As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Annual Fall Break Food and Boo to You Too Trip!! Day 6 Updated 12/9!!!!
Annual Fall Break Food and Boo to You Too Trip!!
Cast:
Me, Angela, (aka Angie to family and friends), 33, 11th trip to WDW
DH, Scott, 38, 14 trips to WDW
DS, Logan, 8, 7th trip to WDW since he was 3 (Is he a lucky boy or what?)
I couldn’t come up with a name for this trip report. I don’t like the name that I finally chose but think that it sums up our trip in a few words. I think my creativity bulb is burnt out right now.
I really thought about not doing a report this trip since had so much trouble getting the last one finished but I love reading trip reports so I can’t help but throw mine in! Our last trip to WDW was in June of this year. We had stayed for two weeks and it seemed unbelievable to me that we were already going again for another trip. I am so thankful that we bought those APs.
We knew we would go on our annual fall trip as usual but debated over where to stay. I felt like our trip should be a budget one after the big trip in June but I really didn’t want to stay in a value resort. Nothing against the values, I have just kind of become a hotel snob these days. We felt sure that there would be some kind of AP discount for our stay so we chose to book a moderate. Which moderate to book was another dilemma? We had stayed at POR three times, POFQ once, and Caribbean Beach once. I wanted to try something new.
Coronado Springs looked great from the pictures. For those who don’t know, DS loves everything Mexican so we thought he would enjoy this resort. . I was a little leery about it being a convention hotel but I felt the same way about the Dolphin and it turned out to be great. So, Coronado it was and DH booked it through Disney with the AAA discount for eight nights. When the AP discount came out, we applied it toward the reservation and saved around $100.00. Not the big discount I was hoping for but we’ll take it!!
I was perplexed about our dining choices. As luck would have it, we were missing free dining by one week. DS has a fall break in October and we use it for our fall trip so he doesn’t miss school. This year it is the 2nd week of October so we decided to stay 8 nights beginning on October 7th. (this would change later) The cool thing is that Disney on Ice is going to be in Chattanooga that weekend so we are going to see it the night before we leave. So cool to be seeing Mickey and the gang as a send off for our trip!!
Anyway, back to the dining.
Some choices were simple. Others were hard. We settled on the following after a few changes were made:
Oct 6th, Fri: Alfredo’s 6:15
Oct 7th, Sat: Liberty Tree 12:00
Oct 8th, Sun: Sci Fi 12:30
Oct 9th, Mon: Le Cellier 2:00
Oct 10th Tues: Ohana’s 10:30
Oct 11th Wed: Food and Wine Festival Booths
Oct 12th Thurs: Kona Café 7:10
Oct 13th Fri: Chef Mickey’s 10:30
Jiko 7:30
Oct 14th Sat: Olivia’s 6:00
Oct 15th Sun: Breakfast at Main Street Bakery
Our changes were very few this trip compared to what we normally do. The Olivia’s reservation was originally Maya Grill but after seeing Claudine’s (WDWJamba) report on Olivia’s, I decided we should try it. I am a sucker for crab cakes!! We also changed our ADR at Tony’s to Alfredos because I wasn’t real crazy about our last trip to Tony’s and kept second guessing myself about it.
We decided last week to add another night to our reservation. We had planned on stopping on the way down and spending the night but decided to drive through and spend another night at Disney! That way we are ready to go on Saturday and don’t waste part of the day driving. So, the plans were changed to nine nights and I was very happy!!
It is crazy for me to make so few changes to a Disney trip. I think that the June trip had changed so many times that I just didn’t have it in me to change a lot. Of course, our December trip has already changed many times and it is only a four night trip but that is another report to come!!
Our plans were to leave after DS gets out of school on Friday which would put us arriving at WDW very late. I emailed his teacher this week to see if he would miss anything major by staying out of school that day. She said no, it was fine with her!!
So, now we are leaving about 4 o’clock in the morning on Friday and will be at Disney around 1:00 in the afternoon! I just love it when things come together! That is when I decided to change the Alfredo’s reservation we had on Saturday to Friday night so we could enjoy Epcot for a while that evening. Also, since the Alfredo’s reservation was moved from Saturday, we decided on LTT for lunch at MK that day so we spend our whole day at MK.
Since the final decisions were made all we had left to do was get things in order and get Logan a costume for the Halloween party.

Up Next: Logan’s costume decision and our final plans!!!

Re: Annual Fall Break Food and Boo to You Too Trip!! Pre Trip Oct 6-15!
Great start! I think you will enjoy CSR. I, too, was a little hesitant with staying there due to it being a convention resort, but it ended up working in our favor. The buses were rarely filled to capacity, especially during the day when guests were attending their conventions. I think we only had to stand once. We saw very few people at the quiet pools, if we saw anyone at all. (We always went in the evening, with the exception of the one time DH & DS went to the main pool) The CM's were all friendly and super helpful. While Pepper Market can be confusing at first, it is easy to get a handle on it after the first time. The only complaint (although not really a complaint) is that the resort is sun-drenched during the day, however, this was in the worst of the August heat so you should fare better in that area.

Lucky you to be going yet again!! If you love crab cakes you should try the Yacht Club Galley for breakfast. They have crab cakes benedict! It's crab cakes topped with sliced tomato, and then the eggs and sauce. Delicious! Just had it last week!
Have a wonderful trip!

Re: Annual Fall Break Food and Boo to You Too Trip!! Pre Trip Part Two 10/2!!
Annual Fall Food and Boo to You Too Trip!
Pre-trip Part 2
As I sit here to write this, I am getting overwhelmed. Overwhelmed because we leave for Disney in less than 4 days now and I am so not packed. I actually packed most of Logan’s things yesterday but haven’t touched anything of mine yet. We have lost Logan’s bathing suit over the summer and I had to call my mother to be on the lookout for it at her house. There are no suits left anywhere in stores here so we might have to break down and get him one in Florida if I can’t find it. Just my luck!
I ordered a 2005 deluxe passporter last week and have already received it. They were on clearance here on the passporter site so I thought it was my chance to get the deluxe version. I basically wanted it for the pockets and charts and we can get the 2007 refill when it comes out. It was really a bargain! I also picked up a journal notebook at the Disney store for $2.99 to keep our trip details in. It has Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, Donald and Pluto on the front and imprinted on the pages inside. Another great bargain!
My mother and I took Logan to look for his Halloween costume at the Disney store also. He wanted Jack Sparrow of course. I know there will probably be a ton of them this year but he had his heart set on it so that is what he got of course. They were out of the hats with the dreadlock hair so we went on the waiting list for one. It is not looking like we are going to get one so I will probably just stick a bandana on him. He is just happy with the costume so I am glad to have that out of the way.
Work is crazy right now. My part time job has become more like a full time one and I am stressing out over how to get everything done before I leave. I just can’t wait for my 10 day Disney break!!!!
Scott has been working about 50-60 hours a week for the last several weeks and he is in serious need of a break too. His birthday is today and so looking forward to Friday is a great celebration for him!
Our final plans are pretty laid back. We don’t have a commando schedule. We were just down there for two weeks in June and will be back for a few days in December so we aren’t going to kill ourselves in the parks. We will do all of our favorites I’m sure but we plan on taking it easy and enjoying our break. Here is our schedule:
Friday Oct 6th: Leave home around 4:00 a.m. Arrive at Coronado Springs around 1:00-2:00 p.m. Check into hotel. Rest for a little while. Head over to Epcot for a 6:00 dinner at Alfredo’s. Walk around and enjoy some of the World Showcase. Illuminations?? We’ll see.
Saturday Oct 7th: MK at opening. Rides until lunch at LTT 12:00. See the new 3:00 parade. Maybe back to the hotel for rest/swimming. Back to MK for Spectromagic and Wishes.
Sunday Oct 8th: MGM. Lunch at Sci Fi dine in 12:30. Rides, parade, and Fantasmic.
Monday Oct 9th: Epcot at opening. Rides in Future World until lunch at Le Cellier 2:00. World Showcase for a while in the afternoon. Hotel for rest/swimming. Maybe Downtown Disney this evening.
Tuesday Oct 10th: Breakfast at Ohana with Stitch 10:30. Afternoon at Downtown Disney, swimming at hotel, evening at MK at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!!!
Wednesday Oct 11th: Epcot in the afternoon for the Food and Wine Festival. Sampling the food booths and enjoying the World Showcase. Illuminations if we missed it earlier in the week.
Thursday Oct 12th: Animal Kingdom at opening. Enjoy the day until dinner at Kona Café at 7:10.
Friday Oct 13th: Breakfast at Chef Mickey’s 10:30. Possible trip to Typhoon Lagoon if the weather is good. Dinner at Jiko 7:30.
Saturday Oct 14th: Epcot for AP preview of Nemo!!! MGM for anything left we want to do there. Dinner at Olivia’s 6:00.
Sunday Oct 15th: Pack up and head home after spending the morning at MK.
These are our informal plans. We always end up switching things around when we get there based on the weather, crowds, and what we feel like doing.
So there it is. Our pre trip report is over and our trip report is to come. That is if I can find a way to actually pack for this trip!!!

Re: Annual Fall Break Food and Boo to You Too Trip!! Pre Trip Part Two 10/2!!
Looks like a great plan so far! You're using the same book for a journal as I did. With the orange pages inside?? I think I bought one of every kind, except for Pooh. As for the bathing suit, have you tried looking in a sporting goods store? If you have a Dick's, Model's or Sport Authority near you, they will probably have swim suits. I'm sure they will be more expensive than Wal-Mart or Target, but not as expensive as WDW & you'll be able to save time not looking for one while you're on vacation! (My mom had to do that with me, when I was 11 & it took FOREVER to find me a bathing suit at WDW!!)
