As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

New PassPorter Title Poll -- Please Give Us Your Input
Hello!
We're planning to do a second edition of PassPorter's Walt Disney World for Your Special Needs next fall, but we feel the title has been causing some confusion -- special needs means certain things to certain people. Some people don't identify with the title, others feel the scope of the book doesn't match the title. So we're considering a new name that more accurately identifies the scope of the book, which covers traditional special needs as well as everyday needs like infants, seniors, diet, pregnancy, addiciton recovery, and religion. Please keep in mind that we want a title that speaks to its intended audience without seeming too general -- we don't want readers who are disappointed because they thought they were purchasing a general guidebook.
So we've come up with a bunch of title ideas -- can you please look over these and let us know your favorites? Your input means a lot to us!
Note: These ideas are for the main title only -- we'll also add a sub-title that further explains the purpose of the book, such as A guide for travelers with specialized needs, or Enabling vacations and cruises for everyone's special needs. But let's just look at the main title first.
If you have another idea, or have comments, you're welcome to reply to this thread with your thoughts!

Re: New PassPorter Title Poll -- Please Give Us Your Input
Now that I read your discription of the book I will probably be ordering one of those too. I don't know why I never looked at it before. I bought Passpoter DL when I have no immmediate plans for that and just the other day I ordered the DCL Passporter. No plans for that in the near future either but I thought both of these would be a tool for getting a plan in place. Well now I'm going to have to add this one to my collection. Thanks for the info and thanks for all the great books.

Re: New PassPorter Title Poll -- Please Give Us Your Input
I like the "Personalized" title better than the rest. I thought of another one that's along the same lines:
Passporter's WDW - Especially for You!
(maybe you could put the "special" part of "especially" in a different font or color to reflect the Special needs aspect.

I like "Personalized" but I would never think it would have Special Needs info in it...How about a little more like "Passporter Personalized: Because everyone has Special Needs" or something to that effect....

I like this one as well I've been pondering this since you posted it, as I don't think the suggestions given really give the reader an idea that it is a special needs book (although I understand that there will be a subtitle). Having the "special" highlighted or in different font should lead the reader that there must be something up regarding special.
I'm still pondering

Re: New PassPorter Title Poll -- Please Give Us Your Input
I like the current title the best. Why? I'll take it title by title.
WDW Unlimited - There are limits. Limits are a fact of life. Whether you have "special needs" or not. The vast majority of us are limited by work, money, & a list of other things that make it highly unlikely that we can go & stay for as long as we would like. While Disney is extremely accessible & willing to help; there are things that they either can't do because of current laws or will not do for whatever the reason. Therefore WDW Unlimited is just inaccurate & misleading.
Master WDW - I doubt anyone ever masters it. If mastering it was easy cm's wouldn't have to go to Disney College & even at that I don't think any except Walt himself (if he was still alive) could legitimatley claim to have mastered WDW.
Personlaized - Okay. Do I really need to spell this one out? Any trip anyone takes is personalized whether a travel agent books it or the person taking the trip books it. Even tours such as those offered by Globus, Cosmos, & Trafalgar can be personalize by choosing what you do with the free time your given, what optional activities you choose to do etc. For that matter if you get enough people together & are willing to pay the money you can create your tour using their buses & guides.
WDW Enabled - makes it sounds like a piece of equipment that's been upgraded or modified. WDW Enabled with Mouse Power now with 30% more mouse power
WDW Yes You Can - Err. Didn't know I needed permission and anyway I'm an adult. I have the money & the time. Is there rally anything you could do to stop me?
Mouse Sense - I think that would be a cute title for a kids' version of the PassPorter
Without a Hitch - Any trip runs into problems. Even if it is something minor such as forgetting your toothbrush.
Wide Open - Uh. No, WDW isn't wide open. There are places in the parks that your not allowed for any number of reasons.
Uncomplicated - Your joking? Right? Going to WDW is anything but simple.
Open Mouse - Well either Mickey or Minnie is having surgery or the disney college is having their version of an open house for the family & friends of the cm's
Maybe I'm crazy, but I'll take, "for your special needs" over the others anytime & anywhere.

Re: New PassPorter Title Poll -- Please Give Us Your Input
I like the word accessible - multiple meanings - within reach, easy to deal with, capable of being used. This can relate to how WDW is available to those who have conditions/concerns covered by the book.
Passporter Walt Disney World - Especially Accessible
Passporter Walt Disney World - Entirely Accessible
Passporter Walt Disney World - (enter your modifier here) Accessible
Don't know. Just throwing out ideas. Might sound more like refers to mobility issues?

Re: New PassPorter Title Poll -- Please Give Us Your Input
I ordered it last week because I needed another PP to read, while I wait for the 2007 edition. Wow! It has something in it for everyone. But I could see where the current title could be a little confusing for some. I read the description and had no problems deciding to get it.

I REALLY like Tiff's idea... Accessible Walt Disney World. with the r subtitle PassPorters guide for special needs... or something to that effect, I can't come up with a good subtitle that encompasses all that is in the book.
ETA: Here's a random subtitle ( maybe too long but wanted to throw the whole thought out there): "Managing WDW with special and everyday needs: physical, psychiological, diet, seniors, infancy, addiction addition & more"

Re: New PassPorter Title Poll -- Please Give Us Your Input
I like part of Ann's idea. What about Managing WDW with special and everyday needs, then maybe include balloons with the other info in them. I also agree with revral about the other names. I personally would not buy a book titled that (since I already buy PP reg)

Many of the other wordings suggested, while good, would not make me feel like the book is written with special needs in mind.

As a Special Educator, I particularly like the word ACCESSIBLE - with whatever descriptive word (simply accessible? You're essentially making WDW accessibility simple). Accessible is a word that many people with handicaps are already familiar with. Accessible would help the reader recognize that this book is a tool to help a guest overcome various challenges that one may encounter while a WDW.
Just a thought

I do like this idea!
I thought about the "Personalized" one but that could be a tad bit misleading to some. Some may see "Personalized" and not think of it as "for your special needs", if that makes any sense.
