As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I finally get to attend a crop with friends. (long story involving too many weekends taking care of ice storm damage so that mom and dad could sell their place)...
Anyway...what are the necessities to take?
What should I take to work on?
(I am doing 2 Disney summer trip scrapbooks and 2 Mikey baby - now sets of pictures and a "schoolbook" my 2 yr old to start to learn letters and sounds using his favorite things) I have to scrap book 8x10 and 5x7 for my mom who is legally blind.... that would be different for other people to see.....
Do I take some of my tools I think others would like to use? HELP!
Must haves at a crop: CHOCOLATE. anything else is optional.
OK, seriously, I take my basic cutting tools (Tonic guillotine trimmer, CM cutting system), Cropadile, stapler, scissors, adhesives.
Next I put together a little bit more than I think I can get done in the time. Last crop, I did an acrylic album, so I only took the photos and embellishments I needed for that particular thing.
If it's a BIG crop, I may take my rolling tote (it's basically this,Creative Options Rolling Work Station-Teal but it's boring colors b/c I got the very same thing, but called a "tool box" at Menard's!) Then I pack that puppy full with my paint, stamps, pads, Tim Holtz yummies, punches, you name it. (and I share... )
The views and opinions expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily represent or reflect those of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies
I have a big rolling cart that holds all my paper - I have to bring all my paper with me because I never know what I might need! It also holds my ribbon, embellishments, stickles, eyelets, chalk etc. Must haves: paper trimmer, cutterbee scissors, plenty of adhesives, pens. I only bring the stickers that I think I will need. I also pack an extra blade for my trimmer. We always make sure that at least one person brings their Cricut machine, and that we have plenty of mats for it.
Are you going for an evening, all night, or a weekend? We love to crop all weekend long. We get very little sleep but a lot done!

All day Sat. is the crop. I am supposed to get my Mouse memories order this week and that is the final Disney products I have been waiting on. I just dont know if Ill have time to print the pictures....
I am overwhelmed at looking at my stuff and packing it up, my friend told me you move out of your house and move into the school for a day... I also dont want them to think I have too much stuff.....
Just don't forget your pictures! I have done that before, and it makes scrapping rather difficult. Otherwise bring whatever you would normally use if you were scrapping. I always make sure that I have lots of paper with me as well as any embellishments that I think I might use. It is a good idea to bring an idea book or magazine with you in case you get stuck on a layout for a page. Have fun!
Most of our stuff is portable. We have almost everythig stored in totes. So we take pretty much everything. We decided on what book we are going to work on and birng anyhting we think we might need.

I created a crop list that I print each time. I check items off as I pack or cross them off if I won't need them for that particular crop. I bring the list with me to the crop so that I can jot down the items I wish I had brought. When I get home, I update it so it's ready for next time. It may seem like over planning but it sure cuts down on the packing and I don't really have to think much while I pack. Just follow the list.

The way some people find fault, you'd think there was a reward.

Do not worry about having to much "stuff". I promise you, there will be plenty of gals who have twice as much, and then there are always gals like me, who bring every single thing that they own that has anything to do with cropping, . . .plus CHOCOLATE! Do one thing at a time, and Have a great time!!
I think everyone's given you some great ideas, but one tip is this - if you are letting other people use your tools, you might want to put your initials on them with a Sharpie so they don't get mixed up with someone else's stuff.
Oh, and M&M's are some of the best snack foods for a crop. When I had a group to crop with we always had a small bowl of them on each table for snacking.

But if you're not used to caffeine, don't eat them at night. At one of our crops, I ate them late into the night and then couldn't figure out why I didn't fall asleep until 3 a.m.! Then it dawned on me...chocolate has caffeine!
I like the idea of having a crop list (like a vacation packing list) pre-made so you won't forget anything. I have forgotten something almost every time I crop (luckily, I haven't forgotten photos yet). I always take too much paper since I don't know what I will need. The last couple of times I cropped this summer, I have planned out 8-10 pages with photos and paper. I didn't need to carry as much with me and I accomplished more when I was there. Of course, this requires having the time beforehand to plan out the pages, which isn't always possible.
