As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). We are flying down and staying at the Grand Californian for two nights in August priior to our Panama cruise. My question is what could we see in the parks in just one day and is it worth trying please. Are there any special benefits we can get by staying on site at the Californian hotel and also what is the best way to get from Santa Anna Airport to the hotel.

There is a shuttle that will take you to Grand Californian. I will have to look for a link to it. One day is do-able for Disneyland...just understand you still won't see everything.
I THINK you can get a one day hopper pass so that you can move from park to park, otherwise you might have to pick a park and do just that one. The Grand Californian is almost inside California Adventure, so even if you don't go to that park, you can see it from the resort.
If you do have to pick a park, my choice would definately be Disneyland. It is a little smaller than MK at the World, but it is the one Walt walked.

I went to DL yesterday and rode the following:
Buzz Lightyear twice, Space Mtn, Thunder Mtn, Peter Pan, Snow White, Pinocchio, Casey Jr Train, Carousel, Roger Rabbit, Pooh, Pirates twice, Indiana Jones, Small World, Mark Twain paddle boat, as well as shopping and eating at Bengal BBQ. Then we went over to DCA and did Tower of Terror, and Soarin'. Ate dinner at Taste Pilot and watched the Electric Light Parade. DCA closed and we walked back over to DL and rode Space Mountain and Small World again. A tip - collect fastpasses in the morning while you are doing rides like Matterhorn that don't have FP. You can use your FPs in the afternoon when it gets more crowded. We did all this between 9am - 9:30pm at a leisurely pace.
If you can get up early & stay all day - I'd say it would be worth it to visit Disneyland in one day - especially if it will be a weekday vs a weekend. Do your research to see what attractions offer FastPasses.
Just for reference - on a Tuesday last May, using the Early Entry to Fantasyland that was available with our hotel package & park hopping to DCA in the afternoon - DH and I managed to do 25 attractions - 10 of those in DL before noon.
I'd have a hard time being that close and not going to Disneyland! I'd probably stick to Disneyland Park itself with just one day. It's magical!
As for transportation from the airport, the two simplest ways are the Disneyland Resort Bus which runs on a schedule, or Supershuttle which is a shared van shuttle service that runs continuously. I've done both, and the bus gets a slight edge due to the fact that there are characters pictured on the outside of the bus.
If you are headed down for the Panama cruise that means you will be there in August. Very crowded and very hot. You must try to use early entry if possible (if you are there on the correct days) and do all the major rides first thing in the a.m., especially Fantasyland rides, which are the ones that are open that early. Grab fastpasses for Indy and Space Mountain as early as possible as well.
I think it's worth visiting for a day, if you can get there early and stay as late as possible. Disneyland itself would be my choice for the day, as you can see Walt's work in that work. That makes it magical.
