As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Wyoming is my favorite state. Beautiful. I love everything about it. And, no. I don't live there. I live in NJ I have also lived in Michigan, Washington, and New York. But I still love Wyoming the most. If WDW were a state, I would say it was my favorite, but Florida is a better place to visit than to live for me personally.

I don't think I've been to another state I like better than Maine---not saying they don't exist, just that I haven't traveled all that much in the U.S. and I like Maine well enough.
That's a really hard question to answer because I like a lot of the states I've been to. Montana and Idaho are great states and if they were warmer in the winter time one of them might get my vote. I think maybe my favourites are Florida and Hawaii. And nope - I don't live in either one.

I was born and raised in Texas, I have lived in Maryland, Kentucky, South Carolina, Ohio, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and now I live in Mississippi. The only states I would not live in again would be Ohio, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, because I do not like the cold and the snow.
I am a beach girl, I live 5 mins from the beach now and get to drive along it every morning, so I am very content and happy to live in South Mississippi, but I do miss Texas and Maryland. Luckily I have family in San Antonio and travel there frequently for my fix (HEB, it's a grocery store for all you non-Texans) I smuggle fresh tortillas back into Mississippi.
I love Florida and would, like everyone else, love to live on the doorstep of WDW.
We've lived in New York, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and now Montana. They all have things that make them beautiful in their own way, I suppose. I'm from upstate NY, so I enjoyed the fall leaves, apples, and miles of green grass. New Hampshire brought me closer to the New England I love. We hiked the White Mountains, visited Boston, and took frequent drives to quaint colonial towns. North Carolina satisfied the beach girl in me when we lived 4 miles from the beach. The weather was awesome and the people were so friendly. Montana has it's own kind of beauty. Mountains spring up from prairie and I've never before seen so many colors in the sky. I often drive to or home from work with pinks and purples blazing in the sky. I love that!
Being that I'm a beach person and love New England, I'd say the state I loved the most in my visits was Maine. Some day I'll get back to Portsmouth, Camden, and Rockland! Rachel, you're one lucky lady!
I love North Carolina, where I've lived my whole life (unless you count 4 months of study abroad). I'm a Tar Heel born, a Tar Heel bred and when I die, I'll be a Tar Heel dead (sorry, that's the UNC fan coming out in me). Where I live, I'm 2.5 hours from the Appalachian mountains, which are beautiful and have some great skiing. And then I'm 2.5 hours from the beach as well. The Outer Banks area is sooo beautiful and one of NC's treasures - it's one of my favorite places in the whole wide world, and we're only about 3.5 hours from there as well. Plus we're not far from some great out-of-state fun - 6 hours to Washington DC and Atlanta, 10 hours to WDW , 3 hours to Myrtle Beach, 4 to Charleston, 5 to Savannah. I love the people, the food, the history (lots of great pirate stuff at OBX!) the weather (most of the time, when hurricanes aren't coming through ) - we get snow and chilly weather, but nice long summers as well. Just a great place to live. I wouldn't mind moving closer to the beach someday, even though it would put me further from the mountains.
That's not to say I haven't loved a lot of the other states I've visited - I have! If I had to pick another "home" - I think would love Colorado, California, Florida, Mississippi, Texas, Georgia or Washington, DC. They are all beautiful. But I think I'll stick w/ NC for right now.
I haven't traveled much. But my favorite is Tennessee and I live there! The mountains are beautiful, the weather is wonderful! I just love it here. If I didn't like Tennessee so much I would move to Florida. My second favorite state of course!

I have lived in Michigan and Pennsylvania. But PA doesn't count because I moved here before I was two. I am tired of the crappy snow and economy and want to move.
I think my favorite state would have to be Hawaii, just because it is so beautiful. My second favorite would be Florida and two months from today, I will be a Florida resident!
I'm a North Carolina native and I think I live in a great state. The only thing I don't like is the county that I live in. Property taxes are ridiculous here! Other than that, it's a pretty good location: 2 hours from the mountains, 5 hours from Myrtle Beach (which is where I'm headed in a couple of days), 4 hours from Charleston. I would love to be closer to the beach. If I had to pick another state, it would be South Carolina because of my love of Charleston and the beaches.
