Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Any opinions on Coronado Springs?

Since Wilderness Lodge is a little out of the budget this year I'm thinking of trying CS for my trip the first week in March. I've looked several places online but I haven't been able to find a lot of opinions on it. I've stayed at all the other moderates and like them but I thought it might be fun to stay someplace new. What are the good and less than good aspects of CS? Any locations more preferable? I know it's a big resort but walking's not a problem. Does the fact that it's a convention center make it more or less crowded than the other moderates?

Re: Any opinions on Coronado Springs?

I haven't stayed there yet (I really want to though). I can only go by what I've read, but I've read several people commenting on how the busses and pools were less crowded since its a convention center-- and many people staying there weren't able to spend as much time going to the parks or swimming. I think it looks really beautiful!!! The only downside that I can find so far is that there's only one sink in the bathroom area, and I really like two, but other than that-- it really looks nice.

Re: Any opinions on Coronado Springs?

We loved the CSR. We stayed in cabanas 9B and we were fairly close to everything. My kids loved the Dig Site. The pool was awesome and we couldn't get the kids away from the slide. The Pepper Market was very good and we used it several times. The buses ran great, we never waited more then 10-15 minutes. The rooms were really clean and mousekeeping always put extra towels in the rooms for us. We will definitely stay there again.

A good friend of mine just came back from there. He and his family have stayed there many times and really love it. His kids especially love the slide - he says it the best one of any of the other resorts. We're going to try to stay there soon too!

Re: Any opinions on Coronado Springs?

Just got back from a 3 day stay there last Sunday We love love love this resort. It's my favorite value/moderate resort (and I even liked it better than Beach Club ) Everyone we encountered there was super friendly. You can fill up your refillable mug at Pepper Market OR at the pool area snack shop (handy having two places, although the pool snack shop does close around 8P or so). Our room was extremely spacious and we had 2 adults, 2 kids in the room. The one sink didn't bother me at all. We were on the 2nd floor in building 8B of the cabanas. It was a little jaunt to the main pool, but not bad. And there was a quiet pool just a few steps away. Also we were right next to the stairs and across the parking lot from bus stop #4. I would definitely ask to be in this location again if (WHEN) we stay there again. We also spent an hour just lounging on the hammocks across from our building - the boys looked for fish, too. I didn't feel out of place with the convention people at all. We walked back from the pool to our room in our swimsuits one day and passed 2 or 3 other families doing the same thing, as well as several people in suits and dresses. No biggie. It was great. Can you tell I love this resort?

Re: Any opinions on Coronado Springs?

We stayed at Coronado Springs last summer and loved it! It is very quiet, even though there were a couple of conventions going on while we were there. It is really a great place to relax. Taking a walk at night around the lake is really beautiful. The whole place is beautiful. We stayed in the Cabanas (9B, I think) and it was a short walk to the Dig Site pool and it was even shorter of a walk to the quiet pool. My kids (12 & 14 at the time) absolutely loved the Dig Site pool and the whole Mexican look of the resort. We never waited longer than 5 - 10 minutes for the bus. Food at the Pepper Market was great with generous servings. Frandiscos bar was fantastic, especially their free salsa and chips for the asking.

This year we stayed at the Beach Club resort, and actually we preferred Coronado Springs because it was so much quieter, less crowded and just plain peaceful. The Staff is much more friendly at Coronado Springs also. However, we can't deny that the fact that you can walk to Epcot and MGM Studios from the Beach Club is wonderful. And Stormalong Bay pool at the Beach Club is not to be missed. If you can only afford a moderate, we would definately recommend a stay at Coronado Springs! We will stay there again.

Re: Any opinions on Coronado Springs?

good to know we will be there in jul/aug of 2006 with my dbil. We have requested either cabanas or ranchos. Good to know I made a good choice. Now I can't wait to go.

Re: Any opinions on Coronado Springs?

yes, we stayed there too last year. Everyone loved it except for my DH, who did not like the food court very much. Everyone else liked it, but he thought it was too crowded. My kids loved the pool, especially the slide (which I had to try also). They did not like the pool bar, which would not let the kids sit at the counter, so we had to eat at a table away from the pool, but besides that we would definitely stay there again. I liked that they had a health club and they had two arcades which made the kids very happy!
