As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi all - I've been avoiding RNR for the past two years, but this year DD is not going to let me get out of it. I have motion sickness issues, and although Sea Bands help me, I can't imagine that I'm going to feel good on this ride. I don't feel well on Space Mountain or Tower of Terror (kept having to explain that I wasn't scared, just not feeling good!), but I felt fine on Test Track, Soarin, Big Thunder Mountain, and others. For those of you with motion sickness problems, what have your experiences been on Rock N Roller Coaster? I'm already determined to avoid Mission Space, which isn't on DD's radar for some reason. Thanks!!
The only solace I can offer is that it's an extremely short, smooth ride.
Advice for mitigating motion sickness
Keep your head back against the headrest at the point the ride is about to start and keep your eyes open (the brain usually responds better when it can see what the body is about to go through.)
Then, find a cool, shady spot to rest afterwards and have a cool drink.

I get motion sickness too but have been fine on RNRC. I won't try Mission Space either. However, if you get woozy from TOT and SM, I'm guessing RNRC is going to make you not feel so great either. I always found the best cure was to sit and drink a cold coke. Good luck!

I have never been sick on roller coasters til the last year. I have always done the best of them and thrived on it. Last year I went on a really really really uummmmm, obnoxious, for lack of a better word, one and was sick as a dog! Since then I have been a little shy of them. However even on my worst days RRC has been my fave WDW ride and I love love love it! No queezy feeling, no headache just sheer thrill! I think you will love it. Once you launch its really nothing to fret.
I have motion sickness issues with space mountain everytime. Still ride it, just take my reglan or whatever I have.
But, no problem with RnR. Never have. I think it has something to do with me also singing while I'm riding???? I was afraid I would have a problem with Soarin when I did that for the first time in Jan, but no problem.

The RNRC is not that bad. It's quite smooth. I didn't have problem after as I was ready not feeling too well from lunch. It's was great. My DH doesn't like roller coaster at all but he loves RNRC. He was singing along during the ride.
Avoid Mission Space if you get motion sick easily. Or do the less intense non-spinning version.
I haven't had any motion sickness problems on RnRC. The issue I have (being only 5' tall) is that when going through the loops, my head bangs back and forth on the shoulder harness so it's not one of my favorite rides because I sometimes get a headache. If you do go on it (don't laugh at this) watch the countdown to when they launch you. When the light turns green scream out loud. I swear it makes it so that you don't lose your stomach.
If I were you I'd definitely avoid the regular version of Mission Space. I've only done it once because I felt awful for the whole rest of the morning.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I'll try RNR and hope for the best, and will certainly avoid Mission Space. At least RNR is short and smooth, so I won't be dreading it too much. Being in the dark may not be great for motion sickness, and I think that that's part of the problem with Space Mountain. I'm sure I'll manage, though. I appreciate your help!
Even though it's a dark ride you can see more of it than in SM. It's definitely a lot lot lot smoother than SM. I love SM, but lately I've had to avoid it because of my back. All that jerking and bouncing really throws it out of wack. RnRC is so fast that it's over before you have time to feel the motion . That's my only complaint about that ride.
Peppermint and Spearmint gums and ginger candy can help with motion sickness...they really do make your tummy feel better. Make sure you stay hysrated and take a break in a cool shady place after the ride to sip a cool drink...maybe ginger ale.
I have extreme motion sickness (I get ill in CircleVision movies, and I felt pretty sick on the "tame" version of Mission:Space) and I have NO PROBLEM at all with RnR. It a very short, smooth ride.

Have you tried Scopolamine patches to prevent motion sickness? These are very effective for many people. One tiny patch goes behind your ear and is effective for up to 3 days. You do need a prescription to get these and I would suggest trying one out before your big day in the park. If these work as well for you as they do for a lot of people I know, it just may open up some new opportunities for you. Here is a link to the product website. I'm noticing that the ones you can't do as well are "inside" rides, where you aren't feeling fresh air on your face....the same thing could happen on RNRC, but I think you should give it a try to see how you react (since you can do some, not others). For me, I can't do simulator rides - so no Star Tours, M:S, etc., because they are completely indoors (SM is fine, since there is a "breeze"). I can't do RNRC because my head bobbles in the harness and my ears get really sore, giving me a headache.
I suffer from motion sickness and will avoid mission space, but had no problem on RnR! Of course I didn't know it had inversions until AFTER the fact! But still no problems here!
