As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Does anyone know when the 2008 Passporters will be shipped in November? Still can't decide if I want the Spiral or Deluxe edition so I haven't ordered mine yet but am very anxious to know when I will get it when I do order.....
Thanks!!!

I don't know the exact date in November (I hope someone here does). I just pre-ordered my DELUXE passporter on Friday. They are offering free shipping so that was quite a savings and how I justified the upgrade to the deluxe. You want to know the sick part of the story....I already ordered the 08 PP in spiral bound. I decided to send it to our friends in S. Dakota who are going with us. I have truely lost my mind.
Tonya
We don't have an exact date yet. I personally am a big fan of the Deluxe. I really enjoy being able to remove that pages that I no longer need once I've made my reservations (such as resorts we're not styaing in) and having the ability to just take that day's PassPocket with me to the Parks rather than the whole book. (Although the whole book often accompanies me! )
I, too, love the Deluxe. I started with the spiral bound, but once I got the Deluxe I won't go back. Like Belle, I like to take out the pages that don't apply to this trip and taking just one PassPocket for the really lightens the load. Plus, if you join the PassPorter's Club, you can customize your Deluxe PP with all the great interactive worksheets and eBooks information.
When the PPs come in in November, they usually ship the pre-orders first, so you'll want to place your order as soon as you decide. Plus, if you're needing your order for a trip, if you'll let them know, they'll try their best to get it to you before your trip. PassPorter's customer service is awesome!
Just pre-ordered my Deluxe...I liked the idea of adding pages...
I'm so excited...I gave my 2007 to my boss to help her plan her trip....told her to keep it since I am getting new one....YEAH (I justified the purchase of the new one with the fact that my boss relly needed it and it was a 2007 model...I want the 2008 for my trip -
I think I saw that the '08 would be shipped around the middle of November.
I too started with a spiral bound, Christmas Present from DMIL for our May '07 trip. But now I have upgraded to the deluxe, I love the flexibility of it, adding pages to it from the e-books or deleting the pages that I don't really use.
I Just ordered my Deluxe. I like the idea of adding and taking pages off it. and I LOVE the cover too. and ofcourse i have a spiral one 2007. I think it is good to have both the first one the spiral and then the Deluxe!

Thanks!!!
Kinda strange to be quoting myself.. But I just read on Mousesteps website that the 2008 Passprter comes out November 15th......
I PRE-ORDERED MY DELUXE ON FRIDAY, RECIEVED AN EMAIL THAT SAID WOULD BE SHIPPED OUT ON 11-15. I CANT WAIT, I BOUGHT THE 2007A FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAVE WORN IT OUT ALREADY. FIGURED THAT ONE KEPT ME BUSY FOR AWHILE AND THE NEW ONE SHOULD KEEP ME BUSY UNTIL WE LEAVE IN MAY.
Well I live in England, and brought a sprial extended 2007 one. I might pre order a 2008 one on amazon or something, so it gets shipped the day it comes out. Even if I don't get it in time ( I go on the 12/Dec ), I'll still read it and use it next time I go.

Just a thought, but unless you have some kind of amazon gift certificate, it is probably cheaper to order through the PassPorter store using the coupon code we get just for being part of the community. (Thanks, Jennifer and Dave!) The customer service is great, too, so if you let them know you are leaving soon for a trip, they will do their very best to get it to you in time. And that's on top of knowing that preorders get shipped first.
I've preordered mine and crossed my fingers that it will reach me before we leave on our trip (November 25). Personally, I'm a huge fan of the deluxe version - I bought mine back in late 2002 and the cover is still like brand new. It's exceptionally durable and it's been with me on a lot of trips.

I preordered mine last night..upgraded to the delux edition ...we're hoping it's here before we leave for our trip on the 24th of nov i'm keeping my fingers crossed
DW and I are going done for Mousefest the first week in December. I have made all of our plans using our deluxe edition. I too started out with the spiral bound but switched to the deluxe because of the ease of changing things in and out. I have chosen not to order the 2008 edition until we get back. Already starting on plans for the next trip to the world. (Probably in June 2008 with DS and his family.) I gave them my old spiral edition from 2006 so they can start planning as well. The Passporters are great. Thanks for all of the great work.
