As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

....that my flight to my 10-day Budapest birthday trip takes off. My doctor said I shouldn't go but Delta wouldn't refund my tickets, they'd only give me another set of tickets that I'd have to use before August 30. DH said that if I could squeeze it out that we could go to you-know-where with them, but I'm reluctant to plan anything before Henway's born, and even then----he'll be really small, I'll need extra time off work, we'd HAVE to stay at an Epcot resort, what if he doesn't travel well, August is HOTTTT, what if we're exhausted, afraid to spend the munny, etc.
Still, I checked into renting points for four days at BWV which wouldn't be that bad if I got the right deal. I dunno, I just hate the thought of those ticket$ going to wa$te, and there's really no other place to go. DH even said that he only wanted to go to WDW because it's safer than, say, staying at a DL Good Neighbor hotel (traffic) and then said "Darn you for getting me all into Disney, you did this to me!" I think I'm going to wait until after he's born to give it more thought. What do you think?
Traveling with a newborn can be really easy, and it can be really hard. At least you're already familiar with WDW so that helps I'd wait until after he's born to see what kind of rhythm/routine you get in to before making any decisions
Disney makes it a lot easier to visit the parks with an infant. Their baby stations are always nice and cool. They have great rocking chairs and couches to sit and nurse or just rest. The changing areas have big tables to change them on and there's products for sale, like diapers, if you run out! It's a lot different from being able to do it without little ones tho...you'll need to take more breaks to cool off and more naps at your resort. So if you think of it as a relaxing trip, where you're not going to be upset by not being able to see and do everything, you'll be alright!
I had to cancel a trip in the fall because my midwife said I couldn't fly at the time. Delta first said they would just give me a credit for a ticket that I had to use within one year of when I purchased the original. Then I got a letter from Delta (after I faxed a note from my midwife to them) saying they would refund the entire purchase price. I guess they go on a case by case basis and mine was for domestic travel, so maybe that is what made the difference.
I've flown with a 6 week old before and it was no big deal. Actually, she was so much easier to fly with at 6 weeks than she was at 16 months! Travelling with an infant can be as difficult or easy as you make it. If you're a nervous parent to begin with, then its going to be a bit rough. If you're laid back and just go with the flow, I don't think you'll have any trouble.

I flew when my DS was only 2 weeks old. He was a trouper. He flew again at 3 months and again he did great! I think the best suggestion is to see what kind of sleeper you got and go from there. The motion of vehicles soothes most infants.
I'd also try with the note from the doctor beyond the phone level. The people on the phone usually have strict guidelines. But Delta is not going to want to "anger" a customer, either. What have you got to lose?

1. Try to get a letter from the doctor
2. If you get one - fax to Delta and ask for a refund again
3. If they won't refund - ask for a longer extension on the "must use by" date
4. August is hot - but the parks are open later - and with a stroller or sling - I think you could do it - as long as you plan on lots of inside ACed things and breaks.....
I can't even tell you guys how many different times and ways I've gotten in touch with Delta and attempted to get in touch with them, let's just say it's a maddening process and they have seen 2 notes from my doctor (first one wasn't good enough) and that I don't appear to be in the refund dept, just credit transfer. Since it's due to a medical reason they were able to extend the use for 30 days (Was July 31, now Aug 30) and waive the $200 transfer fee. My BP honestly can't handle to deal with them again. :
Wait till after Henway is born before dealing with Delta again. That way you can decide if you want to purchase for August, or a later date, with the doctor's note ready at hand. Pat would say, "it ain't over till it's over", so I would not worry about the refund, yet.
WOW, tough decision. If you have a Csection that will be difficult. Good luck on your decision. But I agree that traveling with an infant is much easier than a toddler.
Traveling with an infant - easy.
But, you need to remember that you CAN NOT put sunscreen on a baby under 6 months, and they are still working on regulating their body temp - he should be okay with a sunshade on the stroller (make sure it has airflow), a snap on fan, and little clothing. Keep blankets handy for going into buildings.
I know you hate the idea of losing your money, and going to WDW is perfectly feasible. But if you can't or don't for some reason, remember the reason that you're not going is this wonderful gift you're being given, and HE far outweighs any price tag you could put on a lost trip.
Traveling with a newborn can be really easy, and it can be really hard. At least you're already familiar with WDW so that helps I'd wait until after he's born to see what kind of rhythm/routine you get in to before making any decisions
I would wait until he's born then make my decision. It'll be to hard to make a big decision like this not knowing what life is going to throw at you after he's born. I understand the plane ticket situation. They only gave you until August to use them? I would try to get them to extend the 'use by date' if you can. Talk to someone else there and tell them your situation, maybe, just maybe, someone will help you. Good luck!!
