrangement for Cinderella's Royal Table. You will want to call 1-407-WDW-DINE and make the arrangements. I'm not sure if you can let them know then that you are proposing and want the glass slipper. You should ask the representative. If not you can always call once you are down there or talk to the hotel staff to see if they can help you.
For Splash Mountain I'm not really sure what you could do there except propose in front of the ride. If I was your G/F I would go with the CRT reservation and proposal.
The whole thing sounds terribly romantic and we will want to hear all about it!
