As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What are your plans for holidays/vacations this year? Where are you thinking of going? It's a Saturday morning and I've got the travel bug , I think my DH would go bonkers if I booked another holiday!
Our plans for this year are:
February: 3 nights at DLP (already been)
May: 2 nights in NY then Amtrak train to Orlando for 9 nights
September: Possible trip to Isle of Wight/Northern France/Slovenia or Krakow (if I can persuade hubby)
Yesterday we found out we won a free trip to Fort Myers Florida to see the Boston Red Sox Spring training games against Baltimore and Cinncinnati. So that is first: March 13 through the 16th!
Then its on to WDW and Orlando for 10 days in May!
Then in July we are doing Pennsylvania for the Magic Meet (forgot the dates though)
In August at some point I will be moving hopefully and won't be traveling until Maybe Christmas time back home to visit family.
So:
March 13-16 Fort Myers
May 12-21 WDW Orlando
July- Pennsylvania
December ?? CT for the holidays

Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust! Studying Hard to Make a Difference!
We are pretty much concentrating on saving up for our big trip in July - WDW Land and Sea. If we were to go to the UK, we would like to see Scotland - castles and distilleries. And also Wales where one side of my wife's family is from. Next year we are probably going to Maine and the Canadian coast.
We have a trailer home near the beach in New Jersey here in the states so the girls and I will probably head down there in June sometime (after softball season ends) and stay until early September with just a week home in August to get the girls ready for school. DH will join us on days off and then for three weeks at the end of July beginning of August. No other vacations planned since our whole summer will pretty much be a vacation I am beginning to FINALLY plan our next Disney trip (buying the place near the shore put our Disney trips on hold). We are hoping for October, 2009.

As long as I'm paying more attention to finances and looking out for DS's future, we have first class tickets to nowhere. Someday we'll make it back to WDW, we're just not sure when.
-May 20 – 25, my girl friends and I are going on vacation, but we’re still not sure where yet! We’re waiting on one girl to get approval for the time (she’s a CPA and was already scheduled to audit a company those days). We’re thinking Charleston or Savannah. It’s also a last-hurrah-before-the-baby-comes for my expecting-BFF Rynn.
-Late June or late July, I’m going to the Outer Banks for a week. We haven’t pinpointed the date yet, but probably will be in the next week or two
-Late October I will be at Holden Beach, NC, for a long weekend, as my cousin is getting married at my family’s beach house, and I’m a bridesmaid.
-About one weekend a month from May – October, I go to the beach (Holden or North Myrtle). We usually decide when to go a week or two in advance. It’s convienent to go as it’s only about 2 hours away and the digs are free!
Those are my for-sure vacation trips. This year I’m not going too far from home – Rynn’s expecting baby and Amber’s wedding prevent me from that, and we always to the beach because it’s so close (and did I mention free ?! ). But I’m hoping to squeeze in a WDW trip somewhere, just not sure where! I’m also tentatively planning a long weekend to Washington, DC to visit friends, probably in November – may trade that out for WDW.
For work, I have to travel to New Jersesy (shore area) for a week at the end of this month, and to the Maryland/DC area for a week mid-April. I’ll be traveling for recruiting during the entire months of September and October, but don’t know where yet – some will be in-state and some out-of-state.
We'll be in Florida and WDW from Aug. 7th-16th. My DD will have weekend soccer and lacrosse tournaments that will take us to Maryland, NJ, RI, CT and Mass. for most weekends in June and July.
May 30 - June 8: I'm going to Shalimar, FL to spend some time with Bill (LizardCop) and Jan June 17 - 20: Vegas to see Elton John Sept 9 - Oct ??: The Great American Road Trip Part 2 With Perhaps A Smidge of Canada Thrown in For Good Measure (how's that for a TR title? ) It's going to be an awesome trip to Florida, then up the coast to Pennsylvania, then through the New England states, over to Niagara Falls, then under the Great Lakes back west towards Minneapolis. We aren't sure when we're getting home because we may be driving straight to Banff in the Canadian Rockies or we may be going back to Winnipeg from Minneapolis -- it all depends on approval for a course DH is thinking of taking for work. This itinerary is still subject to change, but it could end up being 8100 miles!
We'll also probably take a road trip "back home" to Saskatchewan to visit family sometime in the summer. That depends on the kids and if they can get any time off from their jobs.
