As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Crocs
I have read and heard about the Crocs shoes. I know lots of people here have them.
Has anyone who has purchased crocs been disappointed with them? If you have and love them, what do you like best? Since they are plastic, do your feet get hot in them? Finally, I am someone who enjoys support from walking shoes when I am on my feet for long periods of time (such as a day at Disney). Do Crocs give you enough support for a day at Disney? Sorry for so many questions in one post.

Re: Crocs
I wondered all of the same things that you did when I forked out the money for a pair of plastic-y shoes. But, they are great!
Pros:
* They are lightweight. It feels like you are walking on a cushion.
* If it rains at the parks or you get on a wet ride, you don't have the wet, wrinkled feet like you would with tennies.
* They have holes in them, which keep your feet cool.
Cons:
* The support is o.k.- check into some of the specially-made Crocs that offer more support for people with feet problems. I have them, and my crocs are o.k. to wear for about 6-8 hours, and then my feet begin getting tender and the support isn't enough anymore.
* If it does rain, your feet kind of slide around a bit inside. Not as bad as flip-flops, but still slippery.
I wore my crocs to parks that I wouldn't be doing *as much* walking. (MGM and Animal Kingdom- we tend to stay there for less than 8 hours). At MK and Epcot, I stuck with tennis shoes and a good, supportive sock. I had very few foot issues on this trip, which has always been a negative part of vacationing at Disney, as my feet can get pretty bad (Can't put any pressure on them when I first wake up without crumpling to the floor if I didn't take care of them the night before)
Hope this helps you make a good decision.

Re: Crocs
Shelly,
Thanks so much for your honest review of Crocs. While the shoes themselves are not that expensive, I just can't decide if I would wear them that much. Most I know that have them love them, but I am just not sure.

Re: Crocs
I'm a Croc addict. I used to be a Birkenstock addict b/c of my foot issues, they were the ONLY thing I could wear.
I bought some "croc-offs" at Payless b/c they had tie-dye , but they weren't so good for my feet and were too hot (I HATE hot feet).
I finally sprung for the real thing and have never looked back. Now that the Disney ones are out, I don't see me wearing much of anything but Crocs. I even have the Mary Jane style for dressier things (although, I'm not a dresser-upper). They are not at all hot, plenty of ventilation and the main difference I noticed was the little raised nubs in the footbed that the fakes don't have. It's like a little foot massage. I did 2 conventions (concrete floors) with several days at WDW in between in my Croc Caymans and Mary Janes only and never had a bit of problem with my feet.
I also hate wearing shoes indoors, but I have actually gone to get ready for bed to find that I've been in them all day and hadn't even noticed. Com-fee.

Re: Crocs
Kathy - I am a shoe addict and the first time I saw Crocs I thought, "Good Lord, Who on earth would wear those god-awful things???!" Turns out - I would!!! I couldn't resist when they cam out with the pink Mickey Crocs and I have to say that I love them. They are so lightweight and comfortable. I wore them all over Disney! I found that I could not wear them on back to back days but alternating them with my sneakers kept my feet much happier than on past trips. I do find that the bottoms of my feet do sweat a little bit due to the nature of the material but in general the ventilation holes kept my feet pretty comfy. Now that I'm home, I keep them by the back door and slip them on to go get the paper, to take the dog out, to take out the garbage, etc. I wear them far more than I ever thought I would! Re: Crocs
I now own "real" Crocs; I used to have Nothinz, which I also loved. I wore them to death. I occassionally wear "other" shoes and I pay for it dearly when I do.
I almost always wear mine with socks; even in snowy weather, they're great! Again, you get a little soggy when it's raining, but I wouldn't trade them for anything.
I agree, the other brands can by iffy; but Crocs and Nothinz are great!

Re: Crocs
I just got my second pair for Christmas. They're Penn State Crocs!!!
They are about the ugliest pair of shoes I've ever owned, but definately the most comfy! I wore them everyday(except for 1 morning) at DisneyWorld in August and my feet AND legs have never held up so well on vacation! I highly recommend them. I'm trying to get a Disney pair, but I refuse to pay $70 for them on Ebay! They're sold out on the Crocs web site!

Re: Crocs
I got the red Mickey crocs for Christmas and I love them! They are so comfy - even when I wore them to work! I stand for almost my whole shift so I can appreciate what these shoes do for my feet and legs! I can't wait to try them out at WDW!

Re: Crocs
I'm getting more and more used to them and am even considering getting a pair. Of course the fact that they have Disney styles does help. I bought my cousin's daughter pair for Christmas since she is on a swim team and they are perfect for that. She loves them. I think I'm going to break down and get some.

Wore them some in the parks, mainly to the pool and such.
Wear them all over here at home, outside in the yard, to the store, I have even worn them to church!

Re: Crocs
I still think they are truly ugly, but I did buy a pair before my trip to WDW last summer. They were a godsend...really! My son and I traded off wearing them (after his feet started killing him the first day). We found that for park touring, we needed to wear socks with them...otherwise our 'hotspots' would start to hurt again. S
I wear them walking around our neighborhood sometimes and occasionally when doing errards, so I noticed that the treads are starting to get worn. Does anyone know about how long a pair will last?

Re: Crocs
I just got my first pair this weekend, I love them and now I want another pair, perhaps Red Disney Crocs for my trip in May. DGS, Skyler, 4 yrs, now has three pairs, and he loves them. Mimi (me) broke down and bought him a green pair, green is his favorite color. I think I will get him a pair of Disney Crocs before we go in May. DH tried mine on and said they are comfy but he does not want a pair.
