As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Dh and I were set on going to WDW in December 2008 during Mousefest (well the Mousefest part was my idea) but we have now talked about going in Sept. instead. Our last trip was in Feb. 2007 and boy were we cold! I mean it was freezing. Of course the day we left was sunny and so warm. The temps were tolerable during the day though not warm but at sunset it was cold.
We really enjoy going to DTD and the Boardwalk at night. I am just afraid of not wanting to take our children (who will be at the time of the trip almost 2, 4, and 6.) out at night if it is too cold.
Though maybe not going to DTD or the Boardwalk (if it is to cold) and touring the hotels Christmas decorations instead would be an option.
Allllllllll that to ask...how is it during Mousefest - crowd level and temps?
What would you do? I know ultimately dh an I will have to make the decision but I would like you guys to give me your two cents worth. Thanks for any help and reading my rambling thoughts.
Danielle

WDW Oct . 2012
Since Minnie's chair is gone, I had to find a new place to have our photo taken this past Oct. Not sure this will be the permanent place.
September will be warmer - in fact it can be HOT. You also run the risk of hurricanes. The last few years they have offered free dining then which is a plus. This December was great weather wise, but I know a couple of years ago it was pretty cold during Mousefest. I've been at both times and personally prefer December. I all of the holiday decorations and Mousefest can't be beat!
I would go for December because they'll have all the additional Christmas activities and decorations. Disney is wonderful at Christmas and it's our favourite time of year to visit. I think that will more than make up for any cold days. We were there around that time last year and they had record high temperatures. We were seeing days in the 80's with 100% humidity, so trust me, it's not always cold then! :
DH and I just went in December for the first time and loved it. December is now #1 on our favorite time to go. We had great weather; temperatures in the 70s and hardly any humidity. I have been in September and October, and have had lots of humidity and lots of rain both times. In fact, on one September trip we had to come home early due to a hurricane. Yes, the weather can change drastically any time you are there. Good luck with your decision.
We are planning our Sept 2008 trip - we like the free dining offer that usually is in effect then! Also, very light crowds!

I'd probably vote for December, if only to see the Christmas decorations We've been twice in December, around Mousefest time, and yes, it was COLD on our trips (this year seems to have been much warmer). So unfortunately, you can't predict the weather. However, we packed blankets, hats, gloves and just made do. The kids were fine (I think they were 5 and 2, and 6 and 3 at the time) and the low crowds during the week were a big bonus
You certainly won't be cold in September! We have gone several times in September and it has always been HOT (mid 90s) and very humid. If it's just the two of you without kids that will have a meltdown it should still be manageable since it's easy to take breaks if it gets too hot. The crowds have also been very light at that time. If they offer free dining again, that's a huge bonus.
All that said, I just love going in December - the weather is usually warm enough to be able to swim if you want without being steamy hot and you can't beat seeing all of the holiday decorations and shows.
Our Dec2005 trip was warmer than our Apr2007 trip.
I'd opt for December in your case. I think the added bonus of seeing the parks decorated for the holidays will make it more magical for your children.
I'm a December person too . Love the holiday decorations in the parks as well as the resorts. This year I was prepared for cooler weather only brought 1 pair of shorts and the daytime temps were mostly in the mid 70's to low 80's with plenty of sun. Have been to WDW in Sept when the crowds were very low but between the heat, humidity, possible hurricanes & yes... those Love Bugs, I'll stick with Dec
Also, if you have never been to a MouseFest, it's a great way to meet up with fellow PassPorter members as well as many others who come to this gathering. There are so many different events/meets going on throughout that week and the Mega Meet is awesome! I personally didn't think crowds were all that bad but would say it was more than what we've seen during Sept Visits.
Good Luck with your decision. No matter when you go, you'll have a FUN time
That's a hard call. But I see that you are from Alabama, and I have a feeling that your idea of cold might not be the same as someone from the Northeast. What might be cold for you in February or December might seem downright balmy to me.
There are pros and cons to each choice, but if you're mostly worried about the temperatures, I would choose September.
I preferred the weather during our December 2005 trip over the weather during our September 2007 trip. Of course this also depends on the current weather patterns.
My vote is for September. We went last in Sept 06 and are going again in Sept this year. The crowds are non-existent. We walked on to all of the rides, and made ADR's the week before we arrived. We even walked in to some sit-down restaurants and only had a 15-20 minute wait in some cases (on the Boardwalk we did have to wait an hour once, but that was because they accidentally crossed off our name, and we were so caught up in sight-seeing that we never followed up)! Pure heaven, plus the weather was gorgeous and we all got some nice color.
I bet the Christmas decorations are lovely, and well worth seeing, but for me, September is the time of year we stick to.
We have gone the last two years in September- IT IS HOT!!!! So hot that we probably won't go in September again and we are from Charleston, SC (we know HOT). We have gone in December (Mousefest in fact) and it has amazing mild temps, beautiful decorations, and low low crowds. The crowd levels have gone up in September because I think more and more people book it for free dining.
