As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

She's been running a fever since last Wednesday and she's been coughing with a runny nose. I called the pediatrician on Thursday to ask if Abby should be seen. By this point, her temp was starting to climb towards 103 under her arm where I take it. The nurse said it sounds like the flu and Abby should be fine in a couple of days. Friday her temp was mild all day to the point I thought it had broken. Saturday, same thing up until 3 AM Sunday morning, when it went up again to 103. I took her to the pediatrician yesterday. It's not flu, it's not strep they said. Take her home, make sure she's comfy and if it's not gone by Wednesday (WHAT??) bring her back. Well after we got home, her temp went up to 103.4 and I gave her Mortrin. The Motrin brought it down and she was acting fine but I noticed what I will call welts (too big to be hives unless she had a ton of them all bunched together) on the backs of her legs and little ones on her arms. I gave Abby some Benadryl so she wouldn't scratch them and so she could get some sleep since it was now bedtime. At 11 last night, she woke up again with that high fever (not over 103 this time but pretty close 102.7). Instead of giving her the Motrin (since the number one allergy listed on the bottle was hives) I gave her tylenol again. The fever finally came down and she slept the rest of the night. Right now, her fever is low grade (only 100) but instead of acting normal, like she usually does at this temp, she's in the living room not moving. The welts have gone down but her skin is red where they were and now she's got diarrhea on top of everything else. What in the world has she got? Not only am I taking her back to the pediatricians office today, but I also have a call into the nurse "triage unit" (called them about 45 minutes ago and still waiting for a call back). I couldn't believe that I walked out of that office yesterday and they said give it to Wednesday. Hello!!! My child is sick. Don't shove cotton swabs up her nose and down her throat and say that's all you can do since both tests are negative. Something is wrong and if I have to take her to the ER, I am not going to be happy about it (nor will Abby). Abby is Autistic and is still afraid of the hospital (she has been since my father got sick and died from Cancer in 04) no matter how many times me and her daddy go in but come out fine. Can you imagine how bad she'll be if I have to take her for her illness?
Sorry this is so long. Thanks for listening to me.
***UPDATE*** I just got home from taking Abby to the doctor again. As expected, they did another flu swab, which came back negative. But as I was talking to the doctor, she mentioned something about Abby going to the bathroom. When I mentioned that Abby told me at one point that it burned when she went, the doctor wanted Abby to pee in a cup. Based on preliminary results (only those the doctors office could get - normal or abnormal) they think that somewhere during the last week or so, Abby did have the flu and or the cold that's going around, hence the negative result now, but that she also has a UTI, keeping the fever going and keeping it high. The urine will be sent out for more extensive testing and they'll get back to me with the results. If it's not a UTI, then Abby will have to go for bloodwork, but the doctor doesn't feel it will come to that. In the meantime though, she has been put on an antibiotic, which hopefully will help with everything. And now I am so so glad that I wanted to take her back today and not wait until mid week.

I'd say it's the flu. From what I've heard around here, this flu isn't so much a sick stomach kind, but the fever, feeling really bad kind.
The bumps/welts could be lymph nodes that are inflamed?
I agree. It's probably the flu. I am home today (again) with DD5. Took her to the doctor on Saturday and she has the flu. Lot's of Motrin and Tylenol flu. I've scrubbed the house down three days in a row now. Lysol is my new best friend. Good luck. I hope Abby feels better.
There is so much going around right now. My kids recently had the strangest stomach virus but that's another topic A lot of kids in my DDs school have been sick with what sounds like something similar to what Abby has. High fever, lethargic, etc. for a couple of days or up to a week. At one time on Shannon's (age 9) basketball team three of their best players were down with it and missed a week of school and 3 games (these girls don't miss games or school the day of games for anything they are very competitive so they were REALLY sick )! They are all better now and back at school/sports. It's a tough virus and scary but it will most likely run it's course. I hope Abby feels better soon.

It sounds like a different strain of the flu, but not the flu per se-her nasal swabs would have come back positive if that were the case & you would have been given flu meds such as Tamiflu to help with the symptoms.
I'd continue giving her tylenol every four hours and push the fluids as much as you can.
If the triage nurse doesn't call you back within 15 minutes (making it an hour total) call them again. The squeaky wheel gets oiled.
