As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh no worries! We have that drop off/shuttle to the airport here BUT how would I get there first of all AND I can't park my car in the shopping center where they meet? Unless I want it towed!
And yeah having a car service would be Fabulous, if it didn't cost and an arm and a leg! It seems like the cost is like my airline flight! Spending $50 doesn't sounds so bad, BUT I too am not too crazy leaving my car in a lot that is near the airport.
I did this a long time ago and at that point I had 2 little kids with me. What am I so scared of? I know I wouldn't be the ONLY one to be parking there!

This is a CRAZY idea- I was even thinking of asking my ex BUT he will be away too! LOL
I'm really okay with parking my car at the Express Park. I did call and sounds pretty good. 24hr shuttle and the driver picks you up at where you park your car! Not a bad idea! Then coming back I call this number on the business card the driver gives to me..and I get picked up!

I didn't know he doesn't have his license yet but for some reason when you said Ryan would be home until January, I thought for some reason he'd be home from the end of this month until January .
So update, actually this afternoon I set up a car service to pick me up at my house. YEAH! It was a service my parents have used. When the guy called me back, he told me that he does not service my county. But then he said he would for me. I then told him about my parents and their last name and where they lived, he remembered them. (Hey little guilt can't hurt!) Then the price on picking me up was $50 and NO tip is not included. $50 for the way back too. So yeah it is definitely more than the Express Park, BUT I do not have to leave my car in a lot. (Not sure why that bothers me). I am so spoiled! LOL
However I only called one other limousine company and their price was a little higher: One way would be $110 (no tip) and coming back $116 (no tip). So I have to think that I am saving money in that way!
Also my Magic Band came in the mail on Monday! I have everything now just have to pay off my resort which I plan on doing very soon!
I only get excited when I see pictures of Disney with Christmas decorations because my mind and heart is on my oldest coming home, a week from this Saturday! Then my other son 5 days later! I have to take some family pictures of us. I promise to post one here!
I can't start packing until November 28th- after my oldest leaves to go back to his "home" in California! Can you say bittersweet?

This trip is much different than the May's trip! I am not thinking and breathing Disney 24/7, like I did in May. I do need a break from my new job, and haven't asked for a day off. I am not constantly on Passporter's and reading EVERYTHING! I have not watched any Disney movies, yet. That may change next week! LOL
I have thought about what I am wearing to Disney the day I do leave. I am trying to not wear a coat, because it won't be my car. I am hoping to get away with jeans, short-sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt. The weather up here has been mild lately, not a typical November. Then I would pack a pair of shorts in my backpack. I haven't thought beyond that...of course packing shorts. At least I don't need to buy any summer clothes. LOL!
I have not paid my balance yet. But I can pay it when I check in, but I do not what to do that.... not worried. I have 2 weekends to split it up. I only have 4 dinners to make next week, and some don't include my sons.
So since Thanksgiving is next week- and if you are away next week, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving- with whatever you do to celebrate! I go to my Mom's- she cooks!

One of my nieces is having us over to her house for Thanksgiving. Her mom and dad (Luke's sister and her husband) and Luke's mom will be joining us. We're each chipping in a dish or two. Can't wait for some family time!
