Do you go on the Disney Diet? (A tongue-in-cheek topic? - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just a note--the Disney Diet doesn't work when you live here . . . apparently it works even less when you work for Disney. I've been warned about eating by numerous CMs already!

Uh-oh! The Disney magic applies only to guests in this respect, huh? :-)
Yep, I bet the DD would not be a good idea if you were a CM near or in Main Street Bakery, for example. You could be on your way to Pooh-sized in no time at all.

I snagged several of the Christmas krispy treat shapes on our use-up-snack-credits shopping spree, Wolfy. There were several of the standard Christmas cookie designs--Christmas tree, stocking, tree ornament, Santa hat--all really well drawn in icing on the glazed krispy treat so that each resembled a Christmas cookie.
Yummylicious!
Great! Thanks! I'll be there in a few weeks and can stock up
well you all know I'm generally a kill-joy on this topic, as I'm a nutrition fanatic. however, I do make many exceptions for our whole family when we're there. I am already looking forward to the bread pudding at Tusker House on Dec.5th!
love hearing about the Christmas treats. I will definitely spring for some of these for our Christmas stockings and to bring back to a few friends.
We follow this diet! Favorites include (but are not limited to) caramel corn fresh and warm from Germany, dole whip, Mickey Bars, rice krispy treat, key lime pie. For DH - he loves shrimp and grits and likes to try that everywhere it's offered. Once for breakfast, we went to Ghirardelli. We will be there in two weeks to "break our diet"!

My "Disney Diet" consists of cheese fries at Casey's, Mickey Premium I/C bars, chocolate-dipped rice crispy treats, and a few frozen-type adult beverages!! I also enjoy pretty much anything from a bakery (on my bucket list for next time is a cupcake from the Contempo Cafe at the CR!).
But, esp. when I'm there as a solo adult, I do a lot of walking and I'm also one of those weird people who will get up and get in a run before I start my day.
When we were at Disney last, we were on at VERY tight budget, so there wasn't a lot of indulging going on. In fact, I have never had a Mickey Bar or Dole Whip!!
Our plan for our upcoming trip is to enjoy the food, as well as the parks! We have 9 TS ADRs we are looking forward to! I LOVE seafood, so I have already staked out those favorites on many of the menus!
And, one of our big "must haves" for this trip.... Beignets at POFQ!!!!

Heya, Amy, thought of you when I cashed four snack credits for individual packages of dried fruit at the GF food court. There were dried blueberries, cherries and...duh! I forget what else.
So, there are more healthy snacks available with credits than was the case last time we were there. Nice big apples, oranges and bananas.

I say EVERYthing tastes better at Disney! And no one can tell me it ain't so.
Sure wish I'd cashed more snack credits for Mickey krispy treats. The one I ate last night for dessert was MUCH better than I recall from previous oinking on those.
But, ::::sniff! sob!:::: we had too few days there this trip, and I didn't get to try Lefou's brew or a pineapple Dole whip either one. Line too long once for Gaston's Tavern, and I had some tummy trouble when we went back to the MK.
Sure hope the Publishers' Clearinghouse Sweepstakes prize patrol shows up at our door soon. I wanna go back NOW!

When I'm at WDW I go on a "SEE-food diet" .........If I see something I want.....I get it. I figure that we're on vacation for a short time and I want to enjoy all of it.
I have type 2 diabetes so am usually pretty careful about my diet, but I have a raging sweet tooth! All of the walking at Disney lets me indulge, so I enjoy a mickey ice cream bar, and feel no guilt sharing cupcakes and other desserts. I generally skip the adult beverages (I prefer my sugar in chocolate form) but quite enjoyed a frozen Margarita in front of Mexico last year. Yum, I can't wait for our January trip!

good to hear about the fruit, Her Dotness!! we will be visiting all the monorail food courts, Roaring Forks, and The Mara this trip! after all, no dining plan for us so this is our way of having new experiences at a lower price tag!
we have 3 character dinners - Disney Jr., Akershus, and tusker house. I will let the girls have whatever they want for those meals. I will be asking for my vegan options at Akershus, though. I just can't eat fried food. It would make me sick.
yeah, we need to get some of that caramel corn this time! the line was so long last February that we were able to pass by that overwhelming smell of delight! we did get some werthers at least.
We generally don't watch what we eat when we're at Disney, even though I typically exercise and watch what I eat. Since we typically get the dining plan, I tend to get things I normally can't afford. I like seafood and steak. I also eat several Dole Whips while we're there. Or a Mickey bar, or popcorn, etc.

The OOP price on the dried fruit bites was $2.95 for an individual portion. Not such an outrageous price, surprisingly. Loaded with sulfides, I'm sure, so not all that healthy for the super-health conscious.
Silly Dot! The type I couldn't recall previously was apples. Duh! Haven't tried any of the ones I got yet. Too busy polishing off the rice krispie treats. Sure wish I'd gotten more of those as the Kelloggs recipe makes way too much for just me to eat, and I'd rather have Disney's chocolate-dipped Mickey heads or molded holiday shapes coated with icing and sprinkles anyway.

I watch what I eat even being at Disney. I drink alot more water and of course all that walking helps too!
This past trip I had 2 Kaki Gori's- Delish! I tend to like my snacks at night, getting back to the room after having a long day at the Parks. I had a slice of a red velvet cake, a cupcake, and a chocolate croissant! OMG! I am usually too full from lunches/dinners to eat dessert after.....so that way I can pick up a snack to go back to the room!
Next trip I do want to try new snacks..... : )
