As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm trying to decide on our summer vacation. I just looked at RV rental sites. I thought that might be an interesting vacation. Anyone ever done that? I'm thinking maybe from MN to see Grand Canyon and Sedona. Maybe I'm being too ambitious! I traveled for all vacations via RV with my parents during all my teenage years, but there was only me. I have two sons ages 10 and 14 who fight like cats and dogs and wonder if that might be too much togetherness! Any thoughts?

I can't say that I've spent any time in an RV on vacation, but I just watched the movie with Robin Williams and I thought that looked like a good time!
If your kids fight like cats and dogs (like my sister and I did), throwing them in the RV together is going to work out one of two ways -
A). They'll become best friends forever due to all the close time they spent together; or
B). They will destroy each other, the RV, and probably your mental health, by the end of the trip.
My family drove our RV from the middle of Saskatchewan to Yuma, Arizona. It was one of those smaller RVs with the bed over the cab. There were my parents, me and my DH (he was my boyfriend back then), my sister and my brother. My brother would have been 13, and my sister was 15. They got along like oil and water, but I don't remember them getting on each others' nerves too much while we were travelling.
I think it depends on how well your boys travel. My siblings and I were used to long road trips - our parents used to pack us all up in the station wagon and off we'd go... from Saskatchewan to Disneyland; from Saskatchewan to Victoria, BC; from Saskatchewan to Phoenix, Arizona.... So the RV trip was actually a luxury - what with having a bathroom, a table, and even a tv to keep us occupied when we weren't stopping at tourist traps and sightseeing hotspots.

I think it's a great idea. We did all of our vacations in an RV (but it was just me as well)--- we drove to California from Philly(stopping at Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Mt Rushmore etc). Travelled through Canada, did Maine, another New England trip, and many to Disney. I think your boys would have a GREAT time!!! Do they get along well? We took my cousin with us on some trips, and we had fun. Other trips we went with another family with two boys--- so the three of us had a great time (that family had their own RV). Those boys fought terribly, but not because of the RV, they have been fighting since I met them when we were 3 and 4, and to this day they're still fighting-- so I don't think the RV had anything to do with it. Over the years we had three different RVs--- we started out with a micro mini motor home (which we did our trip to california). That was cool because I could lay up on the bed above the cab and read, do puzzles etc., however hard becuase we couldn't just unhook our car and drive around (unless you can tow a car, which I've seen people do). Then we had a pop-up trailer/tent. That was cool, but not good for a trip where your moving around. We used that on a trip to Cape Cod but we were just going to one campsite and not moving. We also did it for weekends at the beach, and it was ok for that as well. I'd say, not good for a trip where your moving to different campsites. Then we had the trailer. We did that for lots and lots of trips--- many where we were going to different campgrounds in one trip. I liked the motorhome the best, but only if you can tow a car (our motorhome was small, and didn't have the power to tow). Ok--- after this post, I really want an RV.
