As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

For the fish: Leave a sign. "Dear Microwave Users: Please, no more stinky food. I don't like it and it makes me smell funny. Thank you, the Micro."
It's a good idea, but I can guarantee you the stinky-food people won't get that it's referring to them!
I'd keep a can of air freshener close at hand and use it liberally. Won't help with the toenails or open-mouth-chewing (was she raised by wolves?????), but it might help w/ the gas passing (again, wolves???) and food smells.

How about suggesting that your DH work in the office for a day or two to
"observe" how the office is runing and don't announce when it will be. I'm
sure he can do surprise visits and just make sure they are timed around the
offenders lunchtime at least.
The smelly food, farts and chewing with your mouth open are bad and in my
experience they are things that can and have happened in an office environment.
However the toe nail stuff.......WAY out there and totally gross!
Your DH does not have to say you are the one who brought these matters to his attention. As supervisor, he can simply say there have been complaints and leave it at that.
Its downright disgusting. I would spray airfreshner back in her direction. Its funny ... as kids we would have no problem saying to someone who spit(accidently) while talking..." I asked for the news, the not the weather" It was how we all learn social norms, that maybe our parents did not think to teach us. If I had to look at this or smell it, I migh consider saying something... but then again I a get "eeked" out by someone blowing their nose at the dinner table... I said something to a Manager once who liked me to have lunch with him. He was little mad at the time, but never did it again in my presence. I think I said it made my gag reflex respond and that might not be good. I walked by someones office one day and he had his shoes and socks off clipping his toenails. Yech!! I can't imagine doing that in front of people , but some have no shame.
Get a few more responses here, cut out the ones about DH being a Supervisor and put them on her desk.
are others in the office bothered by this...

YUCK!! That's a tough one!! I used to work with a girl with a gas problem. Seriously, it was HORRIBLE!! We used to joke that the rest of us were going to get a neon sign to put above us that said, "NOT ME!". That way when customers came in they wouldn't think the rancid smell was from us! She would keep a can of french vanilla air freshner next to her and spray it every time she tooted. To this day I can't STAND the smell of that air freshner! And she would giggle and tell us she had broccoli for lunch! It was AWFUL!! As a female, I cannot IMAGINE being like that! I swear, if I had that much gas, I would call in sick for work! But, what could we do? We would ask her and even yell at her to STOP EATING GASSY FOODS!! It didn't help! UGH!! And who the heck clips toenails at work??? That's just crazy! Now, the food smells are different. I do occasionally microwave broccoli or fish, but we have a seperate lunch room and I'm the only one in there. If anyone comes in, I warn them. Even at that, it's only like once or twice a year when I have NOTHING else at home to bring for lunch!
Anyhoo, all I can tell you is GOOD LUCK!!! I wish I had some tactful advice to offer, but sorry, no such luck!
I would take the issue to HR. The toenail and gas issues should be addressed. Gas could be a medical issue but trimming toenails??? We had people at work who didn't shower and that went to HR and was addressed so I would start with HR.
Update: We have a staff meeting tomorrow morning. I have been added to the agenda and I plan on discussing "smells" and how they bother me. I'm going to mention that ANY strong smell bothers me to the point of distraction so from now on I will have a can of Neutra-Air at my desk and plan to use it liberally.
As for the toenail clipping: with the coming of cooler weather, she should be wearing shoes instead of sandals which might make a difference, but just in case, I came in early today and swiped the clippers out of her desk!

Thats horrible that you have to swipe toenail clippers, who has clippers anywhere but in the bathroom?????? That would set me over the edge! Good luck with your meeting
We actually have a rule that you can't microwave any fish or popcorn that has 'butter' on it. The smells are too potent for an office atmosphere.
If you have open cubicles any kind of primping or body maintenance should not be done in them. That's what the bathroom (or your home) is for. Perhaps a rule should be posted for that too?
As far as passing gas and chewing with her mouth open. Those are bad habits, but not necessarily things that need a rule. Poor thing was never taught etiquette.
Do you ever have staff meetings? That might be a topic for discussion there. You are probably not alone in your feelings about the lack of etiquette going on.
We have a policy of no cooking smells in the office. It is really nice because you don't get those stinky fish smells but the down side is we can't make popcorn in the microwave either. thank heaven for smart pop in a bag!
