So, as I sit here in my piles of laundry I'd thought I'd ask how you do your laundry.

Do you just do it as needed, so whenever the basket is full?

Or

Do you have certain days you do laundry?



I used to just do it whenever, but then I felt like I was doing laundry every day. So I went to a Sat & Wed schedule, but that's not working out to well either.

I do it whenever I feel like running up and down the stairs. Sometimes that's a load or two a day, sometimes I wait a few days and end up doing laundry all day long.

When the basket gets full. Usually every other day, or a few on the weekend. I HATE doing it b/c it's in the basement and all the bedrooms are on the second (third) floor!!!

Whenever the clothes overflow the basket, gang up on me and attack! Essentially, I do it on my day off from work, or when I run out of clothes, whichever comes first! I hate laundry. If only we could train clothes to wash and fold themselves!

Back in the day when I was a good Flylady follower, I did a load each evening (trying to get back there). Now, it's just whenever I start to see the hamper getting full.

Usually on Saturdays for me but will do a load during the week if needed (before trips or an food or drink accident).

As part of our "going green" resolution of last year, we only do loads when loads are full -- so, for our family of three (who rewear clothes as long as they aren't stained or smudged), that means 3, maybe 4 loads a week, including towels and bedding.

Not to be up on my high, "green" horse, but we have also switched to washing everything except the whites in cold water and haven't noticed a drop in cleanliness, but have seen improvement in our electric bill.

A long time ago, my DH hung a drying bar in our laundry room and we hang anything that would take a long time to dry in the dryer (towels, jeans, sweatshirts, etc.) Once they're completely dry, they get tossed in to a dryer that's almost done its cycle -- just to soften them up. That has also saved a bunch on our gas bill. (BTW, I "recycle" the clip-style pants hangers I get from Target and Kohl's purchases to hang most things. I also invested in a set of special "broad" hangers to dry sweaters or things that would get stretched on a flimsy hanger. They are vented so clothes don't get a funny smell as they dry. Once dry, I fold them up or put them on padded hangers for the closet.)

Same here, whenever the hamper gets full. And when I feel like walking up and down the stairs. I have a large hamper full today..a fact my husband reminded me last night
when he couldn't find any pants. Ya like I have every pair of his pants in the hamper. HELLO?? I had to open his closet (found 2 pairs there), found one pair hanging on my closet door knob and I found 4 pairs folded in with his sweaters (how they got there I don't know!) Geeze! If only guys would look for things! I don't know if he's that cluless or lazy?

I usually do most of the laundry on Sundays but I am often doing additional loads throughout the week.

Like you Denise, I do laundery every Wednesday and Saturday.

I usually do laundry on the first free day I have after the hamper is full. Usually that means doing laundry about every 10 days or so unless we need something sooner.

Usually I do one white and one dark wash every other day. I do DS's school football (soccer) kit on Tuesday's (they need it again for Thursday) and all their school uniform on a Friday evening.
