As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Don\'t you love this time of year?
Right now we are having unseasonably cool weather right now. So it's only running about 75-78 during the day and 60-65 at night. Trust me this is an oddity. But I digress. What I mean is that the leaves are starting to change a little in the color department. Some are falling. My family was out for a little while this morning ands afternoon just riding aound with the windows down. Stopped at Michaels and got some fall and Halloween decorations. Stopped by one of our favorite orchards on the way home. Picked up some yellow delicious apples. The Fuji apple should be ready in 3-4 weeks. It's just fabulous out. Also one more thing..... it just means I am one more season closer to Disney!

I agree, it's a lovely time of year, but I can't believe that the leaves are already turning to yellow.

It is cooler here but still very much summer. I really love Autumn. It usually starts here in mid-October.

Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
Oh also while I was at Michaels I picked up more Disney stickers for my scrap book for the next trip. Then I called my sister to tell her I made the ressie for our hotel the night before our flight and she asked if I would book hers too. Well of course I would be more than happy to do that and I did. I love doing this kind of stuff. I wonder if maybe I should become a TA. Well it's a thought anyway.
We figured it was better to stay at a hotel near (1/8th) the airport the night before. We have an 7:00 a.m. flight out and with a 3 hour drive to Nashville that would mean leaving home at 2:00 a.m. to get there 2 hours ahead of time for check in and security on a Saturday morning. And since there is absolutely no way I could sleep the night before (I't better than Christmas cause it lasts longer) I figured I would be dead on my butt. So anyway thats the plan so far.

Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
It's fallish here. I like it, but I also can see outside through the holes in my kitchen wall, and we have to fix our oil pipe so more can be delivered, I just hope all gets fixed before it gets even colder.

Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
Nope. I don't love this time of year. I'm a Spring person. September/Fall was always been a high stress time for me when I was a kid, and I just haven't seemed to be able to get past that. I grew up on a farm, so Fall was harvest time - super stressful because you are racing the weather and break-downs of major expensive machinery. We used to put in 16-18 hour days trying to get the crops in before the frost ruined them. Plus it was back to school and I hated school. The only good thing about it was that I was able to see my friends again since I didn't get to hang out with them over the summer. Plus Fall only lasts about 6 or 7 weeks if we're lucky, so Winter is on it's way much too quickly for me. Sorry to be a downer, and I'm not really as depressed as this posts sounds! I every day that I'm on this earth, it's just that Fall is not my favourite time of year. Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
I undestand the hustle and busy times you had growing up. I live in a rural farming community as well but luckily I didn't have to participate too much. I love fall but I HATE LOATHE DESPISE winter. I just try to keep looking forward to spring once fall is through.

Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
Fall is one of my favorite times. I love that we have had a few unseasonably cool days but I didn't like the rain that Ernesto brought w/ the cool weather. I love the feel in the air as the leaves change and the weather as well as getting ready for Halloween then Thanksgiving. Which then leads into my other favorite season, winter. I love snow, NOT the hassle it causes though, and we don't get enough here that often anymore. But I think that I like it better when I was younger and didn't have to worry about digging out, etc. Oh well, the joys of becoming an independent adult!!!

I Don't like this time a year AT ALL. I know what is coming...the BIG W and that means COLD! Sure it is pretty with the leaves changing (I sure miss those Vermont falls) but I don't like the fall.

Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
Yes I do like this time of year. But! I don't like what is right around the corner and that is cold, gray, dreary winter days that seem to last forever! I love being outside and enjoying the sunshine, and here in northern Indiana, that is very hard to come by in the winter months. So - I hibernate! Fall is a beautiful season up to about mid - late October here....then it all falls apart!

I REALLY love this time of year cause it's only 11 days away from our trip to WDW! It's been cooler here too lately, in fact today I actually had to wear jeans and a long shirt cause it's only around 60 degrees!

Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
I am a fall person with no doubt. I love the crisp mornings and the warm afternoons. I love the "school smell" when I walk in the door at work and I enjoy making soups, stews, and fresh apple pie.
Later, as the weather cools even further, the crackle of the fireplace makes home the place to be! Our leaves have the faintest traces of yellow, but they've been that way for a while. It's been extremely dry here and I think the trees are in survival mode.
Now winter is something else. I've got to get a winter hobby other than hibernating.

Re: Don\'t you love this time of year?
I love the fall and have really enjoyed the cooler weather we have had this past week. I'm sure there will still be an Indian summer, but I'll enjoy the break from the heat when we get it. I have actually redecorate the house for fall over the long weekend.
