Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Here We Go Again

and we haven't even been on our 1st trip yet.

Ok so we have 25 days to go before our first ever trip to Disney World. I say first ever because this will be our first time together. Anyway we had already been planning on going back next year but things have changed so many times I just want to scream.

At first it was just supposed to me, DH, DS(5), DD(3), DD(2) and MIL

Well that got changed over the 4th of July weekend. It got changed to:
Me, DH, MIL, DD(12), DD(8), DS(5), DD(3), DD(2) .. ok thats fine. I can deal with that.

Well now it has gotten changed again.
Now its Me, DH, MIL, DD, DD, DS, DD, DD, DN (17) + my husbands friend from Michigan, his wife and their 7 year old boy.
I am beginning to wonder who else hes going to invite before we actually go.

And its not that I don't want them to go. I welcome them all but the big doozie here is that the hubby has decided that hes going to foot the bill for nearly all of it.
And again its not like we don't have the money its just well I don't know.

Anyway we are going to stay at Pop Century, 6 nights/7 days with Park Hopper and Dinning. We will have to get 3 rooms.

Ok so I do have a question or two. We are going to try and get the free dining again. Is their a limit to how many in a party that can get the free dinning? Ok well maybe thats one question. I think I had another but really can't remember it.

The big thing is that I am going to be left to plan everything for 12 people. UGH well hopefully I will get thru it all.

I believe free dining had to be booked by sometime in June. Maybe if you are adding people to your existing rooms they can get free dining (not sure) but you can't book more rooms with free dining now.

If you're planning on doing lots of TS, I'd call asap to try to make the changes to your ADRs. Sounds like things are booked pretty heavily during free dining.

Hope it all gets worked out ok!

Ok so plans are almost the same just minus 1 person - DN (17)

I guess that I should have explained that this trip will be for next year for September 2009 and I was talking about getting the bounceback offer for free dining because we are going September of this year.

I'm sorry if I'm confusing you. I'm confiusing myself at the moment.

Oh I'm sorry, my mistake. I saw the 25 days and I thought these folks wanted to add on to your upcoming trip!

First...take a deep BREATH. It is not that hard to deal with doing it for 12 people. And besided it is not like the trip is in 5 days and all this was tossed onto you. You have a year. You just need to get organized to deal with it. First I would get a 3-ring notebook and some deviders and a hole puncher. Devide the notebook into sections...one for hotel, one for dinning, one for parks, one for general things, and one that will hold ALL conformation numbers. You don't have to deal with all 12 people just the adults in the planing stage...so that will be easy for you. Come up with your own charts so that you can stay organized. You can also go to themouseforless.com and get downloads for journals, autograph books, and other things to help also. Get rates for both staying at a value and PO. See what will be the cheapest. I would also suggest not to count on free dinning or bounce backs....that way you are not banking on something that may not happen. With you going this year, make sure you bring back a few extra maps and time guides from each park. That way you can use them for planing over the next year. I would also keep a journal this trip for infomation that you can also use to plan. Keep reciptes and things like that to help the other family get an idea of prices for shirts and such.

In the planing of it...just keep notes on things, talk to DH, DMIL, and hubbys friend and wife. I would pick some menues out from allears and print them out. Because of the age range you would want to do some charicter meals, some fun ones, some places like O'hanas and such, maybe look into doing MBYBBQ. At the first of the year send them on to DF & wife to get their ideas. Maybe even talk to DMIL and the 17 year old to see if they will keep the kids one night so that you, DH, DF, and DF's DW could go out to dinner. Buy one of the 1.00 pp to send to them so that they can start looking at stuff.

From there things will go into their own direction. Also make sure that you do it through Grand Gatherings...with GG you can do some meals that are not offered to non-GG people.

GOOD LUCK!!!
