As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

First trip I had a traditional fanny pack, and detested it.
Second trip it was like a mini backpack worn on the waist ~5" wide x 9" tall. That worked pretty well.
I put my tickets, wallet, glasses case, cleaner and cloths in mine along with gum and maps. I dont recall anything else I stuck in there, and having a hard time envisioning what I might need to bring along.
I secured lanyards with ticket/FP holders that should arrive next week, so that need is filled.
Secondly, I will be bringing cargo shorts for the duration that have BIG pockets and a LOT of them.
I have the previous model called 'corkscrew' but this bag is very similar. While technically this falls under the 'waist and fanny pack' category on eBags, it's so versatile and more than 'just a bag'.
You can wear it over one shoulder, lengthen the strap and wear it across your chest (messenger-bag style) or pull out the tucked-in waist straps and use it as a fanny pack (the shoulder strap detaches also). I can stuff so much into this bag and there are lots of convenient places to store things like a cell phone, camera - I even hang my water bottle from it and never feel weighed-down.
When it was just us, and the trip just me and my mom, I took a small packpack- a backpack purse type of thing...pretty small. I had the essentials- tissues, wallet, snacks, camera, Passporter, etc.... Now that we have DD, we need a bigger bag..one year it was a larger backpack that DH wore (too heavy for me) but most of the time it sat under the stroller. We needed snacks for her, diapers, change of clothes for her, etc.... Last trip I had a tote type of bag that I carried when we had to park the stroller, but DD was older, so we didn't need quite as much stuff. I;m sure the older our kids get, the smaller our bags will get. LOL!! But I am not a fanny pack kind of gal...I'll always do a small packpack.

I carry a small Stitch backpack, basically big enough for my cellphone, wallet, chapstick, iPod, and my lanyard when I get tired of wearing it around my neck.
DBF carries what is lovingly referred to as his manpurse. It's a grey tiny messenger bag. It's big enough for our Passporter and whatever snacks/pins/lanyards/wallet/cellphone he happens to be carrying that day.
For the manbag, backpack, and such larger items like that, where do you put them while enjoying the attraction?
Is it such that you can carry them with you, or do they have cubbies in the loading/unloading area?
Since there are 3 able bodied individuals going, I see no reason to encumber anyone with a large load, but distribute it equally.
Things I can see that we will need on a daily basis in the parks:
Camera/batteries - DW
Ipod - DS
Maps - me
Guidebook (???) dont know that I will need it at the parks.
Wallet - DW, DS, me (each carry our own)
Tix/card/FP - lanyard for each
Gum/Lip Balm - DW, DS, me (each carry our own)
Glasses case/cleaner/cloths - me
Autograph book/pen - DS
Spare pens - me
Inhaler - DW, DS
First Aid/Pain reliever - DW, me
Anything else that you might take not on this list?
I carry a small backpack, just enough for necessities camera, autograph book, money, diapers, snacks, pens, etc. I laminate the PP maps and put them on a little ring and attatch them to the stroller, so they are really handy. And one less thing I have to carry.
I use what I call a travel bag (or purse). There are many stylish ones out now. I have one by Fossil and one by Coach. Has a long strap so I can wear it cross body and keep hands free. I keep a small leather wallet, my digital camera, my meds for just the day, a Kleenex travel pack, tickets, reservation info and itinerary on an index card, and room key card in the bag. On water ride days I would add a disposable poncho. As you can see I travel light but then I don't have any little ones anymore. Bigred
I am a firm believer in the Baggalinni. They are wonderful!! They come in all different colors, and are so much easier to carry around than a backpack. And they hold tons of stuff!

I carry a sling bag (crosses the chest -- so flattering for us 'pooh-sized' women!), as it seems to work best for carrying everything and easy access... I don't have to take off the bag, just slip it a little towards the front, as opposed to a backpack where you have to take it off or have someone else get to everything.
I am also a Baggalini fan. You can find them on EBags.com. I think most people on the boards use the messenger sling bag in rip-stop nylon. It holds a TON.
Okay, which Baggallini? There are only 10000 choices!
The Messenger Bagg looks promising, but that seems far larger than the need.
Again, do you wear it through the attractions or leave it in a cubby (do they even have these @ WDW) while enjoying that attraction?
I remember the waist pack was something I wore the entire day, never took it off and that worked for the most part.
But to be fair to DW, I want her to be as light as possible since she is the DP (Disney/Designated Photographer), by choice.
Holy big bag! That doesnt feel like 8 THOUSAND POUNDS by the end of the day ?!?!?
I appreciate all the ideas keep em coming, it does help.
My largest voids in understanding are:
* What do you have to bring with you each day to require such a pack?
* Where do you put said pack while on the attractions?
* Is it one pack for the group, or multiple bags?
