As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Got my ADRs for my "Mom & Me" Holiday trip!
Question #1 - Lots of icky stuff going on with DFiL right now and my mind is mush. I can't remember if I've gotten an answer to this question (so if I Have I apologize) Do you Tip the DME driver??? (this Time I promise I will write down the answer on my budget page in my pp!)
Question # 2 - I will have the DDE (buying it for August trip) DMom and I will be there Dec 2-5. We have 4 TS meals and will probably grab CS or snacks if we are hungry any other time. SO... DO I just stick with the DDE, or do I get the basic DDP for this trip? AND (very important!) IF I get DDP, can I use my DDE on the portion that is not covered by DDP (appetizers, alcoholic beverages etc..) I guess that's more than 2 questions isn't it?
Here are my ADRs:
December 2: Tea at the Grand Floridian 2pm then ride monorail, MK for 4pm for MVMCP . Snack/CS during party if hungry.
December 3: 50's PTC 11:10 for lunch; Hollywood and Vine 5pm for Dinner. DHS day!
December 4: Rose n Crown 7:10 pm This was the one place mom really wanted to eat! Hopefully we will get a patio seat (weather permitting) and be able to linger for Illuminations!
December 5: Tusker House Breakfast Buffet 8:25am Animal Kingdom till we have to leave for airport.

We tipped him because we had strollers that had to be stored under the bus and he did that for us. I don't know that I would have tipped him if he hadn't loaded our gear. We don't tip the other Disney Transportation drivers so I don't think I would have thought to tip the DME guy otherwise.

THANKS!! Officially written in the PP!! I know we will all have our carry-on items, but I am hoping to keep the checked baggage to a bare minimum! With a little luck and a lot planning, for the Family trip in August we will hopefully only have 2-3 checked bags. For the trip with Mom, definately ONLY carry-ons.
We tipped the DME driver. He was helpful with loading our stuff but he was so nice to my daughter....it was crowded and we were seated up front and he was telling stories (we had hit some traffic) and then when we got off he just took the time to finish talking to her....
She remembered him the whole trip becuase she was kind fo dissappointed that he was not our river on the way back.
As for adding the DDP. I have always been a DDP person but for our December trip (which is also short like yours - we are going from the 4th through the 8th) I decided to just use the DDE. Once I crunched the numbers there was not that much of a savings in order to purchase it beforehand....
We tipped DME driver because we stored some of our carry-ons under the bus on arrival and on departure we had to take our luggage with us and check-in at the airport.
We tipped our DME driver both from MCO and back. He loaded our stroller and some of our carry-on bags and unloaded them at the resort. He was really nice and I customarily tip them.
We did tip the DME driver. Just because like the others have said: they help with the luggage stuff.
We had an awesome bus driver one night on our way back from the parks. We wanted to give him a tip and he refused stating he wasn't able to take tips. I'm not sure if that is 100% true, but he was so great. I think his name was ROGER.
