Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What are your experiences at the CBR?

I have been reading some posts on a few other message boards about the bad experiences others have had at the CBR. We will be staying there in November, and some of these posts have me a bit nervous. I have tried to get a room at POR and POFQ (which we stayed at 2 yrs ago and loved!) and also Poly, but there are no rooms available for the discount code I am using.
We are getting 2 connecting rooms this time (for the extra room for the kids to relax and play), but for the same price I could get 1 room at AKL. Any suggestions on what we should do here?

Thanks!
Felicia

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

As much as I love the AKL, I'd have to say two rooms are better than one. I've never stayed at the CBR but my aunt did a week ago. She loved the rooms and had no trouble with any services. The only thing she hated was how spread out it was. I dropped her off one night, and I tell you what, that place is enormous! So if you're not into walking or taking the in-house bus system, you may not love that part of things.

But other than that, she really loved it. She raved and raved about the room they had.

So I say try it. What the heck. Worst case, you don't go back again. But from what I could tell, it's a lovely resort, and has a lot of pluses to it.

Good luck!

CBR is SUPER, nothing bad to say here. The place was just beautiful, the mousekeeping kept the place spotless, and the entire staff was so nice and friendly. Can't go wrong.

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

Felicia,
I have stayed at both POFQ and CBR and while I liked POFQ a lot, I would stay at CBR again before going back to POFQ. I think the trick to making CBR "smaller" is to request preferred rooms. That way you will be close to the main pool, the food court and the resort store. Also if you are using the bus for transportation you may want to request a room near a bus stop. And I agree with a previous poster that two rooms (meaning two bathrooms too) at CBR is a better option than one room at AKL. Good luck with your decision.

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

We have stayed at every resort on property at least once. CBR we have stayed three times and each time it was a good experience. That said, there can be problems anywhere. My favorite resort is POFQ, the last time we had reservations, it turned into such a fiasco, (they didn't have our room!) We had to stay in a Hampton Inn off property. We still go, no matter what with as many tourists that Disney serves, a bad experience is bound to happen and we have had our share with each resort level, but we just make the best of it and keep on truckin. Hope you have a great trip where ever you end up.

ssnssmom!

I am a CBR fan. I love the theme, the colors, and the food court. I also love the larger rooms. I have stayed at PO-R twice and both times our room was less than clean. CBR we could follow the 5-second rule if needed.

The walk from our room at PO-R to the food court was just as long as the walk from our CBR Jamaica rooms.

I think you will be pleased with CBR.

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

I loved loved loved CBR when I was in Trinidad North. It was the perfect location to everything. I still loved it when I stayed in Aruba the next time but I hated being so far from a bus stop and everything else. I have never had a problem with cleanliness or service. I would be staying there next time but my sis talked me into AKL. I recommend it (CBR) but definately get a preferred room if at all possible.

I have stayed at CBR twice and loved it!! Both times I have been in Aruba. The walk was a little farther to Old Port Royale, but it was something we enjoyed in the mornings. I the decor! Here are some pictures from my most recent stay at CBR.

Please feel free to PM if you have any questions!

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

I would definitely vote for AKL over CBR, but two bathromms kind of makes the choice a lot easier. Go with CBR

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

I have not stayed at the CBR since 89 but I can't wait to stay there again. I loved it and consider it one of my faves along with CSR. What was even nicer about the CBR in '89 was it was thier value resort at the time. I love the theming and the feel of the resort. Love the colors and landscaping.

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

I've stayed at CBR twice. The last time being Nov 04 and we had connecting rooms that time. We really enjoyed our stay. 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, 2 small refrigerators and plenty of storage for our stuff was great. We had tons of space. It was like having our own suite. Our rooms were always clean and we had towel animals several days. We stayed in Jamaica and I had requested a room close to the bridge. It was a short stroll to the main pool and food court over 2 bridges and an island. I loved the atmosphere and theming.

When we were there Jamaica was always the first stop on the bus route around CBR so we always got a seat. It was also always the first stop to drop off passengers when we returned from the parks. I don't think we ever waited more than a few minutes for a bus. We had a rental car and used it to go to some other resorts and occasionally a park depending on where we were going later in the day. Parking was close and never a problem.

The food court was fine. We only ate breakfast there and filled up our resort mugs, so I can't comment on other meals. I'm not a big breakfast eater, so it was mostly bagels or fruit. I did split a breakfast a couple of days and the full breakfasts were plenty for 2 IMHO.

I think you'll enjoy your time there. Have fun!

Re: What are your experiences at the CBR?

I've stayed at CBR many times. It's my favorite moderate. I didn't mind the walk from Jamaica or Aruba. I've eaten at the food court and there is a good selection at the different food shops. DD always loved the main pool with the hot tub. I likes the larger room size and the tropical atmosphere.
