As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

For the first time ever, I am having a really hard time choosing a resort for a 2008 trip. We will probably stay at the end of May for our 15th anniversary (actual anniversary is August but don't like the heat). We celebrated our honeymoon at Disney and we want a special trip to celebrate. Our DS will be along because I can't leave him at home. Probably will stay 10 nights, with the first three nights at Swan/Dolphin.
I want a special trip and I am really leaning toward three choices:
Boardwalk Concierge
Grand Floridian Lagoon View
Poly Lagoon View
Boardwalk is really where I am leaning toward but haven't heard much feedback on this resort. GF is my dream resort but I would love the concierge treatment. I am planning special meals, fireworks cruise, etc. so the concierge planners would come in handy. Any comments or suggestions?

I stayed at the Boardwalk in Sept 2006. I didn't stay concierge, so I can't comment on that end of things, but I can't rave enough about this resort. The beds were so comfortable (and I'm REALLY picky), you can walk to 3 resorts (if you have a park hopper, 2 if you don't - because I walk through EPCOT to get to the monorail for MK). I loved being able to walk over to World Showcase in 10 minutes and grab dinner. You can see the fireworks from the boardwalk (or from your room in certain rooms).
I enjoyed both the themed pool and the quiet pool. There is a small gift shop in the lobby but there's a huge one on the Boardwalk, less than 30 seconds from the door to the hotel. Love it.
The people were wonderful there. Everyone was so helpful and nice. I didn't encounter one single problem (and I'm really REALLY picky so I notice this stuff).
The Boardwalk Bakery - YUMMMMMMMMMMM. Seriously. Yum. And Spoodles - the pizza window was great. Loved it! The Brewery - delicious food, and the people were so accommodating! It was busy and I had a big Graco stroller (my daughter was 7 months old at the time) and was perfectly willing to fold it up and put her in a high chair but the staff found us a nice table in the corner by the window, where I could park the stroller with the baby in it. We could see the fireworks after dinner and it was so cool!
LOL! I get really worked up about the hotel, I can't help it. I think it's the location that really does it for me. I have no doubt the GF and the Poly are absolutely amazing, and you can't go wrong there. But being on the Boardwalk is awesome. If you're bored at night, you can go walk around and see all sorts of fun performers without having to leave your resort at all.
I'll rave and rave about this place for hours if you let me. Any specific questions feel free to PM me.
Oh, that is a tough one. I am partial to the GF because I love the resort and being on the monorail is so great with DD still on the younger side. Concierge is a very nice treat and can make you feel really special. But, if you know what you want in terms of dinners and special plans, you certainly could make all the ADRs/ressies yourself. I guess I would probably focus on where you want to be...closer to MK or Epcot and then decide from there. Whatever you choose...it is a fabulous place to celebrate!

I stayed at the Boardwalk a few years ago i want to say around 2003 and we loved it and want to return but the price tag even for a standard is more then we want to spend right now.
The location is great right on the boardwalk close to the EPCOT and MGM parks. Lots of Dining and entertainment.
Now one thing we didn't like was the transportation the boat seemed to take a while and the busses were shared with: The YC/BC, Swan and Dolphin resorts and the busses always seemed to fill up even over full.
I know you wanted Concierge but if it were me I'd give up the Boardwalk and go with the Grand Floridian. I love it there we always have some kind of meal there so i can visit it. I love the Monorail access and the busses always seem to be quick and not as crowded.
May is a lovely time to go the Flower and Garden festival is very nice and the crowds don't seem as bad as summer, they can be croweded but the lack of humidity and rain make it a nice time to go.
Good luck deciding!

I am inclined to agree with you. GF always has been a dream of mine and since we've done the Poly before, I really think I should go with GF. Since this is a one of a kind trip, it would be really special to do it. Although, DH and DS aren't really crazy about the thought of GF. It doesn't seem fun enough for them!

Let me say up front, I'm not going to be much help!
We've stayed at BW-C a few times and love it! Beware: The rooms are not close! You will walk and walk and walk and walk! I agree that it is nice having the cms to help with advanced reservations: That is a plus! We have never had a boardwalk view from the BC. DH really wants to do that. But we've always enjoyed the concierge lounge, the room and the cms.
We've stayed at the GF a few times also. I had to chuckle at your comment about your Dfamily worrying about it not being fun! That's what my Dfamily thought too! But then we found that yes it's a little more stuffier - but it didn't dwindle our fun! And for an anniversary, it would really be special since you haven't stayed there before. We watching MK fireworks from the dock.
We've had a few lagoon view rooms at the Polynesian. Absolutely wonderful! DH and I recently were upgraded to concierge because there were no rooms at the inn! What a surprise - and what a treat. Then we found out it was a lagoon view. I opened the curtain and we had Cinderella's Castle right smack in front of us! Priceless! But even with the view, we went out onto the beach and watched the MK fireworks one of the nights. It's fun in your room - especially laying on the bed and relaxing while you watch! But it was so magical from the beach!
See, told you I wouldn't be much help. But that's because I think you won't go wrong in any case. There are so many good things about each resort you've chosen.
I also love the idea of splitting up the nights between the BW and GF. That's especially convenient since they're located in two different areas. You could concentrate on Epcot more while at BW, and MK while at the GF
I too would split between Boardwalk (location) and GF (just splurge) Good luck Angie
I would love a split stay but I don't think I could swing 10 days between them. I looked at a week at Poly Concierge and it is doable so now I am leaning towards it. I guess I will just have to keep crunching the numbers. DH should have never told me to plan what I want (within reason of course). I work better if I have to pinch pennies!!

While there I had the oppurtunity to see these resorts as we had dinner at each, & then took walks around! My fav was The Poly. The grounds were beautiful & it was on the monorail & boat system. We stayed at the CBR & loved it, but if I were to choose a deluxe, that's what I'd pick. Good coffee too!
If you are still considering spending the first 3 nights at the Swan/Dolphin, then maybe you could swing the other 7 at the GF? You could enjoy the Epcot area (and MGM) for the first few days, then enjoy being on the monorail and being pampered at the GF. I am sure you will have a wonderful time no matter what, as all the resorts on your short-list are fantastic!
Happy Anniversary! (We just celebrated our 15th at WDW, and we brought our boys, too! )
