As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We've never done a Disney Cruise before. DH and I did a RCCL cruise (it was a free trip I earned) and we did not enjoy it. I know Disney will be different, but we want to start out with a small one.
In looking at the 3 day and 4 day cruises, it seems that the 4 day just gets us a full day at sea on the ship. I know there are 08 cruises with 2 stops at Castaway Cay, but those dates are not good for us.
We're thinking October 08 during our kids fall break in the latter half of the month.
Please be objective as possible. I know that you can say, "Do the 4 day because it's another day of vacation."
For me, I'm not sure if a full day at sea is necessary. So I need to hear from those who have done a 3 day and a 4 day (hopefully) and tell me really, was that extra day that significant?
I've read previous Navigators, so I know there are activities.
I recommend the 4 day because the three day just doesn't give you enough time to fully enjoy all the ship has to offer. Having the day at sea gives us a wonderful opportunity to really enjoy the ship.
We've never done a 4-night, but we've done two 3-night and our reaction both times was "this is way too short." (We did the 2nd 3-night because our daughter was just 3 and we didn't want to do a longer cruise until we were sure she could handle the movement -- she did fine, so our next cruise was a 7-night.) The 3-night cruise is really more like 2 days, because the ship doesn't get moving until around 5 pm, then there's a day in Nassau, a day in Castaway Cay, and you disembark first thing the next morning. The days at sea on the 7-night cruise were wonderful, with more choices for things to do than time to do them in, so I really do think the exta day would be well worth it.

Happy planning!

LOVED LOVED LOVED the 7 night. Wish we could go longer!
There is so much to do that I believe that the day at sea would be in no way wasted. The activities, not to mention the Spa area, are great and not to be missed. If you want any chance of experiencing the tip of the iceberg, I would go 4.
In some windy conditions, the ship can't dock at Castaway Cay. On a 3-day, that would be your only chance and you'd miss it. On a 4-day, if conditions allow, the captain could take the bad weather day as the sea day and return to CC for a shortened visit on what would normally be the sea day.

WDW Oct. 4 and setting sail Oct. 7, back to the Mouse House after that!
We did the 4-night and loved it. It was nice to have the day at sea to see other things on the ship and to feel less rushed. I think a 3-night would have just been way too fast, while the 4-night allowed us to slow down a bit
We've only done a 3 night and a 7 night, and the 3 night was just way too rushed. We never even had time to look at everything on the ship, let alone enjoy the many activities. That's why we had to go on another longer cruise (and now another)...
I'd agree with the consensus--4 is better than 3 if you can do it, but go for the 3-day, if that's all you can manage time or money-wise. I've only done the 3-day and would have loved to have the sea-day, but still had a fantastic time.

I agree also. If you can swing the 4 night definitely do that. But if not the 3 night is great too! I am going on a 3 night night with my friend in December because she souldn't do the 4 night. I'm still looking forward to it just as much as a 4 night. Either way I am sure you will have a MAGICAL time!!
I've only done the 7 day but if I were you I'd definitely choose the 4 day to have the day at sea. There is sooooooo much to do on the ship if you have your only two days at ports of call you'll miss a lot. I loved our days at sea!
I agree with everyone! We did the DCL 3 night about 3 years ago and at the end, I really felt like that extra day would have been so great. There were so many things we didn't get done. If you can only do a 3, then by all means do it, but if you can do a 4, it would be my recommendation. We are doing a 7 night next summer! I'm really looking forward to not feeling like I have to "get it all done" in the first couple of days. I'm a little nervous about 7 being I get a bit seasick, but I'm giving it a shot.
Zulaya, I just noticed you are from MN. We do a yearly PP meet at Mall of America. Here's a link to the thread http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...5-moa-6-a.html. It's a really long one, so in a nutshell, we meet on Friday night just to visit (I'll send you a PM with info), then on Saturday at MOA for lunch. Those of us who scrapbook, scrap all day at Archiever's and those who like to shop do that and some do both! Hope you can join us this year. There are always new people coming each year, so it's not like everybody knows each other.
Michelle
Thanks for the info...I'd love to join you for the MOA event, but I'm working both those days. I have a Pampered Chef business and September is just a busy month...I've been booked weeks in advance.
But now that I know this event is happening, I can look forward to next year and block my calendar out.
another vote for 4 day - even though we had a surprise "double dip" and didn't have a day at sea - our family opted to stay on the boat the 2nd day and that was probably our favorite day. There were some great activities offered, and I didn't feel like I had been "rushed" when we got off the ship the next day.
