As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Calling all great weekend reports.....
Ok, everyone....summer is drawing to an end and I want to hear about everyones great weekends!
My daughter and I had a fabulous weekend! We spent the weekend with some really amazing people who have become such a blessing, and enrichment to our lives in the past several months! We played in the pool , watched the "80's top 100 countdown' on tv , went to an really neat park and walked the trails , and had the most awesome chocolate chip cookies baked for us that I have ever tasted....and served warm! What more could you ask for.....a weekend of perfection! I am so sorry all weekends are followed by Modays and all summers are followed by fall...this summer has been one of the best ever!
Oh yeah.....I can't fail to mention here that Carl Edwards won the race Saturday night at Bristol! Go Carl, Go Carl...back flip for me Baby!!... I've been waiting for this win all season!!!
Let me hear what you did.......
Liz

Sounds like a good weekend! I would have liked to seen that '80's countdown!
Friday night, I had Mexican food and beers with friends, went to Wal-Mart and picked up some stuff, and then watched POTC II and Old School.
Saturday, I was pretty lazy all day before going out with my college buddies for my friend Jenn's birthday. We got together in our college town, walked around on campus for a little bit (I needed to go to Student Stores to get an alumni license plate holder) and then went to eat and get drinks at our favorite restaurant/bar right off of campus. The food was great, the beer was cold, and I loved being with my friends in our old hangouts (it's only been a year and some change since graduation, but I miss it!).
Sunday, I cleaned up some in the morning before going shopping with my mother all afternoon. It was a very successful shopping trip for me, which was GREAT because I rarely go shopping...so when I do, I better get stuff done! I got three pairs of pants, two skirts, four shirts, a cardigan, two tank tops (to wear under stuff), a pair of shoes, two pairs of socks and some Clinique makeup (it's Bonus Time!). FANTASTIC sales going on, so I was even happier - I love a deal! We returned home and grilled cheeseburgers for supper and I went to bed early! It was a great weekend!
Friday night I had a party for the girls. Their birthdays are the 25th and the 31st. We had a wonderful time! And all of our guests had a great time, too! Ava was dressed in her Cinderella costume and Maggie was dressed like a fairy. They were adorable! Maggie loved blowing the candles out this year - we had to do it 3 times! My girls are getting so big!
Sunday morning my mom called and told me to bring the kids over so that I could go out and celebrate my birthday, which was on the 22nd. That was a very nice surprise!!! DH and I dropped the kids off and went directly to the TKS booth in Manhattan. We were able to get tickets to the evening performance of Spamalot. We had a few hours to kill so we decided to call the River Cafe to see if we could get in for brunch. Another big surprise...they had a table for us!!! We had a wonderful brunch and then went back into NYC for the show. The show was so much better than we expected it to be. It was hysterical! It was a great day. We had nothing planned, and it all just fell into place.
To continue the birthday celebration...tomorrow we are taking the girls into Manhattan and making a few stops at their favorite stores: American Girl Place, World of Disney and FAO Schwartz. Ava is looking forward to spending some of her birthday money on some accessories for her American Girl doll. We're going to have lunch at Serendipity if the wait isn't too long. I also have to stop in to my office to say "hi" to all of my coworkers. They have been asking me to take the kids in for a visit for awhile now, it is long overdue.
We're looking forward to another special day tomorrow.
Needless to say, I had a great weekend. Hope you all did too!

There was a baseball game everyday this weekend...all wins! We clinched a play-off birth on Thursday night so it is all downhill until the play-offs. The "big storm" was Friday night so that was kind of exciting (in a bad way). The baseball game went on....with a 1 1/2 hour delay! The field was VERY wet!
On Saturday I had to work at Pet Supply Plus doing my dog food demo. It was a slow day but I did sell a few bags of food. At the end of my shift one of the Lugnuts came in with his girlfriend and their new puppy! AAAAWWWW....so cute (yeah...the puppy). HE HE HE....I gave him some coupons for dog food!
I went home and tried to take a nap...to no avail...my phone kept ringing..first mom, then my sister, then my friend Rachelle, then my dad. On top of that Belle wanted to play. UGH...forget it. Rachelle wanted to go to dinner and I told her I was going to the game. We decided to meet at Cheeseburger in Paradise at 5:15. I got there about 5 minutes before she did. The service was bad but the food and company was excellent. We got sweet potato chips to start and I got a shrimp dish that was VERY good and she got mini cheeseburgers and a mudslide. I made it to the game about 20 minutes early (5 minutes BEFORE the 5 millionth Lugnuts fan...yes 5 MINUTES! ) After another win (go NUTS) I left in the middle of the fireworks (it is almost impossible to get out of there if you leave any later). I chatted with Yvonne for about a half hour then went to bed about midnight.
Sunday I slept in. I had not been feeling good the whole weekend (lack of sleep I though) so I stayed in bed until about 10. I felt even worse when I woke up. I have very little food in my house...it was time to brave Meijer on a Sunday morning. So there I was at Meijer in a bad mood and not feeling that well. UGH...I got done shopping without killing anyone (although the lady behind me was bugging me by making weird noises to her very quiet baby. )
I went home and made a quick lunch...then headed to the game. I sat for a few minutes with my friends and then moved down closer to the field and away from the net so I could get some photos. I took two rolls of film. After the game we had a pot luck. I did manage to get some photos. I chatted with a couple of the players I know and talked to a couple of "new guys". One was from Orange County so I had to tell him about my trip to So. Cali in February. He said, "That is right up the street from where I live", apparently he was from the "next town over" from Anaheim. He was very excited (or at least was a good actor) when I told him I made a special trip to see Angel's Stadium....and we "drove by" Dodger's Stadium....it was one of those...."Hey there is Dodgers Stadium....way over there." Kinda drive bys. He said that was probably best because the stadium isn't in a very nice part of town. After dinner I headed home...spent a bit of time on the computer and took Belle for a nice long walk.
So all and all that was my weekend.

Friday I had to work. DURING the tornado. not fun :
Saturday was DS birthday party. I managed to surprise him with his Wii and our gift. Totally priceless. It was definitely good times.
Sunday I had to work again and it was so bad it was comical. I spilled red punch on my khakis at lunch, then I changed went back to work and somehow managed to separate the elastic in my underwear, so I had to walk around and do my counts while trying to keep my drawers up! I looked ridiculous, but ven I was laughing. Then when i got home late. had to stop by my dad's which is a WHOLE other rant, the kids and DH were playing the Wii, in their underwear?!? They got distracted during bath time. Well, DH had on his pajama bottoms but still, it was definitely an unusual sight. Then when I tried to go to bed my phone kept getting random duplicate messages from a friend and by the time that was done I was wide awake. So I starting talking (im) to a friend and he hurt my feelings and made me angry. Plus when I finally got Sat mail on Sun, there was a jury summons for tomorrow. It was ALL beat up and looked like it had rolling around the back of the mail truck for two weeks. Which it probably has.
Monday, since I worked yesterday I have today off, was at least marginally better. I got out of Jury duty until November, and registered DD for preschool. Plus, I got to play the Wii finally.
Friday nite we (me, DH, DD18 and DD11) ate at Logan's Steakhouse with my Ddad, my Dsis #1 and her DH, her two DS (one with girlfriend), her DD - with her DH and DD -and my Dsis #2. Confusing enough! We had a nice time then went back to Ddad's to chat.
Saturday DH and I worked in the yard, I went to the store and Backyard Burger - brought it home for lunch, showered, took a nice nap then fixed dinner and then we ate and watched Lara Croft - Cradle of Life (Gerard Butler!).
Sunday DD18 had to work. We actually were bad and slept in then went to eat at El Porton and then found a new neighborhood with model houses open for viewing (way out of our price range but it is fun to dream). By the store (I know, again) and came home and made a pot roast and helped DD18 get ready for her first day of college (she is there now - local university) and get DD11 situated for 6th grade which we started today (homeschool).

OK! So we have a daughter! Well, kind of! Actually she is the daughter of my BFF Darlene and she calls us Mom and Dad. Paul always wanted a little girl (3 boys in the house) so that's what Julie was, his little girl. (Did I mention that Darlene and I have been best friends for 46 years?) So due to the fact that her father has serious issues, Paul has always been her father figure. Fast forward to this summer. A lot of weekends have been spent on wedding planning as she gets married Sept. 29th. We bought her wedding dress so I have been there for the shopping, the choosing and the fittings. Plus I told her I would buy all wedding accessories such as purse, jewelry, ring pillow, cake topper, candles, place cards, guest book, etc. (you get the picture) so many shopping trips have ensued. We are also giving the rehearsal dinner as HIS parents refuse to do anything so there have been tastings and menu selections and all the other stuff for that to do. So in other words this has been the summer of our daughter's wedding. I am having a ball but her real Mom and the bride are frazzled! I love weddings! Bigred
Saturday I worked during the day. After supper, DD and I did some scrapbooking and watched 2 movies. Sunday I did the laundery and cleaned house in the morning. In the afternoon I went to the Lake County Captain's game with 2 of my closest friends. One of them works as a ticket taker and had some tickets that that to be used by the end of the week. We were glad to help use them. the Captains won and we had a great time. After DD got home from work, we went to the Wal-Mart supercenter and bought groceries.

Friday, ran around and got the last odds and ends formy younger DS for back to school, went to grab something to eat with my older DS , who is in a funk. Said bye to youngers sons friends who stopped over before they all went out.
Sat- took younger son back to college , had lunch at a brewpub. Drove home, hungout with the dog.
Sun- spent some time with older DS (funk city), cleaned the kitchen, had a glass of wine with a friend.
This was my weekend to work, so during the day (as you all got to enjoy your plans) I slept. Then, while everyone else slept, I worked.
Today (I've had one hour of sleep since getting off at 7AM) I ran around changing my name on my driver's license, SSN, kids' school records, getting address changed for bus purposes, etc. I am literally falling asleep on my keyboard; trying to stay awake until midnight so I'm not awake @ 6AM since I go back tomorrow night.
We had a three day weekend here and had 15 members of DH's family round for a barbecue on Saturday, which went really well. Then yesterday, we went out to some gardens near where we live with friends. We first had a pub lunch outside, as the weather was so nice, then went to the gardens, which were beautiful. We also walked through the nearby woods before going back to theirs for a great dinner. It's been a good weekend.
I had a long weekend as I had a half day on Friday and took off on Monday to spend some extra quality time with dd before she starts 7th grade on 9/5. Friday we ran errands and looked for new hockey skates for her (unsuccessfully). Saturday we went to the local pool where our neighbors met us and dd saw lots of school chums. Sunday dd had power skating and we bumbed around. Monday we ran a few more errands and spent the rest of the day at the pool.
On Friday night I actually watched a movie even though I had to stop it a few times to put DS back to bed!
Saturday we went to the birthday party of DH's cousins' son - he was turning 3 and had... A MICKEY MOUSE PARTY! Nice. We had to drive down to the Jersey Shore to get there so the drive down on a Saturday was slow... very, very slow. The party was huge and a lot of fun and DS was swimming all by himself for the first time! Alright! The drive home was long, but not as long as I had expected... everyone napped while I drove. Everyone went to bed easily and so did I!
Lazy Sunday morning. DS climbed into bed with us and watched Disney Channel while DH and I caught another 1/2 hour worth of sleep. Pancake breakfast and casually got dressed and ready for the day. And we took the kids here: Cole Palens - Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome - America’s Original Living Museum of Antique Airplanes !
It was incredible! One of the first plane stunts, the pilot dropped a roll of toilet paper and then zoomed back and forth, cutting it into small pieces as it dropped - he cut it FIVE TIMES! Wow! And the Flying Farmer was incredible - the engine turned off and he carefully glides down to make an easy landing... at a spry 82 years old! It really was a great show. DS talked about it the whole ride home (which is saying a lot because we were caught in traffic for hours), and has asked to go back to see the airplanes every morning since!
It was a great weekend and I wish it could have lasted just one day longer!!!
