As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

For those who have taken the KTTK tour, please tell me ALL about it!! My friend is trying to decide whether or not to take this tour while on her honeymoon in July 2008. Tell me about your experiences!
I have taken it twice and will probably do it again sometime. You tour down Main Street and hear about the Disney way of designing and also about the windows on Main Street. At some point you go down for a brief stop in the utilidors. A couple of rides will be built into the trip. I've gone on Buzz, HM, and Pirates. A trip behind the scenes to the parade float storage is also part of the tour. Lunch is served in the upper room of Columbia Harbour HOuse where a Q&A session and discussion is held. It is a wonderful tour and well worth the cost. Discounts are available to Disney Visa holders and AP holders.

It's a great tour with lots of info, well worth the $$$, lunch was good, we rode HM, and got to see under MK. The tour lasted 4.5 hours, we did have someone with an ECV (by the end of the tour I wanted to climb in with him!)
Dh and I did it 10 years ago (WOW) on our honeymoon and loved it! I always love to hear the behind the scene type of stuff. BUT I am still having nightmares about see Pooh feet without the rest of Pooh in the Utilidor. That and Capt. Hook without a head.
I've done it twice too and would highly recommend it! Worth every penny! It was so interesting to be able to go below into the Utiladors and they tell you all sorts of neat trivia. Pris pretty much sums up what you do. I would tell your friends to go for it!
We loved it and I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone - being allowed into the Utilidors under the Magic Kingdom is such a great thing to be able to do and you do see some sights down there!
I'm so glad to hear that others have really enjoyed this tour. I took the plunge and booked us for this one on Monday, June 18. Now I'm even more excited about seeing the Utilidors and the other behind the scenes stuff.
I'm also going back and forth about this tour! If we do it it will be on our last day, and I just don't know if we'll have enough energy left. Everyone's reviews make it sound fantastic though!
We did it a couple of years ago and it. There was so much cool and interesting information. The tour Disneyfied my DH and sealed my fate as a Disney geek.

I just did a reservation for it today. Since taking a tour is part of my package, I figured I would do the one at the place that started it all here in Florida. It should be fun and a great way to see the park.

Had a great time in 2007 solo but will have to take someone next time.
I've done this tour once with my son and am planning to take it again with my DD. It was a good tour and I was really interested in a lot of the things we learned and am looking forward to going on it again. Lunch at CHH was good, and we were offered free beverages in the morning to grab before the tour - we hadn't expected that so we had stopped off before the tour and bought some water to bring with us.
That said...I hope my DD & I will get a different tour guide than the guy DS & I had -- he rushed us through the Utilidors; and then wasted so much time telling us about the way Disney handles trash and Make-A-Wish. Not that those aren't important, but they just weren't A) expected, because nobody mentions them in threads like this about the tour and B) could have taken less than ½ hour each to talk about them (45 minutes in the case of Make-A-Wish) and still got his point across. We only rode 2 rides: PotC and HM, but we learned some fascinating stuff about both rides. Our tour lasted 5½ hours and we were exhausted afterwards so I recommend planning some downtime in the afternoon following the tour.
