As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've had it up to here (picture Teresa - 5'7", holding hand up to top of brown hair - I am even adding a "closer to God" hair-do because that's how far up to here I am) with wrapping!
I've got tons more!
I've wrapped for a couple of families we are close to, and some of DH's family, and a couple of mine - and I spent this afternoon wrapping gifts for my dad (he's missing a few fingers and can't do it as well as he'd like!)
So, how close are you to being done? I only have about 150 more gifts (give or take)

I've only got a couple dozen more to do, but who knows when they will get done. Mom would like for me to finish yesterday! She SO does not like things out in the LR!

I've been trying to wrap a few each evening (and leave them on the steps for DDs to find when they come up in the morning!) I still have quite a few to go, but I'm getting there. Last year, I had a "wrapping center" in our art room, but that got taken over by my tie dye studio, so now I'm having to do it in my office which isn't nearly as convenient. Wrapping on the way to everyone who needs them!!!
BTW, next year, I'm going to have a seasonal business of gift wrapping and lighting/decorating Christmas trees...

EVERY SINGLE YEAR, it's 1AM Christmas Eve, guests have gone home, kids are in bed, and what am I doing? And what do I swear to do differently the next year?
BTW, next year, I'm going to have a seasonal business of gift wrapping and lighting/decorating Christmas trees...
My mom does that. She co-owned a gift and interior design store for 25 years before retiring last year. They sold the business and she said, "No more wrapping! No more Christmas Open House! No more decorating 11 million trees!" What did she do instead? Start doing it "on the side," and charging by the hour. How "on the side" is it? 40 to 50 hours a week of wrapping and decorating. So much for retirement!
Anyway. I haven't even started wrapping! I'm going to have to lock myself in a room on Saturday and do it all.
I usually end up doing it a night or so before Christmas and I end up exhausted but the kids really got into it this year....so except for the gifts from Santa (whcih I have been doing a few each night once the kids are asleep) I am pretty much done...
The big one wrapped the little ones gifts, the little one helped me wrap the big ones gifts, the wrapped everyone else's together...
It acutally feels nice to have it done before the night before for once...lol
I haven't started either, I am going to do some now and I just told DH that he needs to take the kids out for awhile on Saturday so I can do theirs. I have TONS to wrap!!!

I have one book left to wrap. (Don't send evil glares my way! I have to be organized or I can't cope with life!)
When I was growing up we celebrated on Christmas Eve as Christmas Day was a driving day to visit relatives. We would always be waiting and yelling down the hall to my mom who was often still wrapping our gifts at 10pm!!! (See? This is why I wrap early and often.)
I have 2 things left to wrap and whatever I get for my mom althought I think I'm just going to get her a bunch of little things and put them in a gift bag.
I'm done.....I guess I'm lucky this year, as the kids aren't getting a whole lot with our trip coming up in now (YAY!) 12 days!
All I have to do is add bows to the prezzies when I put them under the tree.
Honestly, I'm more worried about getting out today to get the fixin's for my traditional meal-ham, potatoes (for made-from-scratch scalloped), corn, lima beans, etc. I'm on call from 3-7 and have a notorious "black cloud" that hangs over me......I ALWAYS get called in! Time and a half is nice, but not when your house is a disaster, you're going to Disney in 12 days, haven't started packing, and I have NOTHING bought (nor baked) for C'mas day yet. <sigh>
ummmmm I haven't even started......most of the xmas presents we have bought are just laying in bags on the floor under the tree. I was hoping to get ALL my wrapping done tonight but since my oldest son decided to call his dad and tell him that he and his brother want to stay with me this weekend since my whole family is coming home for xmas this year. Needless to say I am going to have to find some time when they are asleep to wrap theirs. First I have to get them here as they are hidden at my place of work AND my parents house. Geesh...thinking I will be up until 6:00 on Christmas morning before I am done, just to watch everyone rip apart what I worked so long to do. LOL
I haven't started but while my DH is out golfing today, I plan on getting most of them done. He and DD went out yesterday afternoon to buy mommy a gift. It was so cute, being the first time they went out without me to the mall. He came home and said, "UGH I hate the mall at Christmas time, but Ellie LOVED the attention she got".
