As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok so Cathy's new pic from the Loveless Cafe made me wonder... What restaurant, tourist attraction would you recommend from your home town? Everyone on the board seems to like to travel so these could be great places to check out (especially if you are on the way to WDW or Dland).
BTW Cathy, we haven't been in Nashville long enough to try out all the local fare, but since seeing your picture. I think we will be checking it out soon!
For me and my little bitty town, it has to be Johnson's. It's been around since 1946 and I loooove it. Awesome sweet tea and best Cheeseburger around. It's kinda famous - people drive from really far to get a Johnson's cheeesburger. In fact, in my college orientation, I was in a group of people and mentioned I was from Siler City and this guy from Charlotte, was like, "Oh! Johnson's!" Hee! You have to know the "rules" about going, though - people line up at 10 am to get a seat! There's a long counter and six booths - that's it. Go early because Mr. Johnson (2nd generation) only serves so much hamburger a day, and once it's gone, it's gone - doesn't matter if you've already ordered or not. Walk in the door and turn left to get in line - do NOT walk to the first open seat or risk being given the Dealth Stare. Order quickly - the waitresses are busy and don't play around! "I wanna cheeseburgerwithmustardslawnchilifrenchfriesandate athanks."
Another good one is the Stockyard. It's a great restaurant housed in an actual stockyard where cattle is sold. It's only open on the days of the sale, so Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Fantastic hot dogs, cheeseburgers and hamburger steaks and homemade salad dressing. Eat in if it bothers you to have your burger while browsing the catwalk over the cow sale. Best thing - my dad's best friend owns it so I get VIP access to the grill.
Definitely make the trip into South Philly to the Italian Market for a real Philly Cheesesteak...not the Geno's and Pat's varieties (see Rob's post below...excellent pictures and intersection, so you know where NOT to be)...those are tourist traps, but the sort of mom and pop place where the menu is typed ona piece of paper.....
Another favorite is Chickie and Pete's....awesome crab fries....great crabs and steamers, wings, it's a sports pub but family friendly....most of the time.
If you're on a budget, you have to get a street pretzel....and at 3/$1, many a college freshman 15# has come from eating them for breakfast, lunch and dinner......
Here, I would suggest either 'RFD' or the 'Brickskeller' as I like places that give you a very good choice of beers. For seafood, 'Phillips' or 'McCormick and Schmick'. For a taste of the city, many seem to like 'Ben's Chili Bowl'...
The main "tourist attraction" places to eat in our town are Mama Dips and Crooks Corner. The Rathskeller closed recently and was a place Alumni liked to eat (but I would never recommend).
I do not recommend Mama Dips as their service is bad and they used canned vegetables. But, people like the Fried Chicken and the place does good business.
Crook's Corner on the other hand is a good restaurant and is a nice place for people to eat. The Shrimp and Grits is famous and very good.
It will be interesting to see if others who live nearby have an opinion on these.
The Great American Diner. The portions are huge and can easily be another meal as leftovers. The food is good, menu extensive, good prices and really comfy chairs.
In the town next to us: Goody's Cafe. The Goodys own and run it, and their 4 DDs work it. The "girls" are all women - and each married a man of another ethnicity, so the menu has expanded as their family has. The Fried Chicken is still the best (it takes a while - they make it only when you order it!). The Mexican is authentic, and the service is homey.
Here, it's Charbono's. Great chicken velvet soup, and DH loves their sea food. Or Meditarrean Grill - owned and run by a family from some little country near Greece. OMG!! Yummy food!!
In Indy, I like Lincoln Square. Owned and manned by a Greek family, but has an extensive menu. Nothing there is bad!
Also, Rick's Cafe Boatyard - Seafood to die for, duck, and other not so common items are on the regular menu. Always good - and if it's a nice day out, it's got a large eat-on porch that overlooks a resorvoir with sailboats on it.

Oh definitely! I think we're going to have to plan a Passporters meet here in TN someday - the Loveless could be a good place to get-together.
We have a ton of wonderful places to dine St. Louis I have two favs.... EL Indio is tex mex and cheap. My second would be Fraizer's Traveling Brown Bag, a bit more pricey...okay alot more pricey but it is so good. I have never had a bad meal here. El Indio is in Rock Hill and Frazer's is in Soullard. We also have the Hill...where everything is good it's mainly Italian..a must go if you visit STL...

I always meant to get up to Mama Dips when we lived in Charlotte - and never had the chance. In fact, somewhere I have a list of some really great BBQ places native Carolinians recommended to me...
I also never had a chance to go to Price's Chicken Coop in Charlotte - but I heard they had fried chicken to die for! (Scarlett - have you been?)
We are a small town and therefore have the best home town restaurants. Vangos (Greek food), Casa Calabria (Italian), Border Grill (Mexican), Togos (subs). Those are some I would recommend. Especially get a Togo and go sit at Presque Isle on the shore of Lake Superior. Superb!

If you're around the southern Lake Michigan area, you have to stop in at Redamak's in New Buffalo. THE best burgers and onion rings around - and plenty of other good eats, too. There's nothing better after a day at the beach than to sit out on their patio and enjoy their delicious offerings!
