As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

How do you scrapbook?
Do you juggle a couple albums at a time or are you a one album at-a-time scrapper?
Me. I juggle albums. I am finishing up a redo of our wedding album and the kids albums are always a work in progress. The only time I finish an album up immediately is a vacation album.

Re: How do you scrapbook?
I do one page at a time. I got a really neat scrapbook from AC Moore. It is a three ring binder that is enclosed in a box with a latch on it. I do pages as I feel like it and put them in there. I've done two books start to finish. The first was my wedding. The second was an 8x8 brag book I had made of my kids for my grandmother for Christmas this year.

Re: How do you scrapbook?
One album at a time, here. Right now all my disney stuff is spread out in the home office so I'm trying to get all my disney albums done. Every once in a while I'll do random pages, like bday or Halloween ones, then I file them in an album for that year (that has no other photos in it, ha!). I'm not the kind of person who can have multiple books going, not sure why. I'm not good at multi-tasking either and most of you on this board now I can't scrap and talk at the same time. Re: How do you scrapbook?
I am not very organized so I have lots of stuff in progress.
I'm relatively new to scrapbooking so I have only completed one album. It was a gift, a labor of love, for my Mom and Step-dad to thank them for taking our whole blended family to the beach during the summer of '05 (24 people in a huge beach house - tons of fun!). Right now I'm focusing on finishing an 8 x 8 album of family birthdays for '06. Then I'll start on an 8 x 8 book for my neice's HS graduation in June. I'm also working on a huge Disney book that will combine stuff from all our Disney trips. This will probably be at least 2 volumes and never be completely finished! At least it's fun to relive my trips through all the pic's and memorabilia!

Re: How do you scrapbook?
One at a time, right now it's my first every Christmas book and I'm not very pleased with my first attempt here. I seem to have so little trouble thinking about spreads and layouts for WDW, but Christmas is hurting my brain.

That's interesting, I have a hard time with Christmas, too. Each year, they have a tendency to look the same!

Re: How do you scrapbook?
I always have a family album going with day to day events and holidays (band concerts, holidays, birthdays, etc.)
Each girl has a school album. I update that yearly (at least I try too. )
Mikaela's baby book is pretty much done, but I still have to work on Meghann's more. I do that when I am "caught up". (Yeah right!)
I also have a Christmas album that I update yearly (or try to).
I work on my family album when I go to the monthly Creative Memories workshops.
I work on my Disney albums when I go to the monthly Chicago Disney friends workshop (or the yearly Passporter Mall of America meet!).

Re: How do you scrapbook?
It seems long before I finish an album, I start another project. Hence, nothing ever gets done.
I do have albums for the seasons started that are ongoing. Spring is for things like Easter and DD's birthday (I am several years behind on these events). Summer is for Fourth of July and outdoor activities that we do in the summer months (also several years behind). Fall is for first day of school, Halloween and Thanksgiving (yep, another album that is way behind) and Winter is for Christmas, New Years and any other fitting pictures of snow or the like. Thanks to the PassPorter challenge this month, I am getting caught up on that one!
And then there are the Disney albums. I have an ABC album of our January trip from last year in the works (I think I am up to the letter G) an autograph book from that trip to finish, my Halloween book from MNSSHP of 06 and a mini album of DD's trip to BBB that I decided to start!
I guess I scrap by whatever I am in the mood to do. I hope this year I will be able to force myself to finish what I have started and not start any new projects until they are done!

Re: How do you scrapbook?
Pretty much one album at a time, although I have a tendency to start albums and not finish them! I have a California vacation album that only has six pages to go, yet is still not done. Then I started an album for DD's high school graduation--she is now a sophomore in college--that is nowhere near being completed. I am currently working on a January 2005 trip to WDW. Maybe someday I'll go back and finish those other albums!

Re: How do you scrapbook?
I usually do one album at a time, particularly if it's a vacation scrapbook. I also have a Christmas album that I add to, although I'm behind the past 3 years. There are a few different projects I want to do, so I may have to start working on different books and mix up my scrapbooking.

Re: How do you scrapbook?
I have a couple of trip albums in the works, plus I really need to get myself in gear to get the old family photos scrapped!!!
The problem is that I tend to only work on one album at a time; plus I bounce around from hobby to hobby - What I need to do is set up a weekly schedule, and have each day be designated for a specific hobby...for example: Monday - beading, Tuesday - scrapping, Wednesday - sewing, etc. If I do that, I may just be able to get things finished....You guys have no idea of the number of partly done projects I have around here....Then again, if I could get my workroom organized, it'd be much easier to do my fun stuff.... Re: How do you scrapbook?
I am typically a "one book at a time" scrapper . . . BUT . . . sometimes I will do a page here and there for another book. That is if I "remember" to do any scrapping in the first place . . .

Re: How do you scrapbook?
First of all, I don't get to scrapbook enough! I just hosted my first CM party and it is really making me want to scrap again though!
Completed Albums: ONE! Disney - from our 2003 trip.
Incomplete Albums: Five
Jamie's
Family (that really isn't incomplete, it's ongoing
3 7x7 Disney albums for the kids
Will be working on soon album: One - Disney Trip 2006!
I did an album for my grandmother but won't give it to her - she is infamous for cutting out a picture from something and taping it somewhere else. (Terrible of me, I know - she has seen it, but I keep telling her I'm adding more pictures and she can't have it back yet!)
