As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Staying at Caribbean Beach Resort for the first time in September. For those who have stayed there.....what's it like? I have a preferred room, where are they located?? Read something about the internal shuttle, what's that??? What are the likes and dislikes of it?? I usually stay at Pop so this is a whole new field for me. Just looking for thoughts, advice, and whatnot.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
It's been years since we stayed at CBR. Mostly what I remember is that it can be quite a distance from the bus stops to some of the rooms. When you're getting home late from the parks you'll wish you had a room near a bus stop. Don't know what a preferred room is, but I imagine the internal shuttle is for those who are not close to the bus stops or the food court. Just a guess.
We've stayed at CBR the two previous years and absolutely love it. We would be there again this year except for I am a brat and with the tax stimulus we are able to stay at the Poly. (It will probably never happen again) Anyhow, we always stayed preferred. We like Martinique much better than Trinidad. We really enjoyed building 24. It was close to the bus stop and whether we were lucky or what but it was usually the first stop. It is also close to Old Port Royale. The internal bus runs just inside the resort. It take you from the custom house to all the "island" stops. We only used when we arrived to get to our hotel room and when we left. I hope you enjoy this resort as much as we did. If you fax a letter down 4 or 5 days before your arrival they try to make your request happens. Last year we faxed a letter requesting Martinique 25, second floor, corner room and we got all of the requests except we got building 24 which ending up being better because of the bus stop. I hope this helps.
Enjoy your trip.

We stayed at CBR a few years ago and really enjoyed it. The resort is very large & spread out, but being in a preferred building means you will in a building close to Old Port Royale where the food court, shops and main pool are. We were across the bridge in Aruba and never bothered with the internal buses around the resort, we just strolled across the bridge every day to the food court. We thought the themeing was really nice, and the rooms are a good size. There is also lots of room to "stash your stuff" be it under the bed or around the large vanity under the double sinks. Be sure to take a walk around and check out the resort!
If you're staying in a preferred room you will be closer to the Food Court area, so no worries there!
I loved CBR and would definitely stay there again. If you want to get an idea of what it looks like, go to the Passporter photo archive - there are many pictures of resorts there!
You'll love CBR. Island theming, beautifully landscaped. I had read a lot of complaints about the size of the resort but we didn't feel the walks were long at all. The internal buses take you around the resort bus stops.
The bus stops are different you just stand at the bus stop closest to your room or Port Royal and watch for which park bus you want it is not like Pop where each park has a bus stop to stand at. So at CBR it is like when you see your park bus coming be sure to get yourself over to the stop area to board. At least with the preferred room you should get bus seats by the time it gets to some of the stops to pick the people up they will be standing. We stayed there many times when we went with my Mom and Dad. Have not been there since 2004 I know they were redoing the main pool so hopefully that will be done for you.

Love the Magic of Disney Thanks Dad for our first 5 trips.
CBR is beautiful! We stayed in Aruba (not a preferred room) and it was perfect. Far enough away from the noise, a short walk to OPR. The internal bus system is great if you've had a long day at the parks and want to ride to another village or OPR. We had no problems there and would definitely stay there again!
My DW and I spent our HM at CBR in Aruba. Aruba was a good location due to being close enough to the lake crossover to get to Port Royale but far enough away from all the hustle & bustle to be quiet. We enjoyed it.

We've stayed at CBR on both of our most recent trips and had a great time! The theming is beautiful - certainly reminiscent of a trip to the islands. If you have a chance, hop in a hammock in one of the sandy beach areas (especially in the evening) and enjoy the peace and quiet. You may even see some of the fireworks from Epcot's Illuminations, if you're lucky!
We booked preferred rooms at CBR for both trips and were assigned to Martinique (buildings 23 & 25). It's a fairly short walk to Old Port Royale (main pool/food court/shopping) and a longer (but still manageable) walk to Customs House (check-in/DME stop). The internal shuttle is also available if you prefer not to walk to Customs House. The rooms are very spacious (if memory serves, CBR has the largest rooms of all of the Moderates). We had a corner room in building 23, which made the room seem even bigger!
Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, Mousekeeping was never an issue for us. Our rooms were always spotless, and our stuffed animals had at least one towel "friend" to keep them company by the end of our stay.
We've always had good experiences with the OPR food court, with the only caveat being: avoid the food court early on MK's morning EMH day! It was crazy then I can't offer any feedback on Shutters (the TS restaurant at CBR) because we ate our TS meals in the parks during our trips.
Bus service to the parks was fine during our trips, with the exception of first thing in the morning - we had a breakfast ADR at AK one morning and had to wait through several MK & Epcot buses before an AK bus arrived! Perhaps the bus issues have been addressed since our last trip Depending on what building you're assigned to in Martinique (if you wind up in Martinique), the OPR bus stop may be closer to your building than the actual Martinique stop (we used the OPR stop when we stayed in building 25).
Trinidad North is also considered "preferred", but since I haven't stayed there I can't offer any opinions on it.
All in all, we have enjoyed our stays at CBR and would happily return. On our next trip, our goal is to try some new and different things and are staying at POR - otherwise, we'd be back at CBR
Hope this helps! Have a magical trip!
- Laurie

I've been jingled! Thanks Sandy!
I stayed there a long time ago (99) and we're headed back in November. I fell in love with CBR and have been dying to get back there. I love the themeing. It's so relaxing. We never had any problems with the food court but like I said, this was almost 10 years ago. Our rooms were always clean with the occasional strange bug (but hey it was Florida in July - large green shiny bugs happen).
The only downside I think might be the bus system can take a while. Depends on what island you are in I guess, but you stop at several bus stops before heading out to the park. Not at all like the values where there is one bus stop everyone heads to. If you're first on the bus line, you'll probably get a seat but you'll also be driving around the entire resort before leaving. On the flipside, if you're toward the end, you skip the drive but you might be standing or in busy seasons the bus may be full.

We stayed there during our last trip and loved it. We only had one bus issue and that was the night we left the Magic Kingdom following Wishes. But, to be honest, everyone had long waits leaving there that night.
Also, make sure you catch the morning "parade" when the Mousekeeping staff arrives at work. It is hysterical!
