Disney Decor for Boys Room About This Page:

Anyone have good ideas for creating a Disney Theme Park room for an 11 year old boy? He is interested in some murals or stenciling along with framed prints he's collected at WDW through the years.

I can find things for young kids but not "sophisticated" Disney decor.

Any tips would be appreciated.

thats a great idea those maps are really nice, I had ordered some for my last trip.
for some nice art prints go to AllPosters.com - The World's Largest Poster and Print Store! there are some more grown up ones there.
Disneyshopping.com has comforter sets and sheets for adults he could always use them instead of the kiddie ones.

Are you painting the mural for him? How about Space Mountain? A girl's room would likely have Cinderella's Castle, so Space Mountain could be a more "macho" choice for a boy.

Home Depot carries the line of Disney room paints and they have some awesome idea booklets!!!

Perhaps you could pick up a few statues of his favorite character theemed around his favorite park or land? Also, several of his favorite pins could be mounted together in a picture frame to be hung in his room. I know the mural idea would be way cool, but it is generally recomended that you stick w/ a solid colour for the walls and put up framed art or posters as it is much less expensive when they eventually decide they are "too old" for such a theemed room. (Just playing devils advocate here. In the end it is your decision and you should do what you feel is right. I did a nursery in Pooh and Tigger and it looked great. When we moved out, the next couple kept the theeme for their nursery. But when it came time to paint over it, the colours bled through 3 coats of Kilz!)

If he collect framed prints maybe you could draw/paint different lands
on the walls and draw/paint frames around them. Like one wall is Fantasyland
another wall is Frontierland and so on. It doesn't need to be too busy just
pick some main attractions and walkways.

My DS loves the Incredibles, so we converted his bedroom into an 'Incredi-room'. We found a great picture of the Incredibles family (on a box of Kleenex!), and used that for inspiration. We projected it onto the wall with an craft projector, and traced the outlines. Then painted the pictures with acrylic paints, just like a coloring book!

You could use any Disney image you like; coloring books are great for pre-drawn outlined pictures. Choose your favorite characters and go to town. You could leave blank spaces between the characters for the framed trip photos.

OMG, Old Toby - that's beautiful! My DS5 has a Mickey room. My dad made the headboard for his bed and painted it with the Home Depot Disney paint (Mickey Red, of course)! We painted the dresser the same. He has the Mickey Body Parts comforter, and we found a classic Mickey wall border.

My DD5 has a Cinderella themed room that we did for her last year. Home Depot was a big help for ideas/paints/etc. I also found some great princess furniture online at walmart.com.

Target has some really cool rugs on sale right now. Not exactly what you're looking for, but they're on sale cheap. They are made from recycled fibers and come in a package of a few squares that when placed together make a mural (kind of like vinyl floor tiles for bathrooms only it's a rug). I saw plain patterns, Cars Movie, and Princesses. For our children's rooms we went with plain colored linens and curtains, then added our own touches. We painted the wall outlets and light switches and hung pictures. Good Luck!
