As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

how will you remember and pay respect to all the lives lost on that horrible day?
Although she's been gone a long time, my first stop is flowers at my mother-in-law's gravesite. Then, I'm just going to pray for the bad guys as well as the good ones trying to get this 5-yr war to a close. All of the garbage going on in my private life pales in comparision to recalling 9/11 and all the moms, dads, grandparents, sons, daughters, friends, fiances, you n ame it.......everyone had a loss to some extent.
In the words of L. C. Greenwood:
I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free
I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me
And I'll gladly stand up next to her and defend her still today

On 9-11 I was in a Bible study at church. There were about 60 women in the room, it was the first day of the study, and we were praying for a while, during the prayer, cell phones started beeping. This is not unusual in a room full of Moms, whose kids are elsewhere. However, they kept going off until nearly everyone started stepping outside to take a call. Thats when we all found out that the WTC and the Pentagon had been hit. Every year, a lot of us still call each other who were in that study to remember and pray together.

DH's cousin Dan was in the Pentagon that day, and people 10 feet away from him were killed. He's taken the experience and turned it into such amazing things; he's a motivational speaker and goes around the country telling his story of gratitude and living for each moment. He's also writing a book that I think is going to be out later this fall. I'm sure I'll spend the day thinking about him, as I have every year since I met him.
I am going to give an extra long hug to each member of my family and tell them how special they are to me and that I love them with all my heart. Then, I am going to go on like nothing happened. We are a military family. We will NOT let the bad guys win. We WILL go on like they never changed us. We believe loving eachother and going on is the way God and the ones we all lost would want it that way. Some of them never got to say those important things. So I will.
I always remember on 9/11. However, I also think of my friend's daughter. She was born on 9/11/99 and I think, the poor kid. What a birthday! So I always send her birthday wishes, even though I don't see her very often.
The company my dad was working for at the time (Marsh) lost about 300 people that day. They had five floors of people in one tower and three in the other.
Thankfully my dad's office was in midtown.
Dad was instrumental in setting up the space in both towers so he and his team were the ones that figured out where everyone was sitting when the towers were hit.
Having grown up on Long Island, many people in my high school graduation class were victims of the tragedy that day... a number of them firefighters and police officers.
I was home on maternity leave w/ my newborn daughter...spent HOURS trying to find out where my dad was and if he was okay.
I always remember on 9/11. However, I also think of my friend's daughter. She was born on 9/11/99 and I think, the poor kid. What a birthday! So I always send her birthday wishes, even though I don't see her very often.

My uncle's birthday is also tomorrow. My mom's birthday is Jan 28th, the day the Challenger blew up so many years ago. (Their sister prays each year on her birthday that nothing terrible will happen to our country or our world)
While we need to remember the horrible days of national or world tradegy, we should also remember that life goes on and those who are lost to us in body are still with us in spirit. We need to celebrate their lives (however long or short they were) and cherish those people who are still with us.

DH's college roommate and friend was lost in Tower 1. Such a sad story I hate to think about it. We have a friend whose brother called in sick that day to play hookie... his office took a direct hit. Everyone he worked with was gone in a flash... but he was there because he just didn't feel like dealing with work that day. Amazing.
