Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I plan to go to DisneyLand some day :)

A long time ago, I made up my mind that I would go to DisneyLand. So there is no maybe about it, the only question is when ?

Anyways I think it's good to get tips, so that is why I am starting this thread. First let me see if I pretty much have everything right as far as getting there. My mom drops me off at the airport in either my town or another close by town like Tampa. From Tampa I fly to either the John Wayne Airport and Los Angeles International. From the airport i take a bus or shuttle (my mind is not set up to drive, so I can't drive) to a hotel near DisneyLand (most likely one of the ones that is like a block away from the resort) and after that I am all set.

I plan to get the annual pass that has blockout days. I can work around those blockout days very easy. It will be about a 2 week vacation. I am a Vegan and have allready found out about stuff they have there that I can eat. I am 6 foot 3 inches tall and this is one reason why tiny tim is such a cute name for me Because of my height I can walk very fast, so this will save me some time and if it says a hotel is a 15 minute walk from DisneyLand that means like an 8 minute walk for me

Anyways I would be happy with any tips or advice that anyone can give me. I had the the L.A. airport can get kinda crazy and seeing as I am not used to flying I am thinking the John Wayne airport would be better for a simple person like myself Also what are some good bus or shuttle service from the airport to my little hotel As for the hotel, I don't need to spend a lot of money, because the hotel is basically just a place to sleep. I am thinking about $60 or $70 a night and I have allready seen some of the hotels there around that price and read some reviews, but would love to get more advice about this.

What are some good Vegan foods at the DisneyLand resort ? By the way Vegan food is Vegetarian food that has no milk, eggs, honey or any kind of animal products in it. I am looking at eating places in both of the parks and the 3 hotels as well as downtown disney. Also are there some rides that I might have trouble fitting on. I am thin, but as I said before I am also very tall.

I am looking forward to a lot of rides such as it's a small world, space mountain,Dumbo, the Alice ride,Storybook Land Canal, riding on Casey train from Dumbo and many others

I will have to make sure that I get photos taken of me kissing Minnie mouse in DisneyLand It always looks so cute when I have to bend down to give Minnie a kiss and I have had a lot of those kissing photos taken in DisneyWorld After my DisneyLand trip, one of the ways that I will enjoy the magic is by posting photos of little me kissing Minnie in DisneyLand

I would recommend the John Wayne airport to fly into - we used it on our 2006 trip and loved it.

Other than that, I don't know how much help I can be with your questions.

Thank You You helped me out with one question and that is good. I think I am going to fly direct to John Wayne airport. Even if it would be cheaper to fly into a big ciy like L.A. , I think the extra money to fly into an airport that would be more easy for me would be worth the extra money

My ex is 6ft 4 - he has had no problems with any Disney rides - he rode a good few. I don't know about the Casey train or Dumbo as he didn't try them.
Not sure about the food as I'm not vegan but I wonder if some of the table service places would make adjustments for you if you called in ahead of your reservation, or would at least advise what menu choices might be suitable - Guest Relations would be the best place to start if nobody on these boards can help. I'm guessing it would be useful for others if you post your findings re vegan food choices after you get back.
Good luck- enjoy your trip!

Thanks If the Dumbo ride in DisneyLand has as much room as the one in DisneyWorld it will be perfect Also I do believe the table service places will make adjustments for my diet. Like if they have something Vegetarian that has cheese in it they might take off the cheese. Also yes I will post about the Vegan food that I will have in DinseyLand when I get back

Here is a link to Allears.net and their listings for vegetarian friendly restaurants. I am not sure how they will suit the vegan, but at least you know where you can find meals to accommodate you!

DH is also a tall guy (6' 4") & I can't recall many issues:
* for Casey Jr, ride in one of the sleighs vs the cages
* Space Mountain is a little tight - the seats are side-by-side vs in a row like at WDW and it takes him a couple extra seconds to get in & seated - I usually take the camera bag so he doesn't have to mess with it as well.

We've stayed at the Coast Anaheim & Tropicana, but I think they're a bit more expensive than you're interested in.

Have a great time when you do finally go - it's a wonderful experience to walk in Walt's footsteps...

Thank you for the information

Yes I heard that the seats on Space Mountain are side by side in DisneyLand. It used to be that way in DisneyWorld. When I was 4 years old I went on Space Mountain and I sat right by my mom and that ride scared little me to death

I will take a look at the hotel you posted about. Sometimes hotels can get good rates. I have noticed that some hotels have many different prices for the same room at different times of the year.

I love Disney so much that in time I will go to all 5 Disney resorts, so I can say that I have been to every Disney theme park in the world

Hi TinyTim! When I fly (we normally drive), I use Ontario airport - I think it is about 30 min or so from DLR. John Wayne might be closer. Ontario is so small, though, you are in and out of there quick.

As far as hotels, if you don't have your heart set on staying in a Disney property, I HIGHLY recommend using Priceline right before you go. I just got back from Disneyland a couple of weeks ago. For the last 2 years in a row, we have used them to book a 3 star hotel for $46 per night. We stayed at Crown Plaza (beautiful!) and used their free shuttle for transporation back and forth to the parks. You can't beat that deal!

Have fun getting your Minnie pictures! I normally always see her outside of her house in Toontown.

Thank You I will look into Ontario airport. I like the idea of being in and out of there fast.

I have heard of Priceline and I will check them out. Crown Plaza sounds nice I might end up staying at one of those hotels that is like a block away from DisneyLand, so I can just walk to the resort, but I will still check out Crown Plaza.

Also thanks for telling me where you have seen Minnie I will enjoy getting photos taken with her and her house would make a nice background for the photo I might have to duck when I go threw the doorway to her house

Ok Tim here is my 2 cents on the height issues, my ex BF is 6'7" and they would sit us in the emergency exit row on the planes, As far as rides he had a few problems on Space Mountain like thinking he was gonna hit his head. He is also thin. So I dont think you will have too many problems on rides.
For airfare, not sure when your going, but I signed up on this site, When airfares are low, we'll let you know! and it gives you all the surrounding airports and non advertised sales.
I get the daily emails and love this site.

I was only at DL once, but am hoping to go this july when I get to LA
hope your journey is a great one.

Thank you for your post

I am not sure if I want to set by the emergency exit row on the plane, because that might make me uncomfortable, but thanks for letting me know about that.

As for Space Mountain I think I will be able to fit on, because not all of my height is in my legs, though I do have long legs. Gadget's Go Coaster might be a ride I have trouble getting on, but since I will just be one person it might be more easy to get on.

I will look at the website about airfare and anything. Thanks
