Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Cool Am I not normal?

Ok...I know this is an unusual post, but I felt this was the perfect place to ask and get feedback. I have been planning a trip to Disney for the last 7 months for just me and my best friend, a girls trip. I figure it will be nice to get away without kids or my husband. It would be nice to have a trip to really take it all in, the shops, the shows...etc., which is something my husband doesn't really get into. He loves the rides and the sights. Well last night we were at dinner with our neighbors and the Disney subject came up. He say's "yeah she's going this year without us" sort snide like. He says it's not normal to go off on vacation without your family for a week. Now keep in mind I get like 3 weeks off a year for vacation, so two of them could be family trips. I told him ladies do it all the time. He says, "for a week?" I said "yes". He says find me 25 people who say it is normal to go off without your family. I said sure. I will. Now also keep in mind I have never went on a girls trip before since we have been married going on 7 years so I don't get it. Anyway thanks for reading my blabber and I'd love to know what you folks think about it. Thanks,

I think it's perfectly normal! And if it's not, then normal people don't have enough fun!

I think he's just a little jealous!

I go without my DH all the time. I get more vacation time than DH so it makes sense for me to go to WDW with a few of my friends (in fact, I am going with my 6 year old niece in December) whenever I get the chance. DH puts up with WDW so honestly, he would rather choose other vacation places for us to go when he is using some of his time. We also know a lot of men who will go off with their buddies for a week to play golf, go fishing, etc.. I would have no problem with DH going off with his buddies.

I think it's normal. My DH is already muttering about not wanting to go to WDW once the boys are grown up. I have tried to convince him that we could have a lot of fun with just the two of us, but I don't think he's buying it. So I told him that I will go without him and he can go do something with his friends - Vegas, snowboarding (although by then, he may be to old for that ). I have some time to work on him, though. If I can just get him to go with me once, I think I can win him over.

It is TOTALLY normal for women to go off for a trip without their families (and IMHO, we don't do it often enough!) The nice thing is that you have a great, relaxing time, and then when you get home, DH and the kids appreciate you more!
Also, my husband and I love to leave our 4 kids with grandma and grandpa while we take a trip by ourselves. We tell the kids (and we believe it too!) that we will come back better parents, by having invested in our own relationship.

I think you should hold out for 25 people here and then print this and show it to him.

I went on my first "girl's trip" to WDW in May, 2005. My second "girl's night" was to the CT meet in June 2007 for an overnight stay. And my third one was to the Mall of America Meet in September, 2007. We are currently working on the Decade of Dreams tour in 2009. You will find plenty of travellers here who go sans spouse!

I don't think it's strange at all. Could he be jealous?

I've gone to WDW 8 times since I've been married. Only two of those trips have included my DH, and I've preferred the ones where he hasn't been along, quite frankly. It's a lot of fun to go on vacation with your friends. I should clarify, just in case you decide to show your DH this thread, that I've done nothing on those vacations that I would be worried if my DH found out about (unlike my DH on some of his trips - I just don't even want to know!!)! Sometimes you just want to hang out with your friends!

I'm flying to Florida to visit some friends in June without him, and I'm also working on a Decade of Dreams trip, which would not include DH either.

Mind you, DH & I do vacation together also. We're going to Vegas for 3 nights in June and we're going on a long road trip together this fall. It's all about balance.

Here's someone who thinks it is absolutely normal!

I have done many solo trips - DH doesn't mind. He likes Disney, but he knows I Disney. He let's me get my quick fix anytime I need it.

If men can go on hunting/fishing trips with their buddies (wives not allowed/included), then the ladies can go on WDW trips without their hubbies!

That being said, I went to WDW all by my lonesome (except for a roomate for half the time I was there) last December and had a blast! And DH was fine with it....

I think it's normal. I'm going on the Decade of Dreams tour to WDW next year without DH and I often have time off without him, as I have more vacation time than he does.

I managed to talk DBF into going to WDW again this year but swore we'd head back to California next year. I'm thinking about taking a solo trip maybe in Oct 09 so I can check out all the Halloween decorations and MNSSHP.

It's totally normal. I am taking my sister, just us girls, in Dec and leaving my DH behind. Everyone needs there away time every now and then from there family. There is nothing wrong with it. I hope 25 people on this board say the samething so you can show your DH.

Count me in on thinking it's normal! I go away all the time with out my husband. Don't get me wrong- he comes too sometimes but sometimes I go with my friends as well. I will be going for a week to WDW and DCL next month. It's about 7 of us. All girlfriends.

I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with having a girls week. As women, we need a break and need time hangin' with just "our girls"! If I didn't have girls time everyonce in a while I would go nuts. DH sees nothing wrong with it and says I deserve it. So, you can count me in as another one who thinks it is perfectly normal!
