As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Which resort would be better for three adults? We are leaning towards YC but welcome any input. We have never stayed in the Epcot area and are looking forward to checking it out. It seems like there is a lot to do within walking distance.
These are sister resorts - and as such - there really isn't a lot of difference between the two, other than color schemes. The rooms are similarly outfitted - Yacht Club rooms have a darker, more subdued decor, while the Beach Club rooms are mainly a light blue and white.
Epcot is slightly closer to the Beach Club - but not all of the Beach Club rooms have full balconies - some are standing room only.
I've never stayed at either of these- although I hope to some day. My only Epcot resort experience was at the Dolphin. It is nice being in walking distance of both Epcot, MGM (although a little longer) and the Boardwalk area.
You won't regret your stay at either of these wonderful resorts!

We would go with the YC over the BC due all of the rooms having full balconies and the decor of the hardwood and brass is just more appealing to us. I would not like the idea of paying all that money for a room and then ending up with one of the small balconies.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, as others have said. Our favourite is the Beach Club - we prefer the decor there and it's also closer to Epcot.
I would pick the YC. That's what we are doing in May since it's just the two of us. I think the BC is more for the kids and the YC for adults though there are plenty of kids there too. It seems more subdued and sophisticated to me.JMO!!
We stayed at the Y.C. a couple of years ago and had a great time and experience. We're booked there for spring break next year. We strolled through B.C. just to see it and while it's nice, we just like the themeing etc. at Y.C. For whatever it's worth, the Zagat survey voted the Y.C. their #3 pick of Disney hotels after G.F. and A.K.L. not the B.C. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. I'd do the Y.C. as it has a little more "sophistication" to it and if they can't accomodate you then go to the B.C.
We have stayed at the YC several times. The reason is that we always enjoy sitting on the balcony early in the morning with our coffee. When I go with my mom and sister, we wake up at different times. The first one(s) up, go outside and sit and enjoy the scenery. At the BC, a balcony is not a guarantee, nor is a larger one. ALL of the YC rooms have balconies. Also, the BC is more themed towards children, with the YC being more sophisticated and more of a "grown up" feel. We always pass through the BC and have had their wine "flights" at the small bar there. They both have identical ammenities. YC is a little further away from the International Gateway, but not too much.

PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Hubby and I have stayed at both BC and YC - you can't go wrong with either. Room 4563 at BC had a balcony with lakeview; close to elevator/exit and International Gateway. Marketplace at BC also great for last-minute grocery items and good CS breakfast/lunch items (and gelato!) Our YC room "seemed" larger; we could see Illuminations from the balcony. We loved both!
I think it depends on the atmosphere you want. We stayed at YC on our honeymoon and personally, I was disappointed. It was beautiful, but stuffy and the CM's weren't as friendly as in other Disney resorts we've stayed at. If you want something that seems more adult and extravagant then I guess you'd like YC, but if you're looking for something a little more casual or laid back then I think you might want to try BC (or even BW) - though I haven't stayed at either, it's just the impression I get from them. With either YC or BC you can't go wrong with location or the terrific pool.
I loved staying at both the Beach Club and Boardwalk resorts. Although the Yacht Club is also lovely, it's just a little too formal and stuffy for our tastes. We prefer a tad more relaxed atmosphere.
Joy
