Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

V&A\'s Questions

I'm hoping someone who has eaten at V&A's before can help reassure me! I've wanted to eat here for three years, as most everything I've read about V&A's has been positive. However, I'm suddenly feeling a bit nervous about feeling out of place. It's not like DH and I never go to nice places or anything, but I'm worried I'll be served food I don't know how to eat or something. We had some issues at Bistro de Paris on our honeymoon, and our waiter kept looking at us like we would've been better off at a McDonald's! Also, I have some definite food dislikes (including scallops, which make me feel sick every time I eat them). I wouldn't say I'm a "picky" eater (if I were, I wouldn't be going here!); I just have a few things I'd rather not have as ingredients in my dinner. Am I going to have issues here?

I'm also curious about attire. I know there's a dress code, but I'm wondering exactly how fancy people get? I enjoy dressing up, but am not sure how dressed up to get.

I know these probably sound like silly questions, but I really want to enjoy myself while I'm here. DH told me that if I don't stop worrying about it, he's going to call and cancel our reservation!! Can someone please help?

Re: V&A\'s Questions

We dined at the Chef's table at Victoria and Albert's for our thirtieth wedding anniversary and it was a very special experience. The wait staff never once made us feel the least bit awkward even though neither my DH or myself were used to dining in such a formal setting.

As far as any food dislikes or dietary needs are concerned, just mention those when you make your ressie. Someone from the restaurant will call you prior to your ressie and will ask you about any food items you might want to avoid, etc.

We really dressed up because it was a special occasion and we didn't feel the least bit out of place (although we did look a tad weird when taking the boat and monorail to get from WL to GF). At the very least, I would suggest a suit jacket for your DH and a party-type dress for yourself.

Re: V&A\'s Questions

We ate here for my 30th borthday and it was amazing. I wore a bacl cocktail dress (not too fancy, just some beading at the hem) and DH wore a suit. We did not feel over dressed or under dressed at all. I was also a little worried about getting something I wouldn't know how to eat or wouldn't like but it turned out not to be a concern at all! The servers are so wonderful and subtle, if I did eat something the wrong way, I sure never knew it or was made to feel awkward about it!

Re: V&A\'s Questions

Ryansbride asked tons of questions I had myself! I am trying to convince Kevan to go there for our adults dinner out during our December trip.

I'd really love to go very formal, is that okay too? It is so rare when we have a chance to get really dressed up.

The food and service sounds excellent, though!

Re: V&A\'s Questions

When we went, Mark was in a suit - bearing in mind that jackets are required for men and they're very strict about that rule too. We saw someone turned away while we were there, who went to get a jacket and wasn't allowed in until he returned with it. I went in a full length dress and loved the opportunity to get dressed up, as I don't often get a chance to. We saw people more casually dressed than that and we all fitted in.

As others have said, the servers are wonderfully friendly and put us immediately at ease. And if there's something you don't eat, then you can discuss those arrangements with them when they call you to confirm your reservation. I don't eat meat and I had a superb vegetarian menu, but I could also pick fish items from the main menu. We also explained that Mark can't have too many dairy products and they were very accommodating. The servers knew all of this information and ensured that creamy sauces were substituted for something else or served on the side.

I can't recommend this place enough. I honestly don't think you'll feel out of place here at all.

Re: V&A\'s Questions

Very formal is fine!! The minimum is a jacket for men and a dress or suit for women. You will see all levels of dress and everyone is made to feel comfortable. As far as food - every course gives you at least two choices so it's not difficult to find something you wil like. If there are particulars, let them know. You have to call them directly to make a ressie but the same rules apply unless you are going to try rhe Chef's table (slightly different but not sure). V&A's is more than accomodating in every area (except the jacket rule) and the staff is incredible. Just enjoy and don't fret about the small stuff - they will take wonderful care of you!!!
