2008 Disney Cruise Line West Coast and Repositioning Itineraries - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

As the date gets closer keep checking because it is 14 months away people may find they either can't afford it or can't get the time off from work or something else happens. There is always the posssiblity someone will cancel.
My guess is that more cancellations will come in for the May Repo as more kids are in school and can't miss 2 weeks of classes. Where August has more dates that are easier for those with kids.
If you have a Disney Cruise Specialist for a TA then you could put a request in for the cruise and have them watch for you but from my experience make sure its a TA you trust as mine hasn't been the greatest and i am just lucky that i Made it on the May REPO more then the anger that i have to pay more because she waited to long.
I was the same way with my 1st cruise i was always dreaming of Cruise Part 2

I know that Travel Agents are not being allowed to hold rooms for this cruise due to its popularity... I am doing the Westbound cruise and Even though I booked a little later than I wanted, I still think I got the best deal, for a Cat. 9 (?) for two people it was $4,093.48

For the moment, we're on the EB reposition cruise. I'm just hoping we can figure out a way to pay for it. We're a family of 6 and we have 2 Cat 5 rooms. The frustrating part is we're being charged adult prices for two of my kids. Maybe the new ships will be more friendly to larger families. We may try to get my brother and his girlfriend to go with us on the cruise, if THEY can afford it.
My family of four (two girls, 9 and 12) and my in-laws are booked for summer 2008!!
We are very excited. This will be our second DCL west coast cruise. We are Cat 10 on deck 7. We were Cat 10 deck 2 last time. Looking forward to seeing what a higher deck will be like. Wished we could have sprung for a Cat 9, maybe an upgrade at check in?

We enquired about the WB repo cruise, and thought about it for a couple of days after we got the quote (cat4 10,000+US for 2A/1C). Then said ok - go for it and wouldn't you know it - by then it was sold out!!! This was in mid-Feb.
So we booked a seven night Mexican cruise for May, in the hopes that the WB cruise might have a cancellation.
Lo and behold, less than 1 week later there was availability in Cat 4! So we are now coming along - myself, hubby and almost 7 year old daughter (by cruise date).
We are so excited!!!
Our travel agent (in New Jersey), did all the bookings for us, kept and eye out for room on the WB cruise, and when it became available, switched us over, without any problems. TA is Small World Vacations, contact is Josephine - she is fantastic, very helpful. She booked our 4 night cruise last year, so we contacted her again.
Give them a try, they may be able to help!
We are also planning a vow renewal ceremony on board (I hope), so this will be an even more special trip.
Does anyone have any tips about vow renewals on board?
Looking forward to hearing from all of you, and meeting up on the cruise!
Leanne - There are several Passporters on that cruise. Keep an eye out for meets as we get closer to the date. I can't help you with info on vow renewals, but I'm sure someone can. to the boards!
We are on the EB repo in August 2008. We were on the EB repo in August 2005 as well. We did see Dave Marx and his cutie pie baby at an "open house" in one of the Cat 3 1 bedroom suites. I highly recommend this cruise. We had so much fun as a group and plan on having as much fun this time, maybe even MORE!

Wow, I can't believe it! While we were on our Western cruise last week, I got an email from our TA that an opening had appeared for the Westbound Repo cruise, so we nabbed it! Unfortunately, because she had put a hold on it for us, it didn't show up in "the system" so we weren't able to take advantage of the 10% discount for booking onboard, but at this point, I don't care. We're still flying high from the cruise (just got home last night!) and it helps so much to know we have the next one all booked! I didn't cry QUITE so hard at the "Remember the Magic" show, just know for sure I'd be back!
Btw, I just checked, and there is now availability showing in 2 different cagegories for this cruise. Darn it! I sure wish those cancellations had happened 3 days ago!
I am waiting very impatiently, dying for any information from Disney on the West Coast Cruises. I check the website every day hoping they will have added the shore excursion information! <Sigh!> I suppose I should be happy that we only have 10 months to go!!

I've been devouring the 5th Edition DCL Passporter to make the time go by until DCL releases the excursion info. I've actually picked out ones that we are interested in for Mexico. My hope is that we will see the excursions listed sometime in Sept or Oct.

My family and I were on the Aug 2005 repo cruise. We were so excited that we were able to book the Aug 2008 repo. We were even more excited that we could use some of our vacation club points to help with the cost! Please add me to the list so we can all get together on the boat .
