As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

...to think that my child looks exactly like me? Is that narcissistic? Everyone tells me that he looks just like DH, but I do most of the staring at this baby, and I'm sorry----he's all me. I'm just sayin'.
What are the traits that get carried in your family? I guess I sometimes do see some Wally in DS, but I think I deserve some credit too.
I thought the same thing about Josh when he was born. I use to hate it when people said he looked like DH. What were they thinking? He's got my eyes and the "neuman" smile (a very important genetic trait to have in my family).
I don't think it's narcissistic at all! He IS your son afterall! I'm sure people will change what they say on a daily basis. I really look most like my mom and I'm really happy about that!
Everyone says DJ looks like Walt. For pete's sake, I'm the one who toted him around for 10 months!!! He should have had the decency to take after me just a little! Sadly, except for his coloring, he's all Walt. Though recently, I noticed he's got my smile now. Look!
So, no, I don't think it's narcissistic. The least he could do is look a little like you after all you've been through!!!
I think it's so hard to tell right away with newborns, I always find they change from day to day.
My kids are such a mix. Tyler looks like me, but has a hairline (cowlicks and all) like his dad's side of the family and certain facial expressions make him resemble my DFIL. Caroline definitely resembles DMIL, but has my hair and eye colour and my mom's skin (tans in the heat).
My in-laws were always annoying the crud out me when they would say she looks just like DMIL, because I didn't see it as much. There is a picture they gave me when Caroline was about 7 months - on the bottom is a photo of DMIL and on top a photo of Caroline. Now there were a series of pictures I took of Caroline and this is one of them and I think she resembles pictures of my mother as a small child. I think it's the shape of the face and the hair. But everyone who sees it, is stunned by the resemblance. The other thing that bugs me is when DMIL will say, "I don't know where she gets that hair, I never had hair like that". Ummm, I did - the only thing different is the colour, I was a lot lighter. I try not to let it get under my skin, but it definitely bugs me some days.
I have a friend who would insist her son looked just like her DH. But this child looked just like her side of the family. She didn't realize it until she saw pictures of her brothers (they're twins) at the same age - spitting image.
I think part of it is that we carry around this baby for 10 months and then give birth. If I did all this work - it should definitely look like me! And people sometimes see what they want to see.
Ariana was a spitting image of her father. My mom was the only one who thought she looked like me at all. She is just now starting to show some of mom's qualities. Phoenix on the other hand, looks like Ariana did at this age, but somehow looks more like me. I always felt a little sad when people would say she looks like jsut her daddy. I carried her and nurtured her, and she can't even look a little like me?

I definitely think he looks like you! and NO that's not narcissistic. Neither of my boys looked like me at first but the older they get, they more they seem to be favoring me.

My boy looks just like me, except that he has Daddy eyes. DH's family refuses to admit that he looks anything like me. Not even DH believes that they look alike other than the eyes. DD looks less like me, but enough that at the grocery store strangers will comment "They both look just like you." I think it's pretty common!

It has been a loooooooong time since I've posted here, but I've kept tabs on your pregnancy, Rachel. Congratulations to you and Wally- your son is beautiful, and I think he really favors you based on pics I saw back in the day. Enjoy each and every minute with him.
D.B. and I hear all the time that our son Xander looks either like D.B. or like my mother, which is pretty hilarious, seeing as how we are adopting him! Now that I'm surprisingly (shockingly!!) pregnant, we'll see who's got the strongest genes around Thanksgiving of this year!
My dd is the spitting image of her father. You would never know I had anything to do with her. It's funny what people see because I have a nephew that is the spitting image of his uncle (his dad's brother) yet his mom and grandmom (on his mom's side) swear he looks just like his other uncle (his mom's brother). My dn has dark blond/lt brown hair with blue eyes just like my brother, his other uncle is a red head with red head coloring. We just smile and nod our heads when they say it.

Well, I think my kids look just like DH, and nothing like me (except the hair color) And that's usually what people tell us too. Oh well
Marnie - I think both your kids favor you, especially in certain pictures - must be something in their expression...I can't put my finger on it, but I have thought that before!
I agree with whoever said that people see what they want to see. I'm sure Jimmy will favor you both, but I don't think it's bad to want him to look like you
I don't think I look much like either of my parents - my mom agrees with me. My other siblings favor one parent or the other very strongly, but me - I'm just unique . I do have some qualities from each parent - I'm short like my mom, I had (pre-braces) a gap in my front teeth like my daddy, have the Liles nose, dimples from the Paschals, etc. Sometimes I'll see pictures of my mom when she was a teenager and think we favor, but most often not, even though more and more people tell me I look "just like her." My family swears I look a lot like my G'Pa Liles - but I don't remember him, so I can't say. Looking in pictures, we do have the same chin and long eyelashes. <<shrug>> One of my nieces favors me a lot, which tickles me to no end.
Further proof of the inconsideration shown me by my in-laws. My MIL took pictures of two portraits hanging in her house. One is my DH and one is my DS. She swears they could be twins.

DS:
I think DMIL would love to be able to prove that DS was some sort of immaculate conception comprised entirely of her favorite son and that I was just a surrogate. She took pictures of portraits to prove it to me.
