Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Guess What????
We've got some BBQ's and weddings to attend. I'm forcing DH to take some time off so we can get some real house renovations done and done. I'll be slaving away in my cubicle all summer which helps me look forward to our upcoming WDW trip!!!!!

Re: Guess What????
I've still got at least another week of work yet -
The kids go until Wednesday - then we have one full staff day (but I can't go).
The district is paying for my 8 graduate credit reading instruction & practicum course - so we've been "excused" from the last staff day to work that day AND the Friday to finish up our classroom course hours.
Of course - that means that I STILL need to put in at least a day closing my classroom, and finishing all the paperwork that needs to be done. Then I get a couple of weeks off before I have to teach summer school.
As far as summer plans go -
Sarah got a callback to be in our repertory theater's production of Annie, so we'll find out Monday if our summer is shot. If she gets in - it'll be daily rehearsals through mid-July, with opening night on July 10th, and 10 performances scattered throughout July (ie - no summer fun!)
If not - we're headed down to Lake Winnepesaukee in Moultonborough for our annual extended family vacation with my Mom & Dad, my brother and sisters and their families! If Sarah's in the play - we'll just do a couple of quick trips down, and they'll all head up to see the show. This is on the 2nd week of July.
July 1st - our local "grand hotel" the Mountain View Grand (Think the Grand Floridian on a smaller scale) - has new owners, and they are really expanding. They are putting on an "Independence Day Gala" with a concert by Lee Greenwood, a fancy barbecue, followed by a fireworks "extravaganza." They put a LOT of money into these fireworks this year!!
John, as our local fire chief, is considered a VIP guest, so we've been invited to enjoy the concert and spend the day! Of course - once the fireworks start - John'll have to supervise his crew, as they need an engine standing by.
Then I've got two weeks of social skills summer school - which we implement through all kinds of trips and activities, so Sarah will come along on some of these.
The month of August is filled with all kinds of trainings and schooling for me - and getting my room ready for the next year. The big girls are working (well - Jennie's hoping to be working, she's still looking) and having fun with their friends.
No Disney trips planned - but it'll be our last real summer before Amanda graduates, so I'm hopeful it'll be good family fun.

Re: Guess What????
Not much here. Kids last day was yesterday. They will be going to a new school in Sept. so I have some mid-summer orientation's to do.
Just the other usual stuff, dental appt., well visits. and spending time in the pool and on my deck.
I start back to school myself for my summer semester on the 26th and go until 8/17! American History - ugh Not my fav subject.

Re: Guess What????
3 weeks "back home". It's going to be a working vacation since we have to clear up FIL's estate and build a deck on my parents' cottage while we are there. We're hoping that since the drought finally ended and there's water in the lake again that we might get the kids up waterskiing. ::hope hope::

Re: Guess What????
My last official day was this past Tuesday so these have been my first few days of freedom.
Tomorrow we're heading out to the Outer Banks until next Sunday
We come back on the 25th and then on July 1st we go to Myrtle Beach to see Train play at the House of Blues.
Then, on July 10th we'll be at WDW until the 15th (celebrating my bday on the 12th!!!)
Two more Train shows follow that: July 26th in Columbia, SC and July 29th at the Bele Chere festival in Asheville, NC.
So my summer is JAM PACKED!!! I'm so excited

Re: Guess What????
We're moving, I'm going to summer school, and the kids are working on their language skills (French, Spanish, English - they read French and Spanish exceptionally well, but have a hard time understanding Spanish spoken, so we're watching a lot of Tele Mondo)
Youngest DD is in swimming, and whatever time is left, we'll spend with the grandkids and their parents (our kids) and extended family.

Re: Guess What????
We e-school year round, so that will continue. I have tons and tons of work to do (tie dye, spirelli kits, albums) to keep me plenty busy. We are going to OK mid-August for a scrapbook convention then on to WDW for me to vendor at one there, then home. We'll be gone 3 weeks total. DDs have scrapbook camp the end of this month, VBS next month and they start summer dance classes in July, too, so, except for the trip in August, same old same old here! Re: Guess What????
We are going to visit family in about 2 weeks and then after that my sister is coming with her kids for about a week visit.
Then we have a weekend at the lake that is 45 min. from where we live. DH's work rents out an entire resort for the whole company and provides food and entertainment...and it just happens to be over my birthday weekend.
Then for the grand finale in August we have our vacation at WDW.
After that I start classes at the end of August.
