Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Went to have ebook printed/binded at kinkos

Ouch they wanted $192 dollars to have the Character Ebook printed in color. I could do that cheaper at home. I tried PrintFu.com but they said that they were not accepting orders now. I wanted to spare my printer and myself but I guess that I have to suck it up. (or print it out) But ouch I really want this in print makes it easier to read over and over. I also like to take my passporter on long car rides. I am not planning a trip but I just enjoy reading my passporter.

PrintFu.com isn't taking orders anymore? Sorry to hear that!

All of the print on demand companies I've researched have fallen flat. If ANYONE has ideas for me, please send me a PM or e-mail.

Just a thought.... my library does some color printing at a much cheaper rate than Staples or Office Max, (not certain if you have any in your area) not exactly the same quality, but much better than my home printer. Also try local colleges, some times you can use their library for printing and surfing the net and all you may need is to have a library card.

Hope this helps!!

I also had the same experience when I went to print an e-book @ Kinko’s and subsequently printFU.

I also had to resolve to printing it on my home printer. I saved myself some time by going to my local office supply (Office Depot for me) and purchased a ream of white printer paper then I took it over to the copy/fax side of the business and had them cut the entire ream in half thus making a 1000 sheets of 5.5 X 8.5 in which is the perfect size for printing any passporter e-book. I then set my paper size for my printer to be the above size and it worked perfectly and it saved me from cutting each sheet individually.

You could purchase colored paper if you desired and have a different look for each section also.

Hope this Helps.

Smile ebook side by side?

I am really enjoying my "sidekick" ebook and was hoping I'd be able to print some of the pages up "landscape" style but I found that even though my printer has settings for "landscape" (which should in theory print the pages side by side) they didn't do that. i don't know if I need to mess with my printer settings or just try and do the worksheets regular (I was doing it by evens) as it prints in the middle of the whole page. I thought I knew what I was doing, but I'm not so good at this. =)

Otherwise the interactive part of the eBook is really handy!! I have a couple more weeks before I need to have my worksheets printed up for the trip, but yeah if someone knows how to fix the side by side (or non side by side printing issue as the case may be) I'd love to find out too..

Ok-I had my Character Yearbook printed at Kinkos. It was about $30. It's black & white, singled sided & binded. It's WAY too fat!!! Help! I really need to do something w/ it. I'm thinking of un-binding it & inserting pages into clear page protectors to put in a binder. At least I could back-to-back pages. Maybe it would be less bulky.?

I really wish we could buy that in book form from you guys at Passporter. (With character's pictures, of course)

Lori, I don't think that will help with the bulkiness of the e-book -- the same number of sheets will be there, plus those plastic protectors would ADD bulk.

How about just taking the character pages you really want to meet and putting those in a binder?

I love this ebook!! I have two copys printed. One copy is single sided, black and white. I also have a bound one double sided black and white. I desided just to do it in black and white, but the pages you want in color you can do them like that (the cover page/autograph pages). It is tricky to get them double sided but it is possible. Also you can go to staples and get it done for like 15.00!! The copy that is bound I did add blank pages to it so that each letter has a devider and a devider tab is on each of them pages. I did this so that it is easyer to find diffrent letters and also that there is a page(s) that I can keep a list of characters that I have photos/autographs of. I am going to take this to Disney as my autograph book this year and on future trips. That way everything is done for me, all I have to do is add the photo.

to add a photo to the box that is on each page, put the photos on the copyer/printer (you can get 3 or 4 on there) scan them like you would any photos. Once the oppions come up go to the one that lets you pick the size you want the photo, click on the one that will make the set of photos 5x7. the print them out. make a "template" of the photo square and then layover photo and cut photo out. Use scrapbook (photo safe) glue.

But then again this is just what I did.

Most printer panels have an option of printing multiple pages per sheet. If you select this, select 2 pages per sheet, and set it to print with a landscape orientation, you should get what you want: two 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" pages side by side on the same sheet of paper.

Printing double-sided is much trickier, though, since you can do it all double-sided but it won't come up the correct order. For example, pages 1 and 2 will be on one side, with 3 and 4 on the other. When you cut them apart, you have 2 and 3 together and 1 and 4 together. I haven't found a good way to print these books double sided yet. However, Jennilearn's idea of pre-cutting the paper might work--I haven't tried double-sided printing with the half-sized sheets, but that sounds like a decent solution!

Adobe provides a "booklet" setting to print these. Here's the link to the help section on booklets. Adobe Reader 8

It doesn't solve the problem of using up all your own ink, though!

To get them double sided first you need to go to the print link, then if you look down you will see print pages ____ to _____. you want to select that one. I would say do pages 1-30 and so on so that you print 30 pages at a time. then right under ther you will see where it say print odd pages print even pages, you want to print the odd pages first. once they print out you will re-order them with the cover being the last page and page 30 the first page. next you will put the pages back into the printer (if you look at the paper try you will be reading the pages up side down. Next you want to go back to the print menue and select the print pages ____ to ____ selection. You will then select print the even pages. then right under that you will see a little box to check that say invert the pages, check that box. when they print out page one and 2 are on the same side back to back.

try a few pages to make sure that you get it right before you try printing the whole book.
