As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am a little confused regarding the Photopass CD. I heard that u can buy it before u go & it is cheaper. Is this in fact true? Are there any advantages & disadvantages of getting it early? What is the price? Do they really take that many pics that u need an entire CD? Do u get the copyright form with it? If I was to get it ahead of time, how does that work - do I get an actual CD that is blank & I download the pics to it when I get home or do they send it to me when I get home? How far in advance do u need to order it - We leave in 19 days - is that enought time to preorder? I am confused about this. Sorry so many questions about this but I need some clarification. Please help!!!!!!!!! TIA
It is about $25 cheaper to preorder it. We did it the night before we left and were fine. Disney emails you a code that you use when you get home. When you're ready to order the CD you input the code and that will zero out your total for the CD since you pre-paid.
You can purchase a CD in the parks but in addition to being more expensive you can't make enhancements to the photos. If you order the CD online you can save additional copies of your photos with all sorts of cute borders, signatures, etc. We turned less than a hundred photos into about 400 by the time we played around with all the borders and saved extra copies.
The CD comes with a copyright form so you are free to print the photos. I downloaded my photos to Shutterfly (along with the copyright --it's on the cd as a jpeg) and had no problem. Got many print and even made a photobook.
I preordered with the hopes of getting lots of family pix! We only ended up with TWO group shot of all 5 of us!!! BUT I have 30 pics total that turned into 200 after the borders. I could have cancelled and gotten my money back but it was still worth it for me in the end. Even if I only USE 10 of the pictures, it still comes out ahead of what I would have paid in the park for them!
We loved PhotoPass when we went in May and even my miserly DH recommends it to people who are going. But you do have to make an effort to really get your money worth. I don't remember how many pictures we had before I started playing, but all told we ended up 700+ pictures during our one-week vacation. Granted, DD had an appointment at BBB and we did a photo shoot at the GF (something I guess you can't add to the PhotoPass any more).
We did the pre-order and did it just about 2 days before we left for WDW. When you pre-order, they give you a code (be sure to save ALL the e-mails you get after you pre-order!!!) Then, when you get back and are done playing with your pictures, you add the CD to your shopping cart and enter the code -- much like you would enter a coupon or gift card on other shopping sites -- and it gives you a zero balance for your purchase.

Is this true?! I sure hope not. I was planning on doing it when we go in a month. Sure wouldn't be as good of a deal if you can't add the pictures from the Photo Shoot to the CD.

From what I read it has also gone up to 75$ I think and I think i read you cant add it to the photopass CD. I guess I am not doing it anymore either!
Stitch Kingdom has the info on this change -- just scroll down to the section titled "Special Disney's PhotoPass Photo Sessions" and read the text in red.

This is really a bummer! I think more people might back out now as it doesn't seem worth it now. Earlier for an extra $25 it was worth it, but not anymore that it's $75 and can't get a CD. I was going to call Thursday too - now I'm so disappointed.

This all depends on if you pre-ordered the CD or not. If you did pre-order you can still get the $25.00 fee but unfortunately wont be able to add the enhancements due to them burning the CD right at the photo shoot.(They no longer operate under photopass) You would have to bring the email as proof that you pre-ordered. (This only applies if at the bottom of the email it states in very fine print you can book a portait session for $25.00) I think the newer emails have already been changed. I called yesturday and they said I would have to bring the email to prove its valid. Glad I printed it out in July.
NEW! Please note that as of September 1, 2008, Portrait sessions at the resorts are a separate entity from the Disney's PhotoPass system in the theme parks. While both Parks and Portraits use the same system for their photos, they are separate products. As such, the pricing structure has changed dramatically. There is no longer a discount specifically for guests who pre-order Disney's PhotoPass. Guests who pre-order the PhotoCD or purchase it within the theme parks can reserve a Portraits session for $74.95 with proof of purchase (either email or receipt). Guests wishing to purchase only the Portraits session on CD can do so for $149.95. Alternatively guests who purchase the Portraits session but then wish to combine photos from the Parks may do so by bringing their CD and PhotoPass cards to any resort location for a fee of $49.95 (bringing the total to roughly $200). Note that Disney's PhotoPass enhancements will not be available for Portrait session photos or any photos from the theme parks combined with it. Additionally, guests will no longer have the option of receiving their Portrait session photos on a Disney's PhotoPass card. However, any guest who had booked their session prior to September 1 will be able to continue to take advantage of the lower rate and be able to add Portrait session photos to their Disney's PhotoPass.
