As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
Tiki -- it's absolutely awesome! My mom, niece, and I saw it in July 2000. To give you a general idea: My niece, who was 15 at the time, loved the entire trip; she kept walking around saying, "That's my favorite thing!" As we were leaving Cirque that night, though, she looked at us and said, "Now that is my favorite thing!"
It's worth every penny, and I plan to include it again on my next trip.
I'd suggest getting your tickets as soon as possible; they assign the best seats first (and in this case, the better seats are in the middle or higher rows, as a lot of the action takes place above the stage). We were right in the middle, in the first row of the upper section. Great view, great spot, plenty of leg room, awesome show!!

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
Tiki go go go! Especially with it being 15% off for DC! Unfortunately you do NOT choose your seat it's automated. - It's a card like your room key; a good souvenir of the event! Be sure to get there for the pre-show!
We went this last trip. DH finally bit the bullet (of cheapness). We were fortunate too, that the week before we left Bravo had each of the other shows on each night of the week. DH ATE it up!
They offered playbills which Cheap Police didn't want.....during the show anyway ....We walked away with the playbill, soundtrack cd....h'm what else? It is just AMAZING and SPELLBINDING as you found last night at Quidam. Now DH wants to go again in October and December!! - He is a TOUGH customer when it comes to this stuff....What do you want to hear or see written to convince you? You enjoyed last night's Quidam; you have an opportunity to see La Nouba - AND at a discount too boot! Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
I saw La Nouba two trips ago and it was so worth it. A wonderful show. Aimee and I wanted to go again on our upcoming trip but they are in pre-Christmas blackout (holidays) so we can't go.
Go go go.... You won't be disappointed.

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
I second(3rd?4th,5th?)that motion. La Nouba is worth every penny.
My favorite part is the trampoline bit, which they did some of at the Oscar's this year.
We went in 99, and it was my first time seeing Cirque anywhere. My eyes were wide, and my jaw was dropped the whole time.
The only disappointing thing, was that the seat was a little small for my "fluffy" backside, but that would NOT stop me from going again.
I think we are seeing them this year, but I haven't told anyone yet.

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
Thanks to all of you for your feedback - you've talked me into it - just booked two tickets at the AP discount (25%) and two at the DisneyClub discount (15%) - so we'll be going to see La Nouba on July 4th!
Bert & Sully - I don't know which is worse - my Food Police or your Cheap Police! I figured if he is anything like the Food Police is with food when it comes to money, and he wants to go again, I must see this show!

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
We (DW, DS, and I) saw la Nouba in December 2001. Our DS (4 at the time) spent most of the show exclaiming "Wow! How did they do that?" We were thrilled by the show and plan to go again, without even blinking at the price (much ) We went in curious, and came out with credit cards blazing in the gift shop afterwards.
Definitely worth the cost and time. We made it part of an open day in the middle of our trip, where we spent time out of the parks shopping and relaxing.

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
Cyrano,
Welcome to Passporter, and thanks for the response!
My thoughts were the same as yours - we're not too thrilled about going to the parks on July 4th due to the crowds, so this, along with Disney Quest, will be part of our "off" day.

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
Oh yeah Tiki, he's bad....but mostly because he has no discipline ! Don't get me wrong, a tonnage is spent when we are there! He finds something new to collect every trip! This past trip Mikki Young introduced him to trading cards......I have great discipline with my shopping...cuz I learned the hard way! Hee hee......Now if only I could learn to use those tools to conquer the food stuff! I'm glad you knew about the AP rate. - I came back to add that but you already knew! You're gonna love it honestly! - Just BE SURE to get there by 8:35 or so. (Doors open at 8:30 not 8:00 as the CM told us when we made our ressies.) Oooooooooooooh man I'm so envious of you! Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
We just went this past April for our 1st time...It was wonderful..traveling with DD & her friend (15&16) they weren't too "IN TO IT" when I bought the tickets, but I just said...I'll bet you'll enjoy it! (Of course, they were both thinking clowns, elephants etc!) At one point I looked over at them both (I wish I had a camera) and both of they had thier mouths wide open!
We left there with the CD, video and the program...Got home and ordered on line the Diablo!! My DD is in the colorguard/winterguard with the high school band and wants to spin these instead of flags, rifles and sabres next year if she can finally get the hang of it... She says: "It is hard, but those little girls in the show make it look sooo easy! How'd They Do That?? A Lot of Practice.

Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
Okay,
The Food Police and I just saw "Quidam" here in Pittsburgh last night, and it was incredible!
Now I'm thinking we should book La Nouba - so I'd love some feedback from those that have seen it!
Thanks!

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
My daughter and I love Cirque du Soleil. I think I've seen 6 of them. Quidam and La Nouba were two of my favorites. If you liked Quidam, I think that you'll enjoy La Nouba at least as much. I'm not a big collector or souvenir freak, but I just love buying Cirque du Soliel stuff. You guys talk about buying Disney souvenirs, well, I can't resist the Cirque du Soliel shops. I've got mugs from almost every show, pins, cds, sweat shirts, t-shirts, Christmas ornaments, mouse pads and I can't remember what else.

Re: Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba - Feedback?
Has anyone seen "O" at the Bellagio or "Mystere" at Treasure Island? If so, is LaNouba comparable, better, worse? Those are the only two shows we have seen, and all we could say afterwards was "WOW!" How early do ticket-buying folks get to book a seat?
