As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

we art going to disney next aug for 9 days = we were planning on spending a day or two at sea world before we get to disney. I am tossing around the idea of possible taking a full 14 day vacation and spend a day or two at both sea world and universal before disney and spend our 9 at just disney. I have never been to any of them before and I have no idea how far they are from each other so I am trying to figure out where we could stay before we get to disney. Someone had told me if you stay in a Universal hotel then you get a express pass to jump the lines for the rides- is that true?? How long if a drive is it to sea world from universal??? Also do you think that maybe I am planning too much to do all of them in one trip?? It is my DH, myself and my 5 boys ages 2,5,8,11 & 13. I do plan on having down time to hang in the pool at disney.

I'd do Universal last, because after staying onsite at their hotels and being able to get "front of the line" access, you will be completely spoiled! I've stayed at the Royal Pacific and the Hard Rock Hotel, and both are awesome. Easy walking distance to both US and IOA. All 3 of the Universal resorts have awesome pools that your boys would love - and Universal hotel guests can pool hop at the other Universal resort pools.
"Front of the Line" is basically this -- show your room key to the team member at the attraction entrance and they will direct you to enter the Express Pass line. You basically skip waiting in the regular lines. Most attractions are a walk on from the Express Pass line. And when you stay onsite you can enter the Express pass entrance an unlimited amount of times - use it over and over and over.
Sea World to USO/IOA is probably about a 10 minute drive. If you can afford to stay on site at Universal, then do so, because yes, you can use the express lines on all the rides. If not, there are tons of hotels in the immediate USO area. BTW, Universal to Disney is only about 15 minutes (give or take).

We usually plan our trips, alternating between WDW one time, the next Universal/SeaWorld. For me doing it all is too much, esp since WDW is 4 parks, 6 counting the H2O parks.
This trip we're there 9 days doing Universal/SeaWorld. Staying 1 night at Hard Rock for the Exress pass!! it's good for 2 days of Express priv. Enjoy your vacation.!
Thanks for all of your info!! I am not sure if we can do disney first then universal - we are going to disney the last week in aug then we we get back the kids have a few days *off* before school starts. We are coming into Disney on a thursday so i firgured it would be perfect spending the early part of the week between sea world and universal - i can see how one will get spoiled by the express pass!! I guess I need to think about it some more before making the ressie at Universal...thanks again
