As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Ours is a brand new Maytag side by side with ice maker and water dispenser. We like it lots.
The one we had previously and sold with the house was a standard white freezer on top Fridgadaire. While it has never had any serious problems with it in 10 years, the plastic parts to it - like the meat/cheese drawer and door shelving broke after a few years.
We have a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator that we have had for about five weeks now! It is stainless steel with the freezer on top. After Lowe's delivered it, I was checking out the inside and thought it looked familiar. Turns out that my DM's frig is Whirlpool, and she has had it for probably ten years now with no problems. So far we really like ours, especially the fact that it is really deep and holds a lot.

Ours is a side by side Whirlpool with ice and water through the door. We've had it for a couple of years and it is really nice. My only complaint, which is probably true of all the fridges these days, is that you are forced to have the filter and pay to replace it every six months at approx. $30 per filter.
We've got a Whirlpool with the freezer on top that we bought second hand before we got married almost 17 years ago! I have no idea how old it actually is, but we've never had an ounce of trouble with it.
Ours is a Whirlpool. The sign on it says it is "Mark I Series" and is a side-by-side, but not extremely large. I have no idea how old it is, but when Dad bought it Avocado was a popular color, so it is Avocado Several years ago the matching stand-alone freezer needed to be replaced. Dad was not happy that Avacado was not a color choice, so he settled on white and had it painted. Fortunately the appliance painter refused to paint it Avacodo It became a lovely ivory

We have a Whirlpool side by side with water and ice in the door, and the ice-maker on the door, not in the shelving.
Had it for about 4 years give or take.
Love it - except we're not able to balance the temp in the meat drawer. We like our milk very, very cold - and when we turn the fridge up that high, the meat in the meat drawer freezes solid.
We have two - one that came with the house and another that must be about 12 years old now. They're both upright ones with freezers underneath and the fridge on top.

Ours is a big Maytag with side by side doors and freezer on the bottom. It's huge and black and we refer to it as the "Batman Fridge" because it's so cool.
Ours is a Frigidaire Gallery - side by side, ice and water on the door. So far, touch wood, no troubles and I really like it, except for that thing about the replacement filters that Renee mentioned above. We got it when we remodeled the kitchen in 2000 or 2001.

We have a ten year old GE traditional fridge (bottom)/freezer(top). It has an ice maker in the freezer but no through the door access. Dh and I were just moving in together when we got it but thinking ahead purchased the largest one we could afford.
I do NOT like side by sides ...just seems like I can never fit anything in them. My best friend and her dh purchased a side by side about 6yrs ago and now regret it w/ an active two year old and not enough freezer room!
I should add that we also now have a full sized freezer in the basement. Helps a lot when stocking up on stuff that is on sale!
Thankfully, we have a second fridge/freezer in the cellar. I had to start moving stuff downstairs last night - the ice cream was mush! And, we have 'water cubes'! I think the meats are beginning to defrost too
I think we may be needing a new fridge this week. And I'm sticking with a traditional freezer on top, no water or ice on the door again!
