As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Have you ever played shower games? My friend Shelly's bachelorette party was jammed packed full of naughty games, but otherwise most of the showers I've attended have been gameless. Yesterday my Sister in Law threw me a fantastic baby shower, and my brother came out with 10 different unlabeled baby foods and we all had to taste them and guess what they were. I got 3 out of 8 right, bad new mommy.
The second game I couldn't get into---it was "guess what the baby ate" and it was all this gross stuff like barbecue sauce and mustard that they put in a diaper, we had to smell it and guess what it was. Pass! I only tried to guess 2 out of 5 and got them both wrong.
The third was my favorite---It's a little PG-13, so you've been warned--at the end of the shower it was revealed that our friend Laura was taking down some of my quotes, and the premise was, that it was a list of things that I said at the baby's conception. Some were "Is my Aunt Betty going to be here?" "We have a pink one of these, but this one is bigger." "Oh look at this cool bag!" "You can't freak out over poop." "It didn't taste bad but I don't know what it is." (<--from the baby food game) and there were other ones that get even worse, if not mortifying for my poor two brothers.
Aside from games, we really made out at the shower and I feel very blessed to have so many people around us to help us bring little Henway into a safe and secure world. Here are some of the thinner photos (pickin's were slim!)
Me and the Baby Shower Wonderland (the photo doesn't do it justice, the room was a magical wonderland and I got a tiara and wand to boot! )
Lasagne!
Loot! (Sorry, the exersaucer is sideways )
Sooooo---what are some of the fun shower games you have played?
We played "How big is Mom?" Everyone passed around a roll of toilet paper and tore off as many sheets as they thought I was around the biggest part of my belly. My mother cheated. She hugged me just before they started to pass the TP so she could feel me up.
Gosh, we played so many games. I'm trying to remember them all. The cool thing was that my best friend Dani bought duplicates of all the prizes for the games. So, whatever the winner got, I got one too. Foot soak, and fancy Italian soaps, a glass frame, a photo snow globe, etc.
We also played the word game. Everyone got a miniature pacifier on a ribbon as they arrived to wear around their necks. If someone heard you say the word "baby", you had to give them your necklace. The winner was the person with the most pacifier necklaces at the end of the shower.
Not a game, but Dani also surprised Walt and I with gifts - a cake made of diapers for me with all sorts of toys and things tucked inside the layers and a Daddy Diaper Tool Belt for Walt with rubber gloves, goggles, and 18" stainless steel tongs!
Daddy Diaper Tool Belt for Walt with rubber gloves, goggles, and 18" stainless steel tongs!
Ohmigosh, Wally got one of those last week, it was hilarious---it came with little "Daddy's Little Helper" tool-themed outfits (which is perfect since he's planning on raising Henway as his little assistant ) and a giant can of Lysol.
Most of the showers I've been to have been the games you played, plus:
1. The "Remember What it Was" game. THat's where they bring out a tray with 10 to 20 items on it, all relating to a baby. It is walked around the room, and everyone gets about 20 seconds to look at it. It is taken away to another room. Then, you have 2 or 3 minutes to write down everything you remember - person with the most correct items wins!
2. Name the famous kids. Given a sheet of paper with things like: Name the 6 Brady Bunch kids. Name the 7th that came in later. Name the Cosby kids. Name the kids from........ You get the picture.
3. We never tasted the baby food, we left the jar unopened and guessed from the look of it. The jars were then marked as to what they were, and the mom took them home (we are a frugal bunch)
4. There was usually a quiz about the parents - how they met, when they were born, how much they weighed, when they married, etc.
5. Blindfold baby changing. Take a baby doll, and try to change the diaper and dress it, while blindfolded.
Too funny about the tool belt, I bet my Dh wishes he had one
Looks like you had fun! The only game I remember playing aat mine was gift bingo. the only thing I remember was my DMIL didn't give me enough time to eat.
I'm glad you had such a great time and had so many wonderful people there for you.
I can't wait for our shower at the end of April. My friends have told me that they have several things prepaired for my DH to embarrass him. It's an on-going joke with them and DH so I bet it will be really funny! The best part I think is that it's a co-ed shower.
