As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The “Yes we are going again” first ever Holiday Trip to see the Mouse Pre Trip Report!! 12/8
Starring:
Me, Angie, 34
Hubby, Scott, 38
Dear Son, Logan, 8
When: Wednesday Dec 13 until Sunday Dec 17
Where: Animal Kingdom Lodge (our third stay)
Well, here we go again. First of all, yes I know that I haven’t finished my October trip report yet but I am working on it. Unfortunately, the flu hit our household last week and Logan and I have been very sick. Honestly, I was beginning not to look forward to this trip because I feel so unprepared but then it hit me today. I am going to Disney again!!
This is our third trip in 6 months!! Our first was in June for 12 days for a work convention and Logan’s birthday, next we spent 10 days in October for our annual fall trip, and now we are going again for a short first ever holiday trip to Disney. We are staying only four days but we are on a mission to see and do everything we can while we are there.
Planning for this trip started back in July. Once we had our October plans set, I began to investigate everything I could about the holidays at the World. I wanted to hit the major events and also look around at the resorts at the holiday decorations. We are big on Christmas in our house. Everything comes down off the walls, mantle, counters, and everything Christmas goes up. We have four trees in our house, a village scattered through two rooms in the house, and of course decorations outside. Scott really gets into all the decorating. He is like a Christmas drill sergeant until everything gets into its place. . We have always wanted to go to WDW at Christmas but it is really a hard time of year to get away and costly since we don’t want to miss our annual fall trip. This year, however our AP’s made it possible. No tickets to buy, a room discount, and the DDE card for our food, made it a reality for us.
I searched out room possibilities first saying we would go the economy route and stay at the Pop Century. I think Scott knew that it would never happen but he went along with those plans. Then after the AP discounts came out we switched our plans and booked a room at Port Orleans-French Quarter. We stayed here several years ago and loved it so it seemed like a great choice. Our reservation was set and our deposit was made. Scott made our dining reservations and got our choice for dinner at Le Cellier for the Candlelight Processional Package. I was on top of the world with that!!
We also planned to go the Mickey’s Christmas Party on the AP discount night and bought our tickets for it. We will pick them up at the window on the day of the party.
So, it looked like everything was set in stone but stone around here is like putty when it comes to Disney plans. I was looking around on the passholder’s web site and checked on prices at some of the deluxe hotels for the time of our trip. Wouldn’t you know it? ? A standard room at AKL just happened to be only about $160 more than our POFQ room. After a phone call and a little whining (begging) to Scott, he agreed to change the reservation. Of course, that meant that he also had to make breakfast reservations for us at Boma during our stay. You know that you can’t stay at AKL without eating at Boma!
Here is a look at our plans now:
12/13 Arrive at Animal Kingdom Lodge
Character Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern 6:25
12/14 Magic Kingdom in the a.m.
Lunch at Kona Cafe 2:05 , Resort hopping by
monorail to see the Christmas decorations
7:00 Mickey's Christmas Party (AP discount)
12/15 Epcot all day
Boma Breakfast 7:30 a.m.
Candlelight Processional Package
Dinner at 5:00 Le Cellier
Candlelight Processional (Kirk Cameron) 8:15
12/16 MGM all day
Lunch at Sci Fi 12:50
Osborne Lights
12/17 Check Out
Breakfast at Chef Mickey's 9:20
Go Home!
So, that brings us to today. I am still unprepared, getting over the flu, and unpacked but I am going to Disney next week! I already told Scott to prepare for tears because I know that I will cry when I see all the Holiday sights at the World. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and I will of course report to you when I get back on our first holiday trip!

Sorry if I ran you off from Pop! I will be at the same MVMCP and will be seeing CP the same day. Don't know what time, though as I will be in the standby line, so it depends on when I can get in. I will see if I recognize your DS anywhere!
Looks like they are getting the cold weather out of the way this week (today's high predicted to be 57). Right now, they are predicting on our arrival day (12/13) a high of 78!!

Re: The “Yes we are going again” first ever Holiday Trip to see the Mouse Pre Trip Report!! 12/8
Well, it looks like our trips are overlapping again. I looked for y'all in June and never had a sighting. We come in Friday evening and are spending Saturday at MK and Epcot, so I guess we won't be able to have a sighting this trip either.
Your plans look great. I hope you can get some rest this week and feel better by Wednesday!
Enjoy and Merry Christmas.
