As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I will be purchasing tickets for our July trip soon, and I'm getting more confused the more I look at it. We'll be going for a softball tourney, but the games will be over by 2:00 each day. That's all I know. We have 1 day before and 3 days after the tourney for family fun. We're staying at Pop Century for 10 nights. My current plan is to buy 10 day tickets with plusses (we will be trying Disney Quest and at least one waterpark on this trip) with no expiration, no park hopping. That way, my son and I can tour some extra days while dad and daughter are at the ball park, and if we want to go for fireworks(or rides or whatever) any evening we choose, we can. We'll be spending 1 day at SeaWorld this trip (must see the penguins). Our next trip to Orlando is planned for November 2006, for a few days before our cruise, so we could use up any remaining days then. Then I got to thinking about the annual pass. Would it be worth it for me to get one? It's highly unlikely that I'd even get to use it a second time (but you never know, I had no idea I'd be going to Orlando this summer either). I'd appreciate your opinions. I've been pricing the 10 day tickets thru Ticketmania, they seem to have the best prices.
Made a lot of sense to me and it's exactly why I buy an AP for myself when we go. I am planning to buy DDs the 10 day, park hop, no expiration for our Dec trip, then save them for the next trip. When I price it out by the day, I just can't see buying a shorter length ticket!
I've been looking at the new way they are doing tickets myself and trying to figure out if buying 10 days passes that don't expire are the way to go. To me, it seems that after you go past 5 days, it's not very much more $ to go to 10 days. Unless you definately plan on going back to WDW within a year, I would be hesitant to get annual passes b/c those definately expire. The only reason I could see getting an AP is for the AP hotel rates and from what I've heard, those weren't very good this last time.
I've been trying to figure this out myself. You'll be there 10 days, so that would seem the obvious way to go. However, don't forget that with a 10 day MYW ticket you get 5 (or is it 6?) options/plusses.
So, you could turn a 10 day tix into a 15 day tix - if you used all of your plusses on separate days from days you 'park hop'.
If you're REALLY going to spend every day (including after the softball games) at the parks AND want the option to do the plusses on the same day, then go for it. Have you planned out a tentative schedule yet? Playing ball for several hours and then park hopping each night, and the days off, may be a little much. But, you know yourself and your family best! And, since you have a trip planned for next year, any unused days can be used later, assuming you purchase the no expiration option.
You can't lose, really. The more days you buy, the more you save. And it encourages us to go back and visit again.
